Can extend, just refer contract extension. As long as old plus new is no more that 30 months is a no biggie. Yeah, totally Understand how u feel as I too called customer service and 2 of 3 gave me the wrong solution I.e:
- no u can't do contract extension since u got 12 months to go (out of 24)
- oh u have to cancel n pay penalty n take new plan.

After the 2nd one I checked out the contract extension portion on the iPhone 5 page, calculated, and old (12) plus new plan (12 months) is a no brainer n approvable. Even the 3rd customer service guys agrees. "Yes sir, why would u pay penalty+cancel when u can just extend no more than 30 months total?"
(Hope maxis is watching n will educate customer service better)

How much is your monthly usage normally? Do you use a lot of data?

IF you call and use data a lot. I believe this time Maxis offering a very good package so both 12 or 24 month also good for you.

But if you only using prepaid and monthly usage only less then RM30 include call and data. Both also not good for you.

i currently using prepaid and my usage is average. it's just that i keep hunting down for wifi sometimes for fb-ing insta-ing and times like using the map when i go other states for fun with friends then i have to buy the one day internet access pass. i didn't want to go for digi due to coverage and been maxis user since 1st phone. i still able to pay myself the rm100 permonth just that nid to refinance my expences. just wondering 12 or 24-month maybe also due to the iphone price varies for 12 and 24- month contract

12 month plan is best as in one year time the plan will change and will definitely be cheaper than now
Really admired you students that can afford such high end phones.
Even though i can afford to buy it, I will never pay more than RM 500 for a phone for my 3 children. Infact all of them graduated past 1-5 years with their still RM300-500 phones. Call me old fashion, I feel Students should spend time studying and not playing with their phones. I do not mind spending RM5K for a MacBook Air as it helps them in their studies. Since all of them working now, they are free to buy whatever phone no matter how expensive it is
