lol i dont know how to explain that. k from what i saw, it seems tail and fins are longer and larger from those hmpk.
btw i like the pricey one. lol.

That is interesting. Perhaps the finnage you refer to belongs to the long fin halfmoon type. Follow your heart, pick and purchase what you like best is what's best to satisfy yourself. You must have been totally attracted by their finnage. Have fun!

oh. thanks for answering. i was confused when i saw they selling those ikan laga rm 7. while those with label hmpk and plakat etc etc for rm40-50-70.
i kinda like them. can we keep bettas with shrimp?

I think putting the shrimp with bettas is like putting a plate of lobster in front of Edmund laugh.gif

LuQee, can you post pic of your dropsy betta? How to tell if a betta has dropsy?

LOL at the lobster platter served to Edmund.

LittleBetta, this is how dropsy betta looks like. Warning in advance of viewing the photo may cause disgust in your belly.

See? It looks like some puffed up scales. In this case, just as Edmund has pointed out that unless if you know how to perform bladder operation, otherwise the betta is 99% KO.

mine is kinda like that but without the puff up scale, read that if the scale is not upright, the betta can still survive but with those bloated appearance.
mine already 2 months cry.gif

Thanks, shuyin_lenne_2007, was reading more about it http://www.flippersandfins.net/dropsy.htm So I guess my previous fancy had dropsy, but the pinecone wasn't as prominent. He didn't last a week and some of his scales dropped. =( Maybe yours isn't dropsy LuQEE.

Hello and welcome to the betta splendens thread!

That looks like a lovely steel blue or perhaps royal blue veiltail male betta from the blurry photo. How much does it costs?

If you're asking about how many times to feed daily, I would recommend not to feed too much instead of feed too little.

I will feed my bettas once per day or when I feed them with live food like blood worms, I would diet them for a day or two after the feed.

You wouldn't want to train your betta to keep eating and can't survive without food for a day or two or even more than that (if you plan to go for a trip for example).

Regarding the hatred of light, bettas do live in a quiet and stagnant water in the wild and the question is, who likes to be kept under the glaring light?

Try to give them some day and night feel just like how you live at home on a daily basis, unless you are a person who loves daylight 24/7.

Beginner tips, not really I could think of any. Well, easy it is though. Here are a few of it which I believe will be useful for you:

- Make your betta happy; give it some flaring exercise to keep them fit; keep it in a larger tank if you do have one; feed it with live food at times and it will show you its most beautiful colours.

Happy keeping betta and have fun!

It can be differentiate without effort that the betta shown is a male.

Not bad for the pricing, I could get a veiltail for RM2 though, but RM3 is still reasonable.

Happy keeping it!

Shrimp? What kind of shrimp? Do you mean baby brine shrimp? Why don't you try to get daphnia? RM1 and you will get a pack sufficient for free-flow supply for your betta fries.

daphnia is quite difficult to find. depend on location also.
bbs is much easier. can easily breed in 24hrs.

i'm using syringe as per Luqee post. got it free from pharmacy together with my daughter' med tongue.gif
you can use this also, the turkey baster

poor quality bbs may lead to poor hatch rate thus low amount of hatched bbs but a lot of unhatched eggs...

anyway, this is how i feed my fries with bbs...

step 1 : off the air pump and remove the air stone then wait for 20-30 minutes

step 2 : use a torch light to point at a particular spot at the middle of the bottle (at least 5 minutes) so tat most of the bbs will gather at the light spot

step 3 : use an air pump tube to suck at that point (minimum egg shell but maximum active bbs) into a small jar/coffee filter/daphnia net

step 4 : rinse the bbs with freshwater

step 5 : use a syringe to suck the bbs then "SHOOT" into the fries tank..

Welcome onboard. Beautiful delta tail male by the looks of it, unless it is a halfmoon if I'm mistaken.

When you said 'flipmode reporting in', I thought you were referring to the betta has gone belly-up and KO-ed, until I've noticed it was your username.
