a sad story

http://news.yahoo.com/remains-274-us-troop...-081234306.html

The US Air Force dumped the cremated, partial remains of at least 274 troops in a landfill before halting the secretive practice in 2008, the Washington Post reported Thursday.
The procedure was never formally authorized or disclosed to senior Pentagon officials, who conducted a review of the cremation policies of Dover Air Base -- the main point of entry for US war dead -- in 2008, the Post said.
Nor was the dumping ever disclosed to the families of the fallen troops, who had authorized the military to dispose of the remains in a respectful and dignified manner, the Post said, citing Air Force officials.
The newspaper quoted officials as saying that a precise count of the remains disposed of at a Virginia landfill would require searching through the records of 6,300 troops whose remains have passed through Dover since 2001.

hmm..should have let the families know first before they did anything

in a few cases, after an IED attack body parts are not found and sometimes some body parts are so messed up they had to amputate so they could have a open casket funeral

i was tasked to help clean an US army humvee that was hit by a 200kg IED.still gives me chills

CTRM EX-01 Prototype (Mini Seeker UAV)

The ‘ EX-01 ’ was the first prototype with maximum weight of 15 kg, wingspan of 8 feet and was flown as a Remotely Pilot Vehicle (RPV) with video camera payload but without autopilot system.

In 2004, CTRM collaborated with Ikramatic Systems to begin the development of a Malaysian autopilot system for the ‘ EX-01 ’ aircraft. The aircraft was redesigned and subsequently renamed as ‘ SR-01 ’ . A total of 8 aircrafts were built. The new aircraft had a maximum weight of 35kg, increased wingspan, and a powerful engine. It was the platform that successfully proved the viability of Ikramatic’s Autopilot System (IMRAN).

hahaha, in the mixture they let more air in so that the engine will produce more smoke!
*
Actually, the smoke that comes from the Mig-29's has nothing to do with the fuel mixture.

Nor was it produce from oil/diesel drums commonly carried by stunt/aerobatics aircraft.

It is actually a characteristic of the RD-33 engines that power the Migs. Although they were facing a lot of complains regarding this (due to pilots saying they are able to spot Mig-29's specifically because it leaves a trail of smoke), the engine designers don't look at it as a flaw. According to them, as long as the engine keeps the Migs flying, they don't care how much smoke it produces.

It seems they changed their minds with the latest Mig-35, though. No more smoke trails.

LIMA 2013 to be held in March, Not December, says Zahid
Written by Bernama
Saturday, 10 December 2011 15:44

LANGKAWI (Dec 10): The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (Lima) will hold its 12th edition in 2013 in March instead of December as in the past 11 occasions, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today.

He said Lima '13 will be held from March 26 to 30 in a break with tradition after taking into account a request from the exhibitors due to four main reasons.

Speaking at a media conference on the final day of Lima '11 at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) here, Dr Ahmad Zahid said many of the exhibitors felt that the event was too close to Christmas and that they wanted to go on holiday.

He also said that the Defence Services Asia (DSA) exhibition is held in Kuala Lumpur in April and the exhibitors felt that the gap in the period between April and December was too long.

"Also in December, we face the monsoon season, although this time our weather consultant did a good job.

"Furthermore, most of the companies would have exhausted their budgets by the end of the year. They will have more money to spend earlier in the year," he said.

Dr Ahmad Zahid also said that Malaysia's first professional aerobatics team, Krisakti, launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Tuesday here, has received requests for eight performances.

They are being asked to perform during the Armed Forces Day, Army Day, Navy Day and Air Force Day besides during the Formula One, MotoGP and National Day events, he said, adding that there was also a request from Brunei Darussalam.

Dr Ahmad Zahid said hotels in Langkawi extended good cooperation for Lima '11 by not offering costly packages compared to the previous editions of Lima, and added that the local people also responded well to the event.

Lima '11 was held over five days from Tuesday. It was divided into two sections, aerospace at the MIEC and maritime at Awana Porto Malai. - Bernama
