FF... darn... I'm in love with FF now ><

They are err... currently warming the bench? My SB900 not discharged yet sad.gif damn.

Another D5100 user.. Can't agree more with this. D7000 control is much better. if I wasn't limited by my budget, i'd go for d7000 any time.
*
Yeah, if budget isn't an issue the D7000 is a very good deal just like the D90 back then.

depends on users lor.. more experienced users will ask for better control like quick access to more settings, more customization, more info at a glance, etc...

i wouldn't give beginners a D300 or D700... all the switches with cryptic alphabets gonna confused them....

for me... the lower quality main LCD n the lack of the mono LCD control panel is a deal breaker in the D3100 n D5100...
*
When I was new, my first DSLR is a D90 and I still prefer D300's layout.

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Nov 28 2011, 02:33 PM)
How much is your total damage for the whole set?

I still find myself struggling with flashgun especially at places with high ceiling. TTL doesn't work so effective for me or rather I'm not sure how to control it yet? sad.gif
*
FlexTT5 x3, 1 AC3... total RM2000+ sad.gif heartache sobs sobs... Still haven't got the chance to use it in field yet to.

QUOTE(C_Sagi @ Nov 28 2011, 03:46 PM)
Now rem kids, u'll get sue if u do this... LOL! tongue.gif

Reminds what I saw the other day... 2 photog team with SB600 (or a speedlight similar size), with entry/semi pro body with very small lens... i'm guessing its the 18-55 because he's standing very close in LOL.

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Nov 28 2011, 05:42 PM)
Some church allows while some not. Check with the church management before starting to shoot, best is a day before so you could plan your shooting especially when no flash can be used. Surround the area and take note on the lighting setup.
*
Yeah, church photography is always a challenge when you're not allowed to use flash. Else is prime lens + fast lens, and also lighting is flat if its those building church rather than the conventional ones.

QUOTE(C_Sagi @ Nov 28 2011, 06:06 PM)
This lady use a kit lens... thats the hebat part.  biggrin.gif
And i believe the camera model she use cost less than what she charge on the couple. tongue.gif
*
LOL, hebat! 18-55... and 70-300... that one is one heck of slow lens indoors without flash.

Me too. I'm using D7000 now and would prefer D300s/D700 layout anytime smile.gif

You got 3 flashguns now? I'm more interested to know what you are gonna do with your new little gears laugh.gif

Well, I have another friend doing videography on his Canon 550D with 18-55 kit lens. Don't ever look down on the low-end gears, he managed to produce marvellous work with just that. The problem is that when he need to close-up which is most of the time, he'll be blocking the photog doh.gif

If church doesn't allow flash, most of the shots will be bokeh bokeh candid shot and need to bring in tripod liao.
*
2 flash, 1 FlexTT5 will act as the transmitter. You'll see soon enough... tongue.gif

I think its easier on videography in terms of the lens, but for photography kit lens is really challenging unless you know how to handle the lights well, and not all can do that. I survived with f/4 lens on my UWA, stepping to f/5.6 frequently for the DOF, but of course that's on D700 where I can afford to bump ISO up.

And for the tripod topic, would that even help? I'm usually worried of my subjects moving instead of handshake.

not thinking of spending for those starter 180w lighting sets tht start at rm900?

i've seen ppl pay more for ppl using d90 with kit lens biggrin.gif
*
They aren't as versatile as the system I bought... you need plugs to power them up isn't it? or they come with battery?

laugh.gif , that's 180W for ya tongue.gif

QUOTE(Everdying @ Nov 28 2011, 08:12 PM)
well, but if for home studio...u can get more dof at higher shutter speeds...tho the 180w ones still not much dof but still more than speedlights...unless u wanna boost up iso or go lower shutter etc.

