a week ago...I was asking sifus here what are roots, roms, and such...later I became a superuser and progressing..mainly I toyed with the older SGS first...it seem so easy and everything went so smooth...so I am confident enough to root my Note...now.... my device was problem free...screen, battery etc all sound. I am being greedy that is. I even asked a few question before embarking on Rocket V9...on the last cycle before I yell YES I DID IT!!! It bricked. I made a mistake because I was panic, I should have stayed calm and do recovery, instead I try to use Odin, reading a forum I've forgotten (my browser was full of pages at that time) in kelam kabut my Note went coma...now in samsung hospital....if you understand what I am talking here and you want the latest stuff go ahead but let me remind you...our Notes are among the best at the moment in term of performance, display, etc...on it's own is enough to attract attention...that's all I have to say being very free without my gadget ha ha...

I had downloaded stock rom(firmware) from SamFirmware. Anyone there has the link for stock kernel? Always keep back up for future needs.

If you wish to understand more about roms and flash, clockwork recovery, kernel etc etc , pop over to my SGS II official thread - read post #5 and #6 ; the principles applies exactly similar to the Note

You need not flash modem if your present one is OK. If you want, flash KJ6 as it is meant for Asia. Just boot into CWM recovery and select zip file
Flashing modem will not affect your rom or kernel. It will only change your babseband radio

CWM is clockworkmod recovery. Use it to do what we called a nandroid backup - is a full 100% backup of your rom and all 3rd party apps, installs, data , settings. You can use CWM recovery to restore back any backup and your phone will be fully 100% restore to your last state of backup. Titanium only backup your apps and data NOT your rom. It can only work when phone is functioning well. CWM recovery works when your phone is unable to reboot at all

It is definitely much way better than any Android I have used - eg SGS II, Sensation, Xperia Arc, Incredible , Dell Streak etc etc. How many hours depend on individual usage of the phone - whether on gaming, browsing, chit chat etc etc
I don't understand why users so worried about battery klife - can always get a spare battery if you are heavy user
