Oh I see.

Okay. Theoretically, carbon bat (fast bat) + Sriver L (medium soft) = mediu fast set-up.
For player who like to spin a lot, use softer rubber with mas thickness. That way when the ball hit into the rubber and you spin it with your wrist/hand, the ball will comes up spinnier from your bat.
For "over-all" player who likes to control play with spin and speed, your set-up is just nice.
For a Flat hitter who depends on speed a slightly harder rubber (medium or medium hard) with a carbon bat will do the trick.

Kenary, try to stroke the ball at least 100 times without failing with a friend or coach/other player. Once you get the "feel" you will know the timing, rythm, power usage to hit the ball the way you want to.

Hope that helps.

Cheers.

depends on what type of game you are playing - are you a near table player or mid- or away from table player? a blocker? a spinner? A whacker (means don't care what ball, come only whack)?

But as a beginner, recommend to use Wooden bat, not composite (carbon/titanium/fibreglass etc) bat.
A 5-ply wooden bat will be ideal as an "Over-all" type of bat - can attack, can defend, block etc. Not too fast or too slow.

my main sport is futsal,so i can move and respond pretty quickly if i have to.
i would say whacker>blocker>spinner.

so the type of bat i use will heavily dictate the way i play is it?

To me, it is hard to find a suitable backhand rubber. I found it in YinHe Saturn Pro. Sticking with it. My first satisfying combination is YinHe/Galaxy Saturn Pro (BH) and YinHe/Galaxy Big Dipper (FH). I loved this combo. These 2 rubbers costs about RM160.00 (From www.tenryu.com.my). Very affordable.

But I bought the DHS Hurricane 3, Provincial a few months ago. After wearing off the old rubber, I am now having Saturn Pro (BH) & DHS H3, Provincial (FH). Before starting to play, I already feel the weight of DHS rubber. Its heavy. Will try in a few days time.

Yasaka Rising Dragon is the top rubber right now in tabletennisdb.com. As they said, plenty of spin and very good control.

For beginners, the type of blade is not really a concern until they are strong with the basic skills. A wooden is most suitable to beginners and it is cheap as well.

Continuous multi ball drill of forehand and backhand drives. With correct technique of holding the blade (shakehand or penhold).

I think that part is ok edi.
Last time i tested with my friend,we managed to hit at least 50 times back and forth, not the lob ball type of hit.
We've been experimenting with different types of serves and i noticed that if the serve has side spin in it,thats where the problem starts for me. cant return a proper ball without getting smashed.

so i guess it doesnt hurt to play with a proper bat right from the beginning, right?
i dont mind forking out a few hundred biggrin.gif

Wow!!! Your basic skills is quite solid then.

On serves, you need lots of practice. I spend lots of time practicing serves. In general there are 3 types of serves:

1. Side spin serves (side underspin, side topspin, reverse side underspin, reverse side topspin)
2. Spin and without spin serve
3. Fast serve

I guess you have problems with the first type of serve. This comes with experience when identifying opponent's serve. Also, you must also know how to consistently create side topspin and side underspin serve then only are able to identify those types of serves come from your opponents. Good players tend to serve with the same motion but they hit the ball at different part of the blade or different part of the serving curve generating different type of serves.

To me it has nothing to do with the blade but identifying the opponent's serves. Also, depending on the rubbers you choose. You return the same serve differently with different rubbers i.e. pimple (long, medium and short pimples). anti-spin and inverted rubbers

I haven't used non tacky rubbers before. All the rubbers I used are tacky. That is why I love YinHe Saturn Pro.

O god thats a lot of terminologies that i dont understand.
pimples? yeah my face have pimples tongue.gif
The problem right now is that we've been experimenting on our own only,no proper teacher to teach us.
What we do is we would go on youtube and see how the pros serve and then try to simulate it back.
Maybe i can join u guys so that i can learn a lot more? notworthy.gif
