Can i celebrate for Manchester's bro not playing with us?
And.. thanks for Anelka. QUOTE "The Europa League is a competition I've never been in at United and it does mean one thing - Sundays right through. Thursdays and Sundays. That's got to be dealt with and it's not the best but that's our penalty for not qualifying tonight." - Ferguson. This post has been edited by kiien_kyan: Dec 8 2011, 09:55 AM |

AvB is like a mini-mourinho.. so if we progress to meet Real Madrid, it can go either way. LoL
AvB used to do the details for Mourinho, so AvB should understand Mourinho's style/tactics better than most managers? AvB to +1 over Mourinho if Chelsea clashes with Real Madrid |

LOL. definitely a slap in the face for the media. they keep talking about Chelsea's slim chances to get into the last 16 but and they are so optimistic that the manchester clubs will definitely proceed. if we start playing like how we did against Valencia, i think we will be able to get a string of wins.
Valencia might have loads of possession but they were around the center of the field. they werent very threatening compared to our counter attacks. maybe the early goal helped but our defense was definitely rock solid. if we can beat City in the league, that would be a huge confidence boost for the club. Added on December 8, 2011, 12:17 pmthese are the teams that we might go up against. CSKA Moscow, Zenit St Petersburg, AC Milan, Napoli, Marseille , Lyon, Basel. who would you prefer we get? Napoli, Marseille and Lyon could be a bogey team. CSKA, Zenit and Basel: i strongly believe we can win against these team. sad to see both mancs team crash out. would love to see all 4 english teams in QF like few season ago. Both Mancs club will be focusing on league from now on i guess. |

QUOTE(ericling @ Dec 8 2011, 09:42 AM) And AC Milan too, they're pretty strong. Yup, these are his words before Valencia game:Oh, interesting, did AVB say that? We played wonderful counter attack football against Valencia, one of the best for years. Both Manchester went to Europa to bully small teams. AVB>Mancini and Ferguson? Oh well "You've seen us play enough to know that we always take the initiative," "We won't change our strategy. We want good quality possession football." AC Milan ... |

so both manchester club not qualified for round of 16 ? oh well... doesnt really matter to me actually.. we should just focus on our beloved chelsea. furthermore, there are still strong teams out there like real madrid, barca, bayern, inter, milan etc. dun expect to get ucl trophy unless we beat one or two or even three of all these teams. ktbffh

top of the group and carefree!
so finally the high line is converted to a more conservative back four, and valencia as well as newcastle couldn't break through. what an efficient and controlled performance, with some frighteningly quick counter-attacking football! i'm telling u, the speed at which ramires, studge and mata cover the pitch would be enough to make any team think twice of going gung-ho against us. i feel this is the strategy we need to adopt vs city as well, and its good to see a manager who isn't too 'stubborn' in sticking to a formula which evidently lacks some key ingredients for it to work. drogba was a beast, i'll give him that. he did the business when it mattered most, and don't forget the supporting cast was crucial in helping him dispatch those two goals. studge had less space to run into, but was still involved in most of our attacks and he supplied that pinpoint cross-field pass for mata that lead to our opener. oreo is another monster who has literally kicked mikel to the bench, and our young nigerian will need to show a different side to his game to usurp our new DM master. the key to oreo's brilliance lies in the speed and accuracy of his challenges imo, and who knew they taught u the art of tackling at La Masia! juan gave the assists when it mata'd (sorry couldn't resist our defensive line held it together even better than when we faced newcastle, and i do believe valencia are the better team. there were some nervy moments but overall AVB has shown he knows how to organise a solid defensive wall which suit the characteristics of our players. bring on the city slickers! p. s: special thanks to genk for getting a draw vs leverkusen which enabled us to emerge group winners. who would've thought it eh? the gaffer is spot on about the media singling us out for special treatment, and as both manchester giants crash out in the group stages of the CL its really satisfying to deliver a double, extra hard slap to all those chelsea-hating rags. as madfag pointed out they were so damn sure the ONLY club in trouble was us, and all utd and city needed to do was turn up. i for one am going to enjoy all those extra small headlines about the red devils dumped out of the easiest champions league group, and the extra large ones about how AVB will be sacked and chelsea thrown back into the dark ages if they fail to secure all 3 points vs city |

Really hope that AVB used the same player n same tactic against City..
They all have the confident n they deserve it. Then after City, we can rotate the squad. |

After city is Wigan then Spurs, if I remember clearly.
Wigan game hope our players don't complacent. Too be honest, City game I just hope for the best, our record against strong teams this season isn't exactly marvelous. I just hope it's a positive performance, and hope for City to have some sort of European knock-out hangover. Off topic a bit, I really pity Luis Suarez. He's just new to the EPL and already a bit unfairly abused as a cheater. Strikers going down easily is understandable, in fact, the only striker who doesn't fall over easily is Messi. I don't remember Drogba ( few years back) , Nani and Ronaldo getting as much stick as Suarez. |
