Hi guys, wats ur take on Hamilton watches?
How's the built and wats their signature watch?
I saw a couple of their khaki series and it looks pretty good to me smile.gif

Pretty good money for a Swiss watch. Though I don't own one, wouldn't mind getting a Jazzmaster or Khaki chrono, usually can be had for ~3k. Seems to be less popular in MY due to lack of marketing.

Those sold on bodying are grey market if not mistaken. 2k probably means quartz. Do a search on the websites mentioned in 1st post and maybe the bay, there are good deals around quite often.

That is a very handsome watch, I like the blue dial model.

Out of curiosity, what is the price range for a watch with annual calendar complication?

Wow comparing prices that makes the Zenith very 'affordable' indeed. Plus you get the El Primero movement too. Let's see if this gets on our favourite grey dealers sales list.

That's a Mido All Dial Diver, on sale by grey dealer for the same price.

2.8k is fair I guess. I would try to further nego, cos personally would not pay such an amount for a non-chrono Mido.

Btw 1.6k is a lot of money for an Orient, but as long as you're happy smile.gif

I paid less than 1k for my open dial Rally. But on second thought, yours being an Orient Star JDM model (I think), also with a retrograde complication, the price is not bad.

Have always liked the retrograde function (e.g. ML Masterpiece, Longines Master) but just can't justify the spending right now biggrin.gif

4 retrograde functions!

The Longines is USD3750 on prestigetime. Agree that Orient watches take little effort to wind, at least compared to my Seiko Monster. Shaking it for about 10min brings the PR from 0 - 40.

I think 2011 was a big year for me in my interest for watches. I came full round from Swiss to Japanese/German watches and back to Swiss. Also got my first 'high end' watch (at least that's what it is to me). No plans for next year as both my grails have been procured. Guess I will have to consolidate my collection and see what's the next pretty watch to catch my eye.

Happy 2012 to all watch lovers out there!

Have to start saving or go for the base 3 hands + date model lol...
In my opinion (doesn't mean much though), GP's full calendar moon phase has one of the most balanced and pleasing dials.
Thanks for pointers, Patryn33.

I like this model - Evo3 Big Date with moonphase, going for USD5390 at collectorstime. A versatile watch IMO, can be dressed up or down accordingly.

Scratches, dents, nicks, dings are all part of a watch's journey with the wearer. I wouldn't worry so much about it if it's nothing major.

If you must fix it, probably can send it to the Orient service center and have the case polished.

My suggestion, find out price first if money is a factor. If it's not, get the eta version which is also recommended by other forumers.

TGIF. Arguably one of the best sports chronographs out there (according to Chuck Maddox, not me biggrin.gif)

Yeah and I'm desperate to escape the cold dry winter here. Nothing like some tropical air and sunshine biggrin.gif

Btw, looking for an aftermarket strap for the Speedy. Suggestions anyone? Currently considering these Hirsch models:

@deriku,

just a random question. since i noticed you have a seiko monster, and a laco miyota.

just to compare both its movements, the 7S36 and the miyota 821A, in terms of the rotor "smooth-ness", the sweep of the second hand, and accuracy, how far apart do you rate them?

thanks mate.
*
Sorry for the late reply but I guess you've already got the answer from ck77. Same bph, miyota is noisier, Seiko a bit harder to wind. Have not tested both for accuracy.

guys need your help.... gonna make a purchase on the zeppelin 7608-1 but was wondering with that kinda money ( m readi to spend 3k+) shld i settle for something else? mayb a louis erard or a frederique constant , with ETA? is eyeing on the louis 69 257 AA 21 or mayb a frederique Vintage Rally Chronograph Automatic but must save up for it .... help me guys.... by the way the frederique is in house movement?
*
Steinhart is a nice alternative. Or if you want something dressier, can consider this Louis Erard 7750 chrono from a Taiwanese dealer.

FC mostly use ETA if I'm not mistaken. For 3k, not easy to get in house movement (other than the Japanese brands of course). Nomos offers models with their in house movement, starting at around 1k euros. With the Euro currency depreciation, might be worth considering.

Gnomon is the regional dealer for Steinhart, they are located in Singapore. Tissot is widely available, just walk into any reputable shopping mall and you are likely to find a Tissot AD.

Other brands from the 1st page of this thead such as Guinand, Christopher Ward, www.uhr.info etc all offer value for money watches. Downside is there are no local ADs, only purchase through the net.

Nice! I like.  One thing though, those day n date at small dial a bit too shinny n make this less simple.

I was almost wanted to get a omega seamaster of similar design. About 10k. Spent too much of late. Need to control

Which Omega model is similar to the Oris? Can't recall anything similar.
