2 month after the came out of pouch is the minimum duration they need to spend with their mothers. As for price, you can refer to the Pet Store sub forum.

OMG, you are feeding it wrong. You forgot to add honey into the HPW.
If you read the instructions in the Instant HPW packet, it says you have to add water and honey.

What I did last time for Instant HPW was to add:
6 teaspoon of warm water
4 teaspoon of honey (only processed honey, never use raw honey)
2 teaspoon of Instant HPW.

Add the warm water first together with honey. Stir it well.
Then only Instant HPW powder and stir it well everything blends together.
Next step: Serve!
*
Is Instant HPW = HPW Complete?

I made it by just mixing with water (without honey), my SG polished the whole bowl.

SG are picky animals, once upon a time my SG doesn't like yogurt drops too. But now it's the opposite. Their taste bud will change, no worries.

instant hpw required honey... so in the instruction, u will see it required honey.

for hpw completed, they have include honey in the batch, just pour some warm water then serve.

but unfortunately, hpw complete is quite expensive and for those who have a number of suggie they mostly opt to get normal hpw (must blend with honey and eggs) or glider slurp (recipe from Hun)

for my and my other half, always alternate giving hpw, like 2 days hpw and one day fruit juice.

but remember to give fresh fruit and veg also.

suggie always picky eater and messy eater too, try to mix around their food.
*
Owh okay i think i remember seeing that instant HPW. I used 2 packets of HPW Complete & I surrender after that, too expensive rclxub.gif

Now went back to the normal HPW.

Hi guys. Any recommendation vet? My sg tail starting to get crooked and also harden already. I saw a lot of ppl sayin Dr Jenny is a good vet, but i saw somewhere said she resigned or something already?
*
She's more of a freelancer, don't have a clinic of her own so she goes to multiple clinic.
She will attend to SGs issues at Hands & Paws, located at Aman Suria.

You can just scoop him up with your hands.....maybe during this bonding stage, it'll take a while, but for me....hentam pull her also can de (like catching hamsters) cause she knows how to let go when I grab her LOL.

Hi guys
can some one tell me how much do you pay for a medical check up ?
and whats the cost of neutering ?

i have 2 male gliders and i never brought them to a vet , im thinking of YEOH VETERINARY CLINIC AND SURGERY YEOH .
*
Do travel a bit further to Aman Suria, it's probably another 10 minutes drive from Dr Yeoh. There's a clinic there called Hands & Paws where Dr Jenny is based there at certain days.

My experience with Dr Yeoh:
My SG went for a swim in my bathroom for god knows how long because when I enter my bathroom, she's already swimming. I quickly took her out & dry her up with tissue (believed that tissue is more absorbent) & kept her close to me whole day to keep her warm. Well, she seems normal after that, only unusual behavior is being extra active at the wrong timing (daytime). So I brought her to Dr Yeoh, when it's finally my turn, I explained why I'm there & he asked me to place her on the table. I did exactly that & my SG was indeed active, jumped & climb around me as usual. Then after 2 minutes of monitoring he declare that my SG is fine & I'm good to go. I was charged like RM30 or RM40 (couldn't remember) for 4 minutes of his time & opinion. No medicines, didn't even touch my SG, purely looked for 2 minutes, gave an opinion & charged RM30.

My experience with Dr Jenny:
My SG was hissing, so I brought her to Dr Jenny instead. Did the usual; told her why I'm there & showed her my SG. Dr Jenny probed a lot, she ask many questions from my SG's diet, to habit, cage environment, behavior etc. Placed my SG on a scale to check her weight, Dr Jenny also check the pouch & the whole body too. Then she said that she suspect it could be constipation & explain what could have caused constipation, we discussed a bit on other health issues too. Then she gave my SG de-worm syrup & laxative to clear my SG's gut. In the end, she charged nearly the same amount as Dr Yeoh even though I took like 30 minutes of her time & even got some medications.

So that's why from then on, I only go to Dr Jenny for the usual check ups.

For neutering both are also ok. You dont really needs consultations or medicine.

Yeoh and Jenny both neutered by gliders in the past. In the past Dr. Yeoh were the only surgeon using gas anestatic, so he was recommended as gas cause less complications compared to needle anesthetics. Now Dr. Jenny also uses  gas anesthetic. So both are ok in my opinions for neutering.

