QUOTE(bunnyx3 @ Aug 17 2012, 06:19 PM) Hi , i have a question bout how can i increasing appetite of sugar glider . my male glider is 8months old and his weight is 100G . He's considered slighty underweight as his parents are big size 1 .. and he look a lil thin from da outlook . i fed him with 1 table spoon gliderslurp + 2 table spoon variety of fruits and veggies everyday , but he always cant finished them .. Also he never wanna take protein foods ( hard boiled egg , chicken , mealworm , cricket , dubia ) , i've tried many times already but he still refuses to try them . So i kinda worry if he's lack of protein :/ Where's the HPW?

Try giving HPW, if she takes it, that'll solve your lack of protein worries.
But take note that they're very picky eaters & their taste buds can change. Today they don't touch mealworms, next week they might chomp down every worms on sight.

QUOTE(FabuData @ Aug 17 2012, 08:18 PM) It's just a title. Cheers! No need formalities in SG threads The only formalities we need here is to show off our gliders (which I've not done yet tragically >.<).

Hissing while peeing or pooing? If peeing, it's a sign of UTI, so serve him cranberry juice. If pooing, could be digestion issues, might wanna bring to a vet.
You can get more details of these in page 1.

QUOTE(bunnyx3 @ Aug 23 2012, 03:14 PM) no no , not while peeing or pooing . Its while he's grooming private area ... Dy read whole da page but couldn't find this . Most probably cleaning after pee, try cranberry juice. See if that helps to reduce the hissing.

Dear All,
I got a situation here. My glider hasn't been eating normally I believe. For few weeks already she's been eating very little. She didn't even finish the HPW that I gave ever since I switched from Instant HPW to the normal HPW starter kit. When I feed her papaya (those typical RM1 cut papayas that you can buy from MBG), she eats only 1 slice which is approximately 0.5cm thick only. There are nights whereby she didn't eat at all, but fortunately she still take the HPW (although didn't finish it).
But she's never greedy in the first place. Ever since I got her, she doesn't go the extra mile, even for snacks such as yogurt drops or honey. Basically she was never enticed by food.
Behaviour wise seems alright, still jumping around & still energetic. Size also is alright, not skinny or weak. The only concerning issue is the eating behaviour. Anyone experienced such situation before or got any clue what's wrong?

QUOTE(tednet @ Sep 19 2012, 08:10 AM) did sumthing bordering her? like my girl, if she see a cicak not even near her cage she will start crabbing and wont eat her food until u chase away the cicak.. and sumtime she will bark to wake me up just to check if there are cicak or not.. cause ur saying that ur glider is still energetic.. please monitor her and the best way to bring her to vet if its worries u too much Hardly crab, barking is kinda rare too. Maybe once a month, I would know cause I sleep next to her (unless I sleep like kayu, then i won't know la). Everything seems alright & normal except for the eating part. For two nights already she didn't eat her fruits, only took the HPW.

Sorry for your loss, but if a glider is taking the HPW daily, won't the water from the HPW be sufficient to prevent it from dying due to dehydration?
Also, how do you tell it's due to dehydration? I've looked up, one of the common test is the "Tent test" by pulling up the neck's skin. Based on that test, my glider is always dehydrated even though I do feed her with water from the syringe personally sometimes.

QUOTE(fastcx @ Oct 26 2012, 02:18 PM) Can anyone guide me through looking for young joeys to adopt? Prefered a pair, male and female, best if they are unrelated to each other. and any recommended ways to get cage? 2 cages, one at my own place, another at gf's Firstly, do your research on sugar gliders first. Good breeders generally won't sell to people who knows nuts about gliders. Find the breeders, there are some well known breeders here. Try to identify them. If they have a joey now, good for you. If they don't have any Joey at the moment, you can book & wait. As for the cage, get a 4ft tall sugar glider or bird cage.

Even though I never have a joey, but I heard the female glider will still jump/glide/climb/kamikaze around as if there's nothing in her pouch. It's kinda common though.

QUOTE(badinmy @ Oct 29 2012, 08:44 PM) Guys, I need help on how to get my suggie into bonding pouch. She seems to struggling to get away when I tried to put her into bonding bag. She only wants to hang on me, sitting on my shoulder and do not want to play/exercise. I always let her loose in my room so that she can familiar with her surrounding but keeps climbing on me and just want to hang on me. How old is she? If she's still new to you, relax & let her be familiar with her new environment. They need time too to adapt too. Mine is the opposite, always run & hide into anywhere dark that she can find. Doesn't want to sit on me =(

Well, you seems to be doing fine, keep it up.
Giver her & yourself more time, some people took more than a year to really bond with their glider. Bonding pouch is more for bonding while she's asleep during the day. You can still bond by playing with her daily.
Don't give up easily, their taste buds can change like us. Today she may not like HPW, but next month she might love it. So continue giving her lotsa variety of foods to eat. But remember to give papaya & bak choy more frequent since they're high in calcium.

Worms are junk foods to them gliders.
If they love it, you give them worms to spoil them once in a while.
But if you can avoid giving worms, that will be better. Give them something healthier.
You can try to spoil your gliders with yogurt drops instead.

QUOTE(nyunyu @ Dec 3 2012, 08:31 AM) Hi, I wanted to know is there anyone who knows where I can find pet shop or accessories shop selling stuffs for gliders northern region? the pouch, sleeping bag cages are so hard to find here in sungai petani unlike KL where I can easily find shops with the help of this thread. Been an avid reader for quite a while until finally got a pair of my own sg. I think there's some well known SG accessories sellers in Pet Store section. You can buy & get em mailed to you.

QUOTE(hackerzx @ Dec 6 2012, 09:01 AM) my sg's cage infested by ants .. is it because of the food? any "spray" i can use? tired already everyday change the paper mat.. Yes it's because of the food since SG are very messy eaters. It's amazing how lil bits & pieces of the food can fly to the weirdest spots. Always made me wonder how can it end up there. If i'm not mistaken, Serai Wangi (http://www.seraiwangi.com.my/code/content/product.php) should be safe enough for SGs. But for me, to be extra safe....i followed the ants to see where they're coming from & spray directly at that spot. Repeat several times until I sprayed at all possible holes that they can travel through.

QUOTE(pin86 @ Dec 7 2012, 02:19 PM) I have a question, is it necessary to give apple chew sticks? Well, I never hear or read anywhere that it's necessary before. SG teeth don't continuously grow like rodents (hamster, rats, squirrels etc). So it's best not to mess with their teeth lol.

QUOTE(yee88 @ Dec 9 2012, 11:59 PM) my two babies like to chew on hard things..the pouch & the string, the wooden branch inside their cage.. Oh yes they love to bite, you should have seen the things that my SG has destroyed through persistent biting every night LOL e.g. my bathing loofah is half gone already at the moment, gotta buy a new one soon. My tooth brush also got lotsa bite marks, I saw her bite & carry my tooth brush all the way up to my window. I whacked her nicely with the tooth brush until she sked to smell it already ahahaha.
