How to train the glider from not making noise itself? As long as not too often like bark whole night then I'm fine haha. I'm just planning to get one. Will be getting a 86cm cage and place it beside my bed. Also eyeing on some DIY toys and pouches now. Hehe. I'm worried of the peeing and pooing.. what if they aim at my bed......
*
You can't train them not to make noise. Noise essentially is a form of communication. It's like how I can't tell you not to complain if you're hungry or you're bored, just wait it out or something like that.

So that's why I said those kinda noise can be reduced (not 100% gone) if you look after your glider properly. If it's barking whole night long that means something is wrong & your glider is trying to communicate it with you. Normally barking means they're lonely & need someone to play/accompany them.

The 86cm is a 2ft cage, it's not really the ideal cage for gliders in the long term. I have both 2ft & 4ft, the 2ft one is more for the babysitter when I'm away on a holiday cause it's a bit of a hassle to move the 4ft cage around. Once they grow bigger, you'd want the 4ft cage so that they got enough room to jump around.

Well, gliders need a lot of rest. They don't exactly jump & run around whole night long. I did stayed up whole night before, mine got sleep few hours at night one.

So yea, when you do bring your glider out....try to avoid noisy places or do things that will disturb it sleeping a lot.

I have a urgent concern to look into. One of my female glider have a potential swollen eye and she refuse to let me hold her to do a closer inspection. If I need to send her to the vet, how am I going to handle her during the consultation? The bonding between me and the her isn't strong yet and I usually have to rely on the male glider to get her attention.

Current eye condition is that there is some white discharge beside her eye and slight swell at the bottom.

Just book an appointment with a vet ASAP before it's too late. Your glider's health is at stake, http://suggiesathome.com/category/health/

Try to put away your hand first. I used to handfeed my gliders HPW by using mini straws or a syringe. As long as they dont smell you, they wont crab that much. Just have patient on introducing food to them.
Now to my updae on my female glider, good and bad all come at once tongue.gif

Good news is she's pregnant. According to the pouch fluffiness, it seems like there is 2 joeys coming out soon and I mistaken her slow activity due to her eye swell.

Eye swell subsided after given her a quick home remedy with natural eye seline and warm water wipe (Google hangout session with my fellow vet friend in States while doing so). Appointment made with Dr Yeoh since the clinic is super near to my house.

The bad news is her nails are super long. Eye infected due to her forceful action of pulling off her nail from getting stuck. After a night in the nail trimming track, she can now easily remove her nail from getting stuck and will see from there.
*
Congratz & let us know how it go with Dr Yeoh later. Sounds like you haven't bring your gliders there before.

1) yday I try some scrambler egg with some hpw and honey..not interested oso shocking.gif
2) Bugsy Premium diet pellet..not interested oso..
3) Ate 1 mealworm and few bite apple only..
4) gave him some honey, he licked few times only..(Brand) Nectaflor Acacia honey..( Can or not?)

You're from Klang?

My 2 cents la.....don't use HPW Complete, it's damn expensive & there'll be wastage as the power will hardens as it get exposed to air moist regularly. Use the normal HPW that requires you to buy honey, egg & then scramble them all together before keeping them in the freezer. If you don't have a freezer, then looks like you'll be using HPW complete then lol.

Anyway the most important part is ensure your glider still take papaya or bak choy as those are high in calcium. Don't just feed apples all the way although it's easy, convenient & less messy.

Lastly like emino said, they won't starve themselves to death. They will eat whatever you give (as long as it's edible la) when they're hungry, so don't worry. They're picky eaters, but you can change their taste. My glider used to ignore yogurt drops back when she's young. But I continue giving until now, the moment she hear me opening the yogurt drop pack only, straight away jump at me waiting for the yogurt drop de.

yes im from klang. ohh ok..yalor quite expensive leh..rm46++ 1 pack..and I think I should buy some yogurt drop for him..hehehe
*
Ahh which part? Wanna keep in touch cause just few days ago I was searching high & low for people to look after my glider cause I'll be away for 1 week hehehe. Didn't expect to travel a lot recently.