Dr. Yeoh's procedure will remove the ball sack entirely, which gives a prettier smoother look in my opinion. Dr. Jenny will just potong inside and wont remove ball sack, which gives natural look. She also charge a bit cheaper for the procedure so the choice is yours.
*
Well yea, I know there are people who went to Dr Yeoh & managed to get things done fine & dandy. But it's just my experience with him that left a bitter taste. It gave me the impression that he's less concerned & is more business minded, maybe it's just my weird instinct but I can't feel his passion for SGs. But Dr Jenny gave me the completely opposite impression.

^^ hi I'm thinking bout building a cage fr my glider. I'm currently living in a rented room monday to friday so there's no space fr my frey's regular 3ft cage. No cages fit in specific to my needs so I want to build one. I have no experience and don't know anything about building. Anyone living in pj or bu can lend me a hand please?
*
Go to hardware shops e.g. Ace Hardware, Mr DIY etc.....get those plastic mesh (avoid the colourful ones if possible - I don't trust the colouring/paints). You can use those to build a cage & maybe some sticks as the skeleton.

See example:
http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00mBZEz...y-Fence-SR-.jpg

But get those really tough/hard ones because a SG can chew away those soft ones.

Help! my sugar glider weird this two days. I heard she make sound like "hiss... hiss... hiss..." when she looks like trying to poo or pee. She sit at the corner of the cage and look like trying to poo/pee but not able to produce any outcome. After I watch her a while, she turn around with belly face up. Then I touch her tummy... she slightly bite me & lick me.. but after a while she turn back and the position she made like want to continue toilet but still nothing come out. I don't know whether she is trying to call me to come over to play with her or she really have the problem when excretion.

Anyone know please help/advice me what to do.

If necessary to bring her to vet. Please kindly provide me a reliable Vet contact or clinic. by the way, I am living at KL area.

Due to last time my experience, my rabbit die because of a careless vet. T_T My friend told me he is good vet (my friend's pet is dog.) But we didn't know he not familiar with rabbit that we though he is good in it. So I wish if there anyone got bring their sugar glider to Vet and he/she is reliable please kindly provide me the vet information.

Really appreciate. Thanks a lot. =)

hello there..do anyone know is there any petshop or people providing boarding service for suger gliders in kl area? thanks..

If I'm not mistaken, glider boarding is RM10/night.

Better find some friends or relatives that can look after your gliders, it's not that difficult anyway. Just chop some papaya & feed every night.

Like felixmask said, you need some time to bond with your glider. It won't happen over a few weeks especially since it's 8 months old already.
So be patience, don't give up.....go check the 1st page on bonding tips & continue doing it. It'll bond with you eventually, the key is don't give up.

Yea Gliders are very messy eaters, so if you pass it to people who don't have much experience....I suggest them to feed more solid fruits like apple, pears etc.

It's only for few days right? But yea 4 gliders are a handful lol.

*
You have to trim his nails, it'll grow so sharp that it'll be like needles. When it jumps onto you, then nails will be practically penetrating your skin.
Then depends on how sensitive your skin is, you may get rashes or infections. For me, it'll bruise & itch like mosquito bites.

What I did when I was at your stage (wanting to get but not sure whether to get or not), I visit people with SGs lol. You get to play & escape the commitment.

err..even apple and pear they can sambil makan sambil jump jump jump..i was like  doh.gif
erm around 6 days..consider quite long and im quite worried..beside feeding them at night, they biasa have yogurt drops as supper before they sleep.. haihhh send for boarding I scare they never take good care of them, send to friends I scare trouble them.. unsure.gif
*
Yes but at least they'll chew the apples/pears until dry before spitting the residue out. When I feed my glider papaya, woah....next morning it's like someone got brutally murdered in the cage only. It's like blood splash all over the place.

Try to go back to the person who sold you the gliders? If you know you're the type that will travel every now & then......getting a panel of people to babysit your glider is important lol.

Another option is to attend pet events with gliders involved, get to know of other glider owners around you. Then you have a circle to lean on to during emergencies.

HPW & fruits is sufficient already.

Try not to use HPW instant, it's friggin expensive.

got both of my sugar gliders on friday night and so far they are adapting the new environment very well.

my only concern for now is when is the optimal time for me to clean the left over fruits and the tray? So far I am trying to put a schedule their cage and only the evening time when i come home after work seem is the only time i can do that.

