QUOTE(gome @ Jan 4 2012, 10:57 PM)
hey guys, my 4820tg touchpad suddenly stopped working. but here's the funny thing:

-i uninstalled the synaptics driver and reboot
-on reboot, windows detects the touchpad and begins installing the synaptics driver. at this point, the touchpad works.
-upon completion of the driver installation, i'm requested to restart.
-after restart, the touchpad stops working again.

i even went to the extreme of reinstalling windows 7 (sort of a spring cleaning), but the same thing happens (even on a clean install!). any idea what's happening?

thanks!

Tried using other version driver ?
What kind of not working, cannot move the cursor at all or no gestures?
After you uninstall the driver and just using the default driver from Windows, does it stop working as well ?

This will depends which PLL chip you got.
Run the SetFSB, change the PLL to Asus G73JH, then try Get FSB, see if it returns correct number (no negative),

i tried using the driver suggested by ngkhanmein, but to no avail. the problem is that the whole touchpad is not working - the cursor does not move and the buttons do not respond.

after uninstalling the synaptics driver, upon reboot, Windows will install the default driver. at this point, the touchpad works (cursor and buttons). but Windows will require a restart to complete the driver installation. so after restarting, the touchpad stops working all over again.

Ater restart, when the touchpad stops working.
Can you go to device manager and check the touchpad name, was it Synaptics or something compatible touchpad ?

Did you plug in mouse when the touchpad stops working? There is option to disable touchpad when mouse is plugged in.

Have you tried pressing Fn + F7 when the touchpad stop working ?

Pretty much if it doesn't work, the computer will hang and you just need to force restart. Then done.

Ohh can only use setfsb lah? If I use that, then I shutdown my laptop. Will the cpu turns to its original clock?

Then I shouldn't overclock it. Just overclock the gpu would do it.
