Geramnya Asus.
Looks like even if you like the G55, have to wait. If you manage to actually get one, & have problem, have to wait. Send for repair, have to wait. email Asus to clarify something, have to wait.
They hire waiters for their service ppl ke?
Anyways, Lenovo is coming out with the Y580 which has similar specs. I still prefer Asus but if no choice & Asus dun wan my businesss, what to do?

by the time the lenovo laptops arrive, g55 will also arrive bro...either asus or lenovo, have to wait..but the quality of asus g55 and the looks of the g55 is better and nicer than lenovo bro
edit: msi i dont know tongue.gif

but the msi laptops are expensive bro, the msi ge60 which has only nvidia gt660m is rrp rm4399,,that is rm400 more than the g55 which has gtx660m,,.the stronger msi gt60 which has gtx670m is rm5000 above, not sure will be spending that much money just for a gaming laptop...for that rm5000 can get a super powerful gaming desktop. smile.gif dont mind spending rm4399 for the msi ge60 with gt660m, but the graphic cArd is less powerful than the g55..what do you think bro? smile.gif

lol gpu is not the only unit that is in the laptop, gt series has steel series keyboard and gt and ge has both thx sounds system. their quality built is definitely much better than asus's built, this is another reason why asus spoil easily.

btw ge series price has droped 200-400 already and it was long time ago when this laptop 1st introduced. hopefully they will introduce better one the following months.

I honestly wouldn't say that. I have my fair shares of interest in the MSI laptops as well after a few frustrating moments waiting and searching for my then G53sx (now G55). You just have to keep watching/reading the reviews about the MSI gt60/70. The materials aren't actually that excellent. If i am to be honest, it is lower built than better built compared to the Asus G series. Also, not to mention their heating system are no where as good as ours. A reviews has stated that the temp heats up significantly during gaming, and the fan can get really loud. I honestly dont recalled Asus being known to spoil easily, they're mostly known for their awful after sales service. MSI on the other hand, has lesser users in Malaysia. So to compare it to Asus, it's kinda unfair. And i'll go back with the same ol thang again, no laptop brands that has a better build quality than the others the only difference it makes is their warranty service. Even Dell has problems with their laptops.

The gt60 has a steel series backlit keyboard, but dont take this as the same as the alienware's keyboard. Alienware's keyboard has a light range that is just nice for the users. But it is still nicer than Asus G series, it is sad that the Asus G55 doesnt come with colors variant keyboard. And don't get me started on the Ge60/70 tongue.gif the first thing that put me off is the pathetic design.

But in terms of performance, MSI offers better deal than Asus G55. I was really into the MSI gt60, and would have gotten that if budget wasn't an issue. Actually, i'd have prefer to get a fully maxed out Alienware m17x if budget is not an issue tongue.gif

yeah i agree with the hot temp of msi laptop which is a big turn off for most of the people. However my impression of asus is like plastic and msi is like metal lol..
i heard asus has alot of hardware design and firmware programming problems. so i am not sure myself.. i guess many people say depends on luck.

actually the design of the g55 is far more gaming like compared to msi..and after reading some reviews, i noticed the main problem of msi is temperature increase very fast..gt60 is around rm5000 plus and has gtx670 3gb gddr5...but since heating is a problem, i would not choose msi Gaming laptops because heat makes the components spoil..on the other hand, g55 and g75 has superior cooling system and DAMN quiet,..if budget wasnt a issue, i would also get the maxed out alienware m18x special edition with two gpus in crossfire of sli..thats right, there is another more powerful alienware which is the m18x..the ratio of msi to asus laptops users is like 1:50..

anyways just for fun, check out the m18x

Actually, the rubberized material is what makes the build quality gooding too thumbup.gif many people have said many things on other laptop brands as well. But in the end, it depends on luck. I just hope mine wont come in faulty after the long wait..

there was a guy selling an overseas set for m18x for rm5500. Low end specs, but still good. I'd have gone for the m18x if portability is not an issue. Other than that, i'd love to own an AW in the future smile.gif

Hi Sky,
Could you ask about the RAM? Some shops are saying its 1333MHz, some 1600MHz.
Also, the price and availability if they don't have it now.
And how much is the maximum RAM we could upgrade without voiding the warranty or sending the laptop to the dreaded Asus Service Center Hulktichian.

Saw another funny review where the user was complaining about the weight & the lack of a ROG Wheel Barrow to cart the G55 around in. smile.gif
http://www.amazon.com/G55VW-ES71-15-6-Inch...howViewpoints=1

Btw, I did email Asus & all I received so far is "We are looking into it & will get back to you". This is about 3 weeks back & I asked again as recent as last week. But no reply yet. sad.gif

Thanks,

Yeah, it's a desktop. But using different gpu.

mainly for architectural softwares and rendering lo biggrin.gif there are portable workstation like the Dell Precision laptops. These laptops are using a different type of gpu we normally seen in our laptop, and are generally stronger. Although some mentioned that the gpu used in the workstation are not suitable for gaming but i've seen people gaming on it as well. Haha, maybe fps not that good la. But the problem is, portable workstation cost just as much as a maxed out Alienware m18x doh.gif but since im just a student, dont need such computer yet. So g55 will do thumbup.gif hope it'll last me for 3-4years.

I like the everki beacon backpack, but i prefer the astro scout design biggrin.gif also, its good to have different backpacks owner so can give review/opinions for new owners of this beast brows.gif

I think there are many G55 users here mentioned that the RAM is indeed 1600mhz already and even posted image of it as proof hmm.gif can't trust the sellers word for it. Sometimes they also not sure about it themselves. And if i'm not mistaken, there are 2 user accessible slots for RAM and another two not user accessible slots for RAM. Not sure if you'll void the warranty if you max your RAM. Cause i'm planning to max mine to 16gb.

and that guy probably doesnt know that gaming laptop will be this heavy rclxms.gif
