I believe BMW and Mercedes would most likely accept AMEX for booking but not sure for downpayment

Yes for booking but for downpayment they would say they need to charge minimal merchant fees.

In Cycle & Carriage's case, they waived it when I paid for my car's downpayment finally when I insisted I want to pay by card.

If I pay whole downpayment by credit card, then takes a loan means I have 100 percent financing right?

Hire Purchase is limited to 90% (unless of course if your car dealer is able to inflate the price for recond or second hand cars).

If you decide to swipe the whole 10% downpayment with credit card, then to a certain degree, you are getting "100% financing" in the sense that you don't fork out any hard cash.

Used amex plat CC to pay for DP in Ingress 3 years ago , first is booking fee for 10k and another 90k upon collecting the vehicle , have some difficulties when i want to swipe the card for DP but in the end the manager also gave in and let me swipe LOL. Got 200k MR points instantly definitely better than paying cash. Never try before buying a car without loan and pay full with CC so cant really answer this but i know some grey importer accept it.

Nissan can use credit card to pay a portion of the downpayment smile.gif

Added on November 17, 2011, 9:27 pmI'm wondering if swipe MBB 2 AMEX card for RM40,000 downpayment, I would be getting 200,000TP and eventually redeem RM1000 of cash vouchers! tongue.gif

Most Japanese car dealers like Honda and Toyota will tell you they only accept for booking, but you can always negotiate and ask that you allow more to be charged to your card before you sign on the dotted lines. Done that many times over the years.

For cars that are not selling well, car dealers are willing to accept payment in full with credit cards to clear stock.  Last time looking at Honda Elysion and the dealer trying desparately to clear stock and willing to accept payment in full by way of credit card.

I heard can pay all in cash (also depend on what card you using).... I got heard before those boss of big company holding Infinite card to swipe for full payment of car and house. But for house, they needed to go bank and swipe at the bank counter then issue a cheque to clear it off on the spot.

Some car dealers do accept credit card for the booking deposit only. And no. It is not possible to pay for your car in full using credit card. Not in Malaysia anyway.

not to said that they do not accept. just that the transaction fees need to bear by the dealer is quite a huge amount if the car is expensive....

probably 1.4-2.5% for each transaction of the total paid amount charged by merchant provider

Found this this while searching..
Bumping up this thread!

Planning to use my Maybank Petronas VISA (5x TP due to the smiles promotion) to pay a substantial DP at Sime Darby Auto Connexion PJ... from what I read here it seems like most dealers won't accept CC?

Anyone else had any luck with it? Never mind the full amount of the DP, I'd be happy if I can pay at least 10k using the card. tongue.gif

Yes, you can if your car dealer willing to accept payment in full by way of card for the car.

Most Japanese car dealers like Honda and Toyota will tell you they only accept for booking, but you can always negotiate and ask that you allow more to be charged to your card before you sign on the dotted lines. Done that many times over the years.

Auto Bavarian, if not mistaken willing to accept up to RM30K or was it RM40K the last time I asked.

As for Proton, erry, a regular here, mentioned he paid in full with his credit card.

Some car dealers willing to accept payment in full but they will add like 1-2% extra onto the purchase price, and if you are willing to make a fuss and want to fight for your rights, make a call to the card centre in front of the dealer to complain that they want to charge you extra and then see how it goes. That what our AMEX Black card holder reported here when he bought his sports card 2 years back.
