QUOTE(elainor @ Oct 8 2012, 12:14 PM) hey guys! Im planning to get a panerai somewhere around this end of the year. But im not sure where to get it around kl. Im currently looking for pam 320 or 370. Might want to get some ideas about panerai watch. It started to built on me really well. Thanks! May i suggest joining a couple of the world wide Panerai forums online for a massive pit of information Post pics when you get your watch... but from now till then...do stay open to ideas of basically ANY timepiece that you can acquire in your budget... From a fellow PAM312 owner... This post has been edited by yonggoh: Oct 8 2012, 03:24 PM |

QUOTE(avaultz @ Oct 8 2012, 09:09 PM) hey guys, I think its rare to have the words "oversized" and "dress watch" in the same sentence...seeking for some advise here, im currently searching for a dress watch ovesize 50mm -53mm sizes. Dress watches are generally slimmer cases with small/medium diameters and little complications...some purists insist dress watches to be made from precious metals and paired with a leather strap but I feel such guidelines to be outdated.... But yea, back to size again, unless you have the wrist size of Shaquiel O'Niel anthing over 42mm cannot be considered dressy... Some iconic dress watches are the Jeager LeCoultre Reverso, Patek Calatrava, Piaget Altiplano, A.Lange & Sohne Saxonia, Vacheron Patrimony... P.S Ignore Bill Clinton with his Panerai/Suit combo (WRONG) This post has been edited by yonggoh: Oct 8 2012, 10:19 PM |

http://www.retail-jeweller.com/news/00/24-...&contentID=3379 MeisterSinger’s Perigraph Anthracite took the “up to £2,500” award, beating Bremont’s Solo, Christopher Ward’s C9 Jumping Hour and Edox’s ERC X-Treme Pilot III Limited Edition. In the name of science i have over the past week, been trying to measure the accuracy of my automatic watches over the course of a week.
The base time is provided by my Luminox 5051 BO which utilizes a Quartz movement. The Rolex Daytona is in a separate winder which spins about 850 turns per day in alternating clockwise and anti clockwise motion. Four of the other watches have been placed in the same winder set at 750 turns per day in alternating clockwise and anti clockwise motion. Please note that the results recorded are via my VISUAL comparison (my eyes switching back and forth between the base watch and watch to be measured) hence is no way absolutely accurate recordings The results are as follows: Day 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ___________________________________________________________________________________ 2011 Rolex Daytona 116520 -3 -6 -9 -12 -15 -18 -21 (Avrg: -3.00s per day) 2009 Panerai PAM312 +1 +3 +4 +6 +7 +9 +11 (Avrg: +1.56s per day) 2009 Bell&Ross Phantom +3 +6 +9 +12 +15 +18 +21 (Avrg: +3.00s per day) 2006 Rolex Lady Datejust -4 -7 -11 -16 -19 -22 -26 (Avrg: -3.71s per day) 1998 IWC DerFleiger Chrono -9 -19 -25 -34 -45 -53 -62 (Avrg: -8.86s per day) Conclusions: The Daytona results are within COSC standards. I was anticipating +-1s per day accuracy but alas its not quite what i had hoped for. The Panerai was the surprizing one here with an amazing average of +1.5seconds over the course of a day! The results of the B&R prove that the ETA movement inside is a reliable work horse. The lady datejust of my wife has never been serviced before and still provides decent accuracy. Finally the IWC has not been serviced since the year of purchase in 1998 and it's timing shows that perhaps it can use with some regulating. Just sharing some of my unbiased findings to fellow enthusiasts. Have a good weekend people This post has been edited by yonggoh: Oct 12 2012, 09:38 PM |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Oct 12 2012, 09:41 PM) u should test using atomic clock / sirim time - http://mst.sirim.my/ nice!!! such a simple factor to improve the integrity of the experiment....not all quartz movements are extremely accurate. like the 'swiss' quartz movement in my victorinox runs about 2secs fast per week...i cant imagine the luminox to be any better...even luminox site states accuracy somewhere between -0.5 to +0.7 / day...so at worst -3.5s to +4.9s / week. i will be setting my watches to this website from today onwards and will use it for my next set of trials when my AP arrives in two weeks time... |

Anyone have any experiences with the following methods of regulating an automatic timepiece?
1. To gain a few seconds, lay the watch flat face-up overnight. 2. To lose a few seconds, lay the watch vertically with the crown downwards overnight. 3. To lose a few more seconds, lay the watch vertically with the crown up. ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(xuzen @ Oct 13 2012, 11:11 PM) Hello Yonggoh, that's fantastic!!!Since your are in the topic of accuracy, my seiko sportura kinetic chronograph is deviate 2 sec from USA atomic time even when I did not wear it for 3 days. Not to shabby eh for a USD 500 watch. Xuzen more evidence they are doing good things in the house of Seiko EDIT: oh is it an auto or a quartz movement? QUOTE(Madge @ Oct 19 2012, 06:53 PM) What's the general consensus on LV's Tambour watches? Tried one on the other day, boy do they look good on my wrist, geometries are perfect. The tambours do look nice and i had a chance to play with a friends one once upon a time but to me they are quite expensive from a fashion brand that doesn't specialize in time pieces...though i have read that the movements they deploy are quite solid...dare to take the plunge? |
