I used to play a lot of team games mostly cause it's fun talking with your friend on Skype while you're playing but nowadays since I've been watching a shitload of GSL replays, I've started playing more and more 1v1s.

I'd have to say, the feeling of accomplishment when you win a 1v1 game is oh so good..

Even Page 1 Custom Map lobbies can take a while to fill. Was waiting 5 minutes to play Night of the Dead. Sometimes I login to NA server when it's early morning coz it's night time there and traffic is much higher. If I recall correctly, SEA population is about 60k players? This would have went down a bit as players move on...until the release of Heart of the Swarm which would bring in returning players and fresh blood.

Look at the latest registered players:

Total: 3,531,141, Americas: 1,310,682, China: 320,021, Europe: 987,340, Korea / Taiwan: 766,125, Southeast Asia: 146,973

We are super low!

At this rate, SEA is as good as a dead server. But then, the reason why I am still in SEA is due to the connection. NA is superior overall, but Msia connection is just not good enough to cope with it, thus delay for Msian.

Yeah, actually the lag problem when playing NA server from Msia is unavoidable because the distance for the data to travel from here to there is very far. 400ms - 500ms. That's about half a second. That's why I think the best way is to combine with China or Korea.. lol

not enough high level tournament with super crazy cash prizes with enough tv or commercial coverage in this SEA area...if not ppl will pickup this game pretty fast thou...and the high prices to purchase this game doesn't help as well...

The thing is very simple, the general idea of gaming isn't being sold as much in the SEA region as it is elsewhere.. Unless bigger tournaments start being organized and events are actually publicized properly instead of being spread through word of mouth, it's very unlikely for potential players to join the game..

Apart from that, the general idea of gaming as a profession isn't accepted by the masses as a valid career choice. Not having enough support from the surrounding could very well be the biggest hindrance for potential StarCraft-ers..