HPW complete wasn't that expensive if I'm not mistaken. I got a spare normal HPW if you want, but you gotta buy the egg & honey la.

Hi, im about curious whether my sg has bonded with me/my family or not. I tend to put my hand inside the cage to touch him when he is awake. He will not bite or run away.. just stand still there.. I used to feed him with my own hand, not in the food bowl we gave. My mom also talks to him everyday.

He will not bite or act aggressively. Does this mean my sg is bonded wif us already? Can we take him out without a pouch?
*
Sounded bonded la, it's a matter of how bonded now lo. I heard some people's glider can run back to them even though they let others play with their glider. Thats my target now! Hehe.

Currently the best I can get is my glider running to me whenever she hear the sound of the yogurt drop plastic package opening.

bring them out as in put on our body and let them walk around without jumping to other place
*
Well, you can try that with caution la. I only dare to do that in enclosed area. Still there's a risk that your glider got frightened & suddenly jump off to run for hiding. So I probably just let her out, show people for a while & hen put her back In her pouch.

Mine been making that sound on & off too over a year already. It's neither crabbing, barking nor it's hissing, not too sure what that means though.

Hi. I have a question to ask all sifu here.

My sis sugar glider recently became very afraid of her cage. She wouldnt go down to the bottom of the cage. But once out of the cage, she will be alright. The night before she was still alright. But we are not sure what happen. Everytime we put her back in the cage, she will go up to the cage and when she stare down, she will move her tail around and it looks like a cat with its tail raise. Like she is afraid of something. We already wash the cage and took her to the vet but the vet say she is fine and healthy.

So anyone experienced this before with their glider? Need some help here. Thank you very much in advance.
*
Sounds like normal, gliders like being in high places.

There's some tips on introducing gliders to each other in the 1st page. Maybe you can read up some more online.

There's no guarantee cause each glider behaves differently, just like us humans. So you just gotta be patience.

hai peeps. I wanna get some advice :'(

I'm in UK but my mom in malaysia bought a sugarglider because it was being abused by the family of the previous owner.

(i didn't approve but she did it anyway). And now the glider is just in the cage because it wouldn't come out. I think its scared. It's been less than a week. I thought sugar gliders need to be out and in pockets or some stuff? I read that it's a sociable creature and loves company. so i feel like its really depressing to just sit in the cage.

Is there away to make her open up to my mom so that it would at least spend time out of the cage?
*
Patience young padawan.

Firstly, your glider need to get used to the new environment (your house). Normally it'll take a week or so for joey, but yours is a matured glider (i assume?), so may be longer. Also I think it did came out, just that you never notice lol. Mine won't come out if there's light on, she likes the darkness hehe.

Once she got used to the environment, feeling less scared & stressed, she'll come out when she's comfortable. Mine absolutely love the dried yogurt drops, to the point that just by hearing the sound of me opening the yogurt drop container, she'll pop her head out to see if there's really any yogurt drop waiting for her or not. You can buy those yogurt drops from most pet shops.

Then you can start keeping her in a bonding pouch with you during the day time. They're nocturnal so daytime it'll be sleeping, so if you're bringing it around in a bonding pouch, try to avoid noisy places. This bonding period varies from 1 glider to another, some people need more than a year to be bonded with their glider. So be patience, give it time to grow into you.

BTW they're not like hamsters that will be roaming around the cage most of the time. They're usually asleep throughout the day & only comes out active for several hours at night. Unless you've really trained yours to be awake during the day & be less afraid of the light.

It's not really biting, if it really bites....your mom hands would be bleeding pretty badly already.

But yes it's annoying whenever my glider does that.

Erm, not sure how true...but from someone else's experience, normally single glider will develop nibbling habits.
