Good that you start to do strobe.
Strobes are much more to learn laugh.gif
*
And much harder to be copied ;-) everyone shoots the same thing now, but strobes not that common yet keke or at least good ones! My inspiration, Zeckson... ahh love the way he uses his flash. The lagi geng photogs no need say la haha~

But oh well, not possible to bring strobes for events tongue.gif or rather I don't dare ._.

Girls love this kinda shot because it makes them look slim ._.

*

Only applicable for 'head shots' la tongue.gif if half body or full body its different story. More lens would be acceptable.

What makes you think 35 f/1.4 don't give subject isolation? o_O

almost the same. but i guess for the same fov, 24mm of cos u go closer to subject to get same fov...so bokeh alittle different...somehow it gives even more of a 3d popping effect.
*
The moment need to close in.. things becomes a little more tricky with portraiture... cause of wide angle perspective >_<

beware of the zoom ring issue.
it will become stiff after sometimes.

Added on November 26, 2011, 9:30 pm
the bokeh given by the 24mm at f1.4 is very unique.
wide view but good isolation.
It gives you the ability to tell the viewer the ambient atmosphere yet isolate them to a certain degree.
35mm is too tight for that kinda job.

if not wrong nikon 24f1.4 is the sharpest 24mm in the market.
*
Wide angles are Nikon's strong point, not surprising if its the best 24mm around. But it somehow the 24mm still isn't as sharp as the 35mm... well I could go for 35mm instead of 24mm anytime ;-). Not to mention cheaper!

yes for wide angle zoom, no for wide angle primes.
canon wide angle primes have been superior for a long time.
nikon is catching up now.
*
I wonder how true this statement was, Nikon had many great wide angle primes lens even before the 24mm. eg. the 13mm f/5.6, one of the best out there.

I think he is referring to digital lens...

the legendary 13mm 5.6 is legend in film era.
and the impractical size.. hahaha
*
But its still a legendary lens tongue.gif

QUOTE(sukhoi37 @ Nov 27 2011, 01:33 AM)
sry, i'm talking about modern lens with AF.  tongue.gif
example?
canon 14mm f2.8L II
canon 24mm f2.8L T-SE II

without the new 24f1.4 and 35f1.4, nikon would be way behind canon in this category.
*
Well, if you intend to twist it that way then I agree with your statement.

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Nov 27 2011, 02:13 AM)
Yeah, suppose to be so. In addition, Canon has announced their next flagship model which interested even their own users who's having problem with 5D Mark II limitation laugh.gif (shared by a master photog based on his experience)
I just played with Cintiq 24HD, RM12,000.00 whistling.gif
*
Now the question is, any field test of the 1DX yet? Previously when 1Dmk4 was announced it got my friend excited, when available to market he instantly bought it. But his comment was the AF wasn't as good as his 7D lol. Now I'm wondering how the 1DX performs, the spec looks very impressive on paper definitely.

what d current price D700...
i see it's higher den last time...?
*
I was told its about RM6300, previously was RM6000. But another factor for it to raise is because of SB900 price drop.

Back then package given by Nikon Msia to retailers was,

D700 + SB900 --> RM6000 + RM1500 (for example..), and now due to price drop from SB900,

D700 + SB900 --> RM6300 + RM1300 or something.

I know the D7000 has better battery life than the D90, it should last you easily, unless of course you're using a lot of pop up flash then figure would change.

I know I did about 600~800 with a single battery on D90. But then again, it depends on weather, cold weather will wear the battery faster.

Yeah, the photog that I knew saying 5D Mark II has several limitation which making him to consider jumping to Nikon. However, he said the new 1D should be eliminating the limitation 5D Mark II had. In which he won't consider much about jumping at the moment. Lolz.

Seen the DOF different between DX and FX. I want a FF now sad.gif
*
Like what I've said, the 1DX looks good on paper now. But still have to see how well it performs in field, and see if Canon actually fixed the long dreaded AF issue of their FF/1.3x bodies.

I got 2 sets. 1 set of 2500mAh and another set of 2000mAh.

The 2500mAh heavier and slightly bigger but still can insert into most battery cartridge. Never facing a problem where it can't fit yet.

In my rough estimation, the 2500mAh gives me about 20% more shots than the 2000mAh. The 2000mAh can last me about 600+ shots on TTL.
Now I understand why you say no turning back once you moved to FF sad.gif

2500 is the orange color Eneloop.
*
There's the XX and also the 2400mAh Pro... hmm...

Now looking for a back drop holder xD... thinking to do a mini studio at home tongue.gif

saw this one.. not bad,

Nuff said, D7000. D5100's control just feels like another M4/3.

Agree, better control than the D90 even.

D3100 --> D5100 --> D90 --> D7000 --> D300s in terms of controls tongue.gif The higher end has more body mechanical switches.

Side note, how much is a brand new MB-D10 now? Thinking to sell mine off, my D90 now serve as my back up want it to be as light as possible biggrin.gif.
