On the contrary, for me, 7.1 gives battery life than 7.0. Perhaps the different user experiences with 7.1 are due app compatibility issues. I'm not a big app guy, I just use my BB for email, chat and social networking.

Doesn't look normal to me. My phone left the charger at 7am (100%) and now at 2:30pm (after 7.5 hours), I still have 75% of juice in my original JM1 battery, on 3G+2G mode. 3 push mail accounts active (gmail), a bit of foursquare, twitter and facebook activity, about 5-10 mins of calls and 3-5 SMS messages plus some light whatsapp and BBM.

Note : I am running the leaked OS7.1 on my 9790 with battery saving mode enabled.

Maybe your usage is much higher than mine.. perhaps your email volume is higher or your chat traffic is heavier.

My batt is now 65% (7am to almost 6pm, approx. 11 hours).

Maybe it's OS7.1 - I do notice the battery saving mode does work pretty well for me. I don't use 2G-only mode unless I am outdoors (e.g. full day seminar or customer visit) so most of the time I leave my phone in 2G-3G mode to make web browsing a bit more tolerable. I receive about 50-80 email per account on a daily basis, so it's not heavy email usage for me.

Just got back home, btw. Total active usage today = 44 mins. Battery at 45%, after 16 hours.

No news on official 7.1 for the 9790 under any telco yet, as far as I know.

9900 - best keyboard, higher resolution screen, bigger display, faster cpu, 720p video capture, louder speaker
9790 - lighter phone, better battery life, camera can auto-focus, nicer to hold (for me), usb port at the bottom (more convenient)

These are based on my experience owning and using both models.

Could be an app or two doing stuff in the background. For example, I get this sometimes when I leave the Foursquare app running and searching for nearest venues to check in to, and then I switch to another app.

Sometimes even leaving the web browser active in the background with a few tabs open will do this.

Well, my usage pattern has not changed, other than the fact that I ran os7.1 on my 9810 and am also running os7.1 on my 9790.

Battery life for me on the 9790 has been the best among the three models. I don't have to worry at all about running out of juice from 7am to 11pm. In fact my 9790 still has 40% batt left now. Don't even need to consider the sun global 1850mah batt

My 9790 is always on 3g. I only use 2g-only mode when I am going to be out of the office for the whole day (ie visiting customer).

I push 3 gmail accounts (email, calendar, contacts synced), I use facebook, twitter, foursquare, whatsapp and gtalk. I don't install many apps or any games. My BB is only for communication and social networking. I always enable the 'battery saving mode' on my phone (new feature in os7.1).

I don't need 3G when I am out of the office for the whole day because I'd have no time for web browsing or other activities that require higher network speeds. Plus I tend to receive and make more calls than I usually do, so I play safe on battery usage

Battery-life wise, based on my experience, 9900 is the worst, followed by the 9810 then the 9790.

You're welcome bro. After using 3 OS7 devices, I feel the 9790 has just the right balance of pros vs. cons.

Not much info on the phone itself.. I just can either turn it on to 'always enabled' or enabled only once the battery drops below a certain level (e.g. 30%). Seems to work for me, though.

I have an 11200mah yoobao power bank for emergency charging, have tested it before with my 9790 - the 1A port charges the phone fine, but the 2A port doesn't, if I remember correctly.

Usually, though, my phone easily makes it through the day (7am to 10pm) without my having to charge it. I am using the original JM1 battery.

My yoobao thing is just a standby. Usually I don't need to charge my 9790 between 7am and 10pm.

No issue detected so far. I am also running the latest beta App World 3.1, beta Facebook 3.0, beta Twitter 3.0and beta BBM 6.2 (signed up for them on Blackberry Beta site).

Which part is lagging? I remember someone made a suggestion that a few battery pulls will solve it. Personally, no lag experienced on my part compared to OS7.0. In fact OS7.0 used to lag everytime I tapped the speaker icon to change phone profiles - this doesn't happen to me on OS7.1.
