Okay, thank you.

The triangular table shows the brands from low to high ends.

Oris is placed under which category?
*
some of the houses are subjective...

For eg Zenith has some models that will fall into the category that is on par with some of omega time pieces...
saying that Omega has pieces way into the 6-digit price tags also...
brows.gif

same can be said with IWC which has RM14k new watches which is comfortably into Omega territory...

ORIS has RM20k watches also i believe...

Not really a watch person here but surprised to see Panerai is so high up in popularity for the Malaysian market.

I'm curious how come?

What's the allure of Panerai for you guys?
*
Tho most of their pieces are horologically insignificant and waaay overpriced for what they are...they just look cool to me smile.gif

Sly is rockin his famous 47mm PAM innit....

Hello bros. Just inherited a Rolex Datejust. It's a 20 year old watch, that needs little bit of maintenance. The insides are slightly rusted (the second ticker) and overall needs a little bit of buffing, inside and out.

Any idea how much damage I'll be looking at? Thanks!

Post photos as it is!!!!
i appreciate them vintage Rollies!

just my opinion, i like the very used look of that piece... to me it shows lots of character... if it were me ill just have a "service and tune up" on the movement and leave the case as it is...

-Budget ~RM12-13k (or SGD 5k)
-Metal Bracelet
-New
-42mm or less
-Mechanical
-Black Dial
-Chronograph not important but wouldn't mind
You have just described an IWC Baby Pilot (new)
Your budget also puts you into the territory of a "Like new" Zenith El Primero (which would be my personal choice)

I hope people who wear Rolex have not lost their sense of humor......

In addition, I did not make my previous remark to offend anyone. I was merely jesting. Ok, I'm not in the same league as Don Rickles..
Please accept my sincerest apologies if I have offended you or any Rolex owners here.

Back to topic.
Can you elaborate further on the mystique on the certain models that you have in mind?
*
Hey buddy non offence taken... i enjoy peoples different perceptions of the Rolex brand...a very love or hate thing as everyone has grown up knowing about Rolex smile.gif New knowledge and differing opinions is exactly they type of thing most ppl are looking for in forums.

When thinking mystique of the Rolex brand the Daytona instantly comes to mind...
Its been documented all over the net... the old zenith movement.... the paul newman connection... the waiting lists and obscene prices... the asian obsession with the black dial versions...

RM 12K -RM 13K is what I would call a yuppie trap. What you get at this range are hyped up ETA movement. Really expensive mass produced factory pieces specifically to trap those yuppies who has lots of free cash to spend. You want something good...

up your ante to RM 20K, now you get into the range of JLC or Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece or Pontos range. This is your entry level to real haute horologie.

If not,

think a little outside the box....

Try Nomos Glashutte (Deutche) or look the Japanese way... Royal Orient.

But do explore the Zenith brand or even the Omega (Speedy Pro) for that sorta money...

Definitely credible pieces IMHO thumbup.gif

Get the Speedy Pro Moonwatch and consider yourself baptized...
rclxms.gif
Attached Image

-Budget ~RM12-13k (or SGD 5k) (CHECK)
-Metal Bracelet (CHECK)
-New (CHECK)
-42mm or less (CHECK)
-Mechanical (Original moon watch is manual wind but you can have it in auto as well)
-Black Dial (CHECK)
-Chronograph not important but wouldn't mind (BONUS)

and you get an in-house movement, not to mention a historically significant piece...

Bare in mind however that the original moonwatch that you can still buy today is manual wind and uses a hesalite (not sapphire) crystal... there is a version that is auto and with sapphire icon_rolleyes.gif

I have also previously spoken against the so called marketing tactics of the James Bonds and Olympics of Omega... but the Speedy Pro Moon watch is a different animal.

Even today's ref. 3570.50.00,visually, stay very true to the original version used for early moon exploration. Its the only Omega I would be proud to wear smile.gif

I do love Zenith El-Primero myself. But @ only RM 12-13K? Srsly?
*
A remember checking out an El Primero earlier this year at Hour Glass (or was it sincere??) at Pavilion
The guy qouted me a sticker price of RM16,000....

I reckon after some discount it can be had for a bit less than that... perhaps not falling into the 13k bracket as our buddy requested, but for a "little bit" more above the budget as well as some searching around, he may make consideration for such a fine time piece smile.gif

was expecting a 7k tagheuer but in the end, my father bought me a second hand PAM 90 (first buyer bought on 2010 31st august) L series  which cost my father rm17.5k. I'm wondering is that PAM worth for that money? or if you were me, you could have just add on rm1.5k more to get a NEW FRESH PAM 104? thanks!

17.5k + 1.5k... for a Valjoux 7750 movement?