Did this sometime ago with f/4,

Not too bad I would say, the flash isn't pushed much yet. Let's see how it goes ;-). The PW for studio at home is only to suit for my lazyness tongue.gif but outdoors the TTL is the part I'm paying for. Not to mention the versatility in controlling the lights and also HSS which my Strato can't provide.

ahh yess flat lighting at churches. a lot modern ones nowadays use fluorescent tubes only. some just a few orange/yellow spotlights.
*
Yeah... but the conventional church ones looks good depending on the number of glasses... nice effect.

QUOTE(ikki9394 @ Nov 29 2011, 12:22 AM)
Today outing shoots about 400+ pictures some with and without flash. The battery usage only +- 20%... is this normal for a D7000 o_O
Looks like I really dunned to buy extra battery for travel d...
*
Key point is, flash usage and also your lens. Lens with VR will consume more battery compared to lens without VR. These really affect battery life.

you should get the Ac adaptor for your studio setup, consistant power supply is good for the electronics, and pictures will turn out better too..... laugh.gif

since you gonna have a studio setup, might as well get this

http://www.eye.fi/......one of it will do , no need too many expensive CF /SD cards  tongue.gif

LOL, the "studio" topic for me is just a plus. I'm more of an outdoor guy ;-)

got one seller mentioned that for SB900, u can switch off the overheat meter to overcome the overheat issue. Just wondering the side effect by switching the meter off, will it caused the speedlite blown off in the first place?
*
I do that when I'm using D90 and kit lens back then... but after I have faster lens and dare to pump higher ISO, i rarely hit the limit so I just let the thermal cut come in. At the moment rarely use flash, the other time shoot in big ball room didn't have issue so far.

QUOTE(MrAkay @ Nov 30 2011, 03:34 PM)
i think biggest is thermal cut off feature dont have anymore. when flash too hot, it increases flash cycle time.
other then that all the same i think.. hence 910 and not 1000
*
So now the SB910 behaves like the 580II...

QUOTE(nocturnal86 @ Nov 30 2011, 06:44 PM)
anyone here know how much the cost of repairing D80 LCD due to the dead pixel?

it is just one tiny spot on the LCD itself.

luckily it not on the sensor.
*
Its normal to have dead pixels on the sensor, try shooting in broad day light directly into the sun and you will kill couple of pixels in the progress tongue.gif I don't think there's any sensor in the world that is defect free from dead pixels.

me at first tought the dead pixel is on censor also,

reading twice, it is on lcd
*
I'm just saying what's so lucky about it being on the LCD instead of sensor since its more common to be on sensor. On the LCD its plain unlucky.

my SB900 also got overheating problem but it only happen if i use TTL mode  with continous shooting, even if i bost iso 1000-1600..now i try to use manual mode with continous shooting & my overheating problem solve, put iso below 1000 also no problem..
*
I heard about this, I shoot all the time in TTL unless somehow unable to get what I want then for a few shots it would be manual. So far haven't been getting issue with the flash overheating. Depends on what battery being used too I guess? I'm using Eneloop.

Not sure about harmolatice, but annsman gets the SB900 heated pretty quick as compared to Eneloop. At least from my experience, when shooting with Eneloop no issue, then later on battery flat, borrowed friend's annsman the warnings started appearing.. and that was after resting my flash for a while since the show had a break.

I'm looking for that too. Will ask my usual shop and see if they are able to order or not. Mean time need to look online to see if its compatible with SB900, which it probably is.

Shashinki.com doesn't have it yet?

I just sent the photo to Yannick and he will check if he would be able to get it smile.gif

It's a new product launched with SB-910 or it has been available all the while? From the description it is compatible with SB-900.

I believe Gardens will be much more difficult to find parking at that hour not to mention jam along the way. I will pick KLCC and of course... I'll park outside KLCC rather than inside. Outside parking like RM3 ~ RM6 flat rate for whole day biggrin.gif
*
KLCC outside also big jam isn't it? o_O but KLCC no choice la I'll park inside ._. my dad will nag at me since I'm driving his car instead of mine xD
