According to the Wiki its Flooded Forest though you can try Tundra/Volcano.

if you are looking for it in Flooded Forest (especially during low rank) ... i find that Area 10 (top of map) seems to have better chance to get some bugs which are suppose to be rarer that point of the game. usually you'd linger more around area 2 and 7 ... bcos too lazy to go further "just to hunt some bugs", right ?

of course, like ZaroTaro recommends ... you'd probably more easily get it during high rank missions.

Hi, Wanna ask sifu here, last nite I play lower rank village 5 star quest, lifting hot charcoal from volcano, after that no more upcoming quest .. may I know do I missed out something here? There suppose lots more quest to go? Any idea?

You will need to clear some of the requests from the Village Elder's Son.

on the other hand, i'm really short of luck in terms of the "Heavenly Scale" drop ...

getting Rubies, Juwels a lot ... but no such scale in sight so far.

Do you know that item drops are not as random as claimed? You could go through a session with all the rare items available, and sometimes only common items no matter how long you have farmed.

I knew a trick is there, but I haven't tested it nor understand how it really worked. It has got something to do with the timing you boot up the game.

for me it feels like this 'timing' is one of the factors. others include at which stage of the game, your current hunter level and weapon used, which quest, which specific monster at that point your objective is, etc. one more thing is the weight each of those parameters are given in the formula ...

all in all ... give a pretty random feeling though it's definitely based on some formula/algorithm.

Actually it's just the timing you boot up the game, regardless of your equipment. I read somewhere people exploiting this to get all gold crown rewards back in MHP3. Yes, other than item drops monster sizes can also be manipulated.
