thanks , btw i read about Chainfire root as well ? any difference from that with the zergrush ?
*
Zergrush exploit perform ROOT only while Chainfire CFRoot will give you root plus auto install Clockworkmod recovery ( CWM)

Some explanation of what is Clockworkmod recovery ( CWM):

What is Recovery and how is it different from ClockworkMod Recovery

You guys should not worry too much about the SMS confirmation ; any claims just bring your receipt will do
But in my experience dealing with service center, not even necessary to show receipt. They just key in phone serial number and warranty expiry date is in their system
I bought an AP set ( SGS ) from lowyat and Spore service center still process FOC for me - need not even show them any proof of purchase ! I sent in my friend Galaxy Tab to Plaza Berjaya - to reflash his bricked Tab and also need not show any receipt as his was SME set and key in serial number was sufficient

Can someone please help to post the storage allocation on Note? How much spaces allocated for the app installation? 1GB or 2GB?

Do you find the ringtone loud enough when you place your phone in the pocket without activate the vibration?

Thanks.
*
Storage space to install apps : 2GB. All supporting data of the apps, eg game data will be install in the other 11 GB partition. the balance 3 GB is reserved for sytem storage/files

I generally find the ringtone volumes is soft - worse than SGS II and similar to the HTC incredible, Sensation

Just rooted my one week old baby, install mobile odin and flash the latest 2.3.6 firmware KKA.. damn smooth and snappy..no complaint..
*
I installed the KKA version but found the modem KK5 slow in locking up 3G and often disconnect while browsing. So I flash back the older XXKJ6 modem which comes with KK1 which is excellent. I used Mobile Odin to flash the modem.bin file. BTW I am using Digi

Some questions guys...hope someone can help

So I just need to flash kj6 on my kk1 firmware via cwm, clear dalvik and cache and install zip from sd card  am I right?

I don't need to wipe the phone right?...just set it up...tOo lazy to re setup

Is root still intact?

Is uncle benny using this kernel?
*
I think you misunderstood my comments. I only flash the MODEM as I found the KK5 modem in the new KKA rom was not soo strong in the 3G. So I just use Mobile Odin to flash only the modem.bin file of KJ6. OR can use PC and flash through Odin by just selecting the modem.bin file as PHONE
Flashing modem will not unroot and will not affect any data on phone

Oops my bad.noted.However I have no idea how to use Odin...never needed to when using htc...can u point me to the right direction?
Read somewhere using Odin can detect flash count...so sorry am a noob on these... icon_question.gif
*
Odin 1.85 is a program used to flash roms on the galaxy series of phones. You can use it to flash a whole packaged rom ( with PDA, PHONE, CSC included ) - these are normally packaged in a single tar format file. Or you can use the program just to specifically flash the phone firmware ( PDA), or baseband modem ( PHONE) or even kernel.
You can download odin 1.85 for Windows at either forum XDA or just google for odin 1.85 - plenty of links on web to download
Chainfire has recently develop his Mobile Odin - just install his apk file and you can now use his mobile app to flash rom, kernel and modem. This is more convenient - no need to have phone attached to PC. You can read more about this tool at :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...=1347899&page=1

And a piece of advise to newbies to flashing, don't worry about the flash counter. The samsung tech can detect that you have root your phone and flash your phone ( to other firmware or kernel ) even physically it shows a zero counter. So trying to hide the flash counter is only making yourself happy - it will not help you at all when you submit in your phone for warranty claims. If the Samnsung tech wish to void your warranty , he can always do it. But it is proven many times at the SGS, SGS II threads the tech seldom bother and close an eye to this rooting/flashing. I have submit in my tablet, phones to claim FOC services with it in rooted and in flash rom state - and each time I have no problem getting FOC services. I even managed to get free FOC service from Spore Service center for a rooted bricked SGS ( AP set bought in KL)

As I suspected, you cannot copy the contents of your memory card to another as the device does not recognise some of the contents of the new card after transfer.  Even if you had moved some of your apps to the memory card, now it does not show in the new card.
Is there any software out there that can mirror copy the memory card?  I am sure some of you will be upgrading soon and you probably wanna know this.
*
Are you talking about external memory card ? I NEVER have such problem as I always copy my stuffs from one card to another and I used these external SD cards interchangeably among all my androids inclusive tablets. Have been practicing this for the past 18 months since I started using Android. Never have any problem the phone/tablet unable to detect the contents. Only exception is some games data ( Gameloft example ) - you need to redownload it
If you have moved apps to external SD card - you need to reinstall the apps and then select to force move to external SD card again

Yes you can use CWM to flash a modem zip file. Make sure it remains as a zip file and not extracted

You can use Zergrush exploit to root but no cwm.
If you need both root n cwm use netchip kernel through Odin but have yellow triangle during bootup

Btw, the keypad vibrate is very annoying. How to disable it? I tried to find in the setting but didn't get any option to disable it. Maybe i have overlooked it. Will try to find again. In the mean while if anyone can share with me here will be great. Thanks.

hi to all galaxy note owner. i have few question here. sorry for my noobness due to i am still using old nokia phone.

1. can galaxy note go to vimeo or youtube website and play in full HD?
would you please try this link and let me know?
http://vimeo.com/31160843

2. does galaxy note provide voice navigation for the GPS? or do we need to install 3rd party apps?
can we view the map in 3D while driving?
*
Video plays perfectly well in fullscreen mode ( your video link) ; youtube definitely is Ok
You need 3rd party apps for voice navigation : sygic aura or papago x5 ( need to tweak it)
Or use brut version of google maps

Hey guys,

Am deciding to sell off my iPad 2 for d Samsung Galaxy Note.

But I have 1 very important detail to clarify beforehand.

Has anyone tried Skype Video Calling on this device?

The odd thing is Skype Video Call never worked when I was using my SGS2,hence why I sold it off.

It said d SGS2 supported Skype Video Calls but it never worked.

So I just want a confirmation from a Samsung Galaxy Note user if Skype Video Calling works?

If one of you can download Skype and maybe we can test the Skype Video Call feature it would be great biggrin.gif

Thanks.

Cheers.
*
Skype video call on SGS II works - you need to download the patched skype apk file ; it was released in jul
Galaxy Note by default when you install skype has video call enabled

I just wondering what is the usage of usb jig?
*
The USB JIG is useful when your phone crashed and you cannot go into download mode with the 3 buttons. With the phone switched off, just plug in the usb jig and phone will boot into download mode and from there you can reflash your rom. In the SGS II, the usb jig will also erase all traces of flashing but not in the Note
