Let me put this time line right:
2012/12/21: signed up iValue Simple 1GB Plan with iPhone package
*bill cycle: 5th? 7th? of the month?
if 5th: meaning to say 21st to 5th will be approx 16 days, prorated will be 16 of 30 days = 53% of 1GB = 530mb allocated till 5th of Jan 2013
if 7th: meaning to say 21st to 7th will be approx 18 days, prorated will be 18 of 30 days = 60% of 1GB = 600mb allocated till 7th of Jan 2013
2012/01/02: received maxis sms saying u used up 80% of prorated data
*this sms tells you that you have used up 80% of:
if 5th is the cycle date: 530mb i.e. you have used 424mb, and you have 530-424mb = 106mb left of free data to use.
if 7th is the cycle date: 600mb i.e. you have used 480mb, and you have 600-480mb = 120mb left of free data to use.
Now here's the thing: if maxis tells you that you have 100mbs left it's probably true.
I assume it's maxis tell you. if it's 100mb you 'assume' you have, which i think you probably monitor it using the general settings within iPhone, maybe you assumed u have 1GB of data till 5th or 7th? then you probably would have used up 800++MB of data.
that's why the unbilled amount reflects the excess data you have used up. better check with Maxis. Tell them you don't know. maybe can appeal to waive it this time. hehe
i experienced this once. got charged a lot of money for excess data. now the safest is i pay for the biggest data plan. at least i know i won't blow the quota.
I hope this answers?