If so, will the left over fruits attract ants? So far I have yet to encounter any problem with pests infestation in their cage but I am trying to prevent it to happen.
*
I feed mine at night & by morning it's already infested with ants.
It'll attract ants sooner or later if your house have an ant hive somewhere within your walls.
Use this: http://www.seraiwangi.com.my/ as an insecticide, it's made of natural ingredient & pretty common.

QUOTE(wyattchua @ Nov 22 2013, 05:35 PM)
jz got my female joey on 10th of this month...a very quiet and shy joey.=) she never make noise. just whistled few times during night time but just curious about the diet..she's kinda picky.and get bored of certain fruits very fast
*
Continue feeding her with stuffs which are good for her e.g. papaya or bak choy. SGs won't starve themselves to death, so when she's hungry, whether she likes it or not she'll eat one.....unless it's really non-edible la lol.

Try /PetStore section, might be luckier there.
Go and meet up with the breeders, you don't have to buy just by meeting them. Then choose which joey you like most.

Yeah, I am thinking of doing a bit of pesticide shopping soon. The ants in my house are the Odour House Ants where it have a stint of sweet smell upon pressing them. Both of my suggies seems to hate the ants as they do crabbing upon seeing ants on their food hehe. Will keep this posted on the ants thing. Its quite annoying honestly.
*
Just be alert with the chemicals that might be in the pesticide.

A colleague of mine gave me this ant bait that is in powder form. Poured along their path and its the second day now, there isn't any ants around the suggie's cage. The serai wangi isn't really effective on the ants but is very effective on the odour. But the serai wangi is deadly against black and red ants but not the odorous home ants.

Just two weeks with them, the male started to climb all around me while the females likes my hand feeding except that she is still a little protective when I approach her.

A quick question, how do we have the sugar gliders to get into the bonding pouch?
*
It takes a while for them to be comfortable with the bonding pouch.
1 technique is get a piece of cloth & toss it into their sleeping pouch for days. Their scent will be rubbed all over that small piece of cloth. So put the scented cloth into the bonding pouch, they'll feel more comfortable now.

not quite sure about that but she likes to like n try to bite new stuff...but still a quiet fella...never make noise..much better than my friend's suggie..
*
The fun thing about suggie is, they have a "individual personality". Some gliders like pallets, some don't like. Some run & hide when you on the lights, some still play around even with lights on. It all depends on their "upbringing", so depending on the environment that they grow up in & the amount of attention that they received, they'll behave differently.

About a few years lol. After a few months of keeping him I got himself a gf. Now the gf and the other glider died, so only left him alone. Next february should be entering 7th year (6 years old edi). XD
*
How many years has your Ted been alone? His partner was with him for few years right?

QUOTE(Jinq. @ Dec 3 2013, 03:02 PM)
Ahh few years ._. I'm just worried about the noises. Is it loud? Anything I can do to stop them from making noise? Haha. Grats on your glider 6th birthday! In Advance haha! Before this I thought of making my bedroom glider proof then let them have the whole room. Guess I should not do that. Lmao
*
I used to put the cage next to me when I was sleeping, the 4ft cage.

There are 2 types of noises that may bother you. One is the your glider makes e.g. barking, hissing, crabbing etc. This one can be managed if you look after your glider properly. But occasionally you'd get some barking here & there.

The second type noise is the noise from your glider's activities e.g. chewing, jumping around the cage, playing with the toys etc. Well I don't think there's anything you can do with the jumping & chewing. As for the toys, I'd suggest you to get "soft" toys e.g. tiny pillows, ropes, furballs etc. So when they play with those kinda toys, it won't be as noisy as if you put hard solid toys.

As for letting it roam around you room, well it's strongly recommended that you be aware where your glider is. They get into the weirdest accidents, some times you don't even know how it happened. Like I heard of someone who let his glider run around the bedroom & then he fell asleep. Next morning he woke up with a flatten glider under him. Or when you move around & accidentally sandwiched your glider. My case was I let my glider roam free in the bathroom, then next morning I woke up finding my glider swimming in the toilet bowl. I did close the lid & it's pretty heavy, till now I got no idea how & why she squeezed herself through that heavy lid & dived into the bowl.
