Ok guys, so I catched up to the news of marketplace is opened in Malaysia. What should we do now for those with Singapore account before?
*
As I mentioned before, there MIGHT be a way to migrate the country, but if you didn't feel safe about it you should have used a dummy account first.

I still don't see Malaysia in the marketplace or apphub website though.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like it's gonna be that issue. The reason is that your BILLING COUNTRY is not the same as your actual country.

It was something I expected a year ago.

Only if you're still using the same Live ID, as I have mentioned your BILLING COUNTRY is not the same as the country you set under region+langauge in settings.

Login to https://billing.microsoft.com and look for your personal information for the Live ID you're using you'll see what Country it's locked to.

My billing country is set to Singapore. i guess it's a gone case for me since i'm definitely not gonna reset my phone nor use a different live id. Maybe if enough people email and complain to ms they might do something about it.

Technically lying about where you are already violated the service agreement.

How clever of them to sell the phone in Malaysia yet not allow you to choose Malaysia as your home country. All this regioning and country locking is a concept that needs to die.
*
I agree with you that regioning needs to die, but until all the"exclusive distributor for X country" contracts expire, that's not happening.

Added on February 4, 2012, 4:59 pmAlso, everyone needs to not get offended by content so easily. I m still trying to figure out the special 'restrictions' apps targeted for Malaysia will have to pass.

Trying to use our local credit cards in US region marketplace is much more difficult than Singapore. But you can try.

As for the RM300 GPS app, I think that's for the Garmin one right? Everyone was screaming about how crazy it was when they released it.

But the main thing is.. Selecting Malaysia as your Live ID account works now? Website still doesn't show Malaysia.

Work around is to set your browser & search region setting to US. You can use it again! Thanks god the browser and application is not actually tied with your account as google does. Hope they leave it this way, atleast before our region is support again.

Well, part of the agreement with Nokia is for MS to get access to Nokia's OVI map data. So let's see how that turns out.

we should see at least one or two more full platform updates for 1st gen Windows Phones.

As for USSD support, yeah.. that's a big problem for us. I'm pretty certain they don't use it much in the US that's why no one thinks its a big deal to fix it over there. hopefully this wrong gets right soon.

ayam sad, switched to Malaysia Live ID, but it seems many popular apps not available for Malaysian marketplace . I miss apps like WPCentral, Mehdoh, YoutubePro, and many more...ah well, as long as I can buy apps using local credit card

Hopefully this issue will be fixed in the future
*
You'll have to wait for the app developer to resubmit their apps so that they can get certified for sale in Malaysia.

You signed in with a Malaysian ID? Restart the phone by holding on the power to turn it off and try again.

I have Malaysian Live ID. However, still cannot access Marketplace even after Factory Reset. All the Region & Language settings have been set to English (Malaysia). My phone is Nokia Lumia 800 but it is Singapore stock. I wonder if that affects the marketplace selection?
*
Yeah, after factory reset and you login with a Malaysian id, restart the phone. Does your Games hub show Xbox live or chess piece icon?

guys wanna ask something about whatsapp...
so it is said it will be paid version after one year of the whatsapp being launched, it means we have to buy it?
even we downloaded it already now...  blink.gif

No idea, that seems to be their usual message that you can use their services for free for the 1st year. It's just their way of covering their bases so they can move to charge model if necessary.

thanks for the confirmation bro, btw just wanna ask, is there big difference between singapore region and US region? the amount of apps? smile.gif

yes, there'll be subtle differences between SG and US region. Most visible if you're an XBL player cause a few of the XBL utilities aren't released outside of US.

Paypal should be for purchases made on Xbox Live only.. can that be used on the phone? Let me go check.

Added on February 15, 2012, 11:55 amOk.. just tried. added PayPal on XBOX.COM but it doesn't show up on my phone. I don't think you can use PayPal for phone purchase yet.

Yes, the main difference is that only the Primary Live ID's XBox Live, Messenger and Skydrive can be used. Contacts, Emails can be linked without any problem.

Office Skydrive only for primary email, but downloading the Skydrive app you can key in other hotmail accounts and it will work too. smile.gif

It seems to work for everything EXCEPT OneNote notebooks, which sucks for me since what I used the most.

Yeah unfortunately the OneNote notebooks is quite complicated as to how the phone reads it.
*
If the other Live ID has shared the notebook to the main Live ID on the phone, then it seems to be ok. But just plainly trying to open any public One Note? Not possible. Minor annoyance!

Hi, I just want to clarify something. I am currently using Nokia Lumia 800 with Maxis as my service provider. How do I set the 3G settings and MMS settings. An answer would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
*
3G should just work, I didn't set anything for my HTC Radar. As for MMS... hmmm.. there's a Network setup app right? try that and see if Malaysia Maxis is listed. note that if you see Maxis and Maxis 3G listed, you need to choose the 3G one.
