QUOTE(KKW @ Nov 19 2011, 10:58 PM) I planning to root my phone.. Restore all my backup and use market enabler.. You cannot unroot it using the usb jigThen use usb jib to unroot it. is that possible? I suggest you use zergrush exploit to root and use it back to unroot - is the easiest method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360 |

QUOTE(emeryn @ Nov 19 2011, 10:56 PM) Hi, I'm thinking of getting SGN. There's a few word which I dun quite get it. 1. V3 refers to version 3 of this thread1. What's the V3 means on the title of this post? 2. SEP is some samsung authorized seller/dealer? 3. What's NFC? 4. I saw on the earlier post that a few mention the white will be out before Christmas. Is this confirmed? 5. I'm using maxis but they dun offer this. Am thinking to get this from Samsung authorized dealer at RM2299 or the Celcom contract at about 1.8k. But I saw someone commented if get from telco it's only a year warranty? I didn't manage to check with Celcom today coz the branch at 1U is currently closed. So, izzit better to get from telco or buy from Samsung? Sorry yeah i'm pretty noob on phone stuff and I've been a user of iPhone all these while and i seldom read updates bout phone stuff. So a lot of term also not sure. Thanks a lot in advance =D 2. SEP is Samsung Elite Partners , a status accorded to them having hit Samsung's sales targets 3. NFC : Near field communication ; refer this website - very simple explanation what it can do but not available in Msian sets of the Note http://www.addictivetips.com/hardware/what...l-applications/ 4. No idea - all these just rumors 5. Telco is standard 1 year warranty ; from SEP is 2 years. Where to buy depends on whether you need to use the amount of data offered by telco - if so than is worth to get from telco but tied to a year or 2 years contract |

QUOTE(emeryn @ Nov 19 2011, 11:07 PM) oh yeah. wanted to ask bout GPS too. what do u guys use for GPS? I'm pretty used to Papago in iPhone. Any similiar free apps like Papago in Android? I would want those that have voice navigation n shows the exact junction to take when it comes to split road. No free GPS apps - I use Sygic Aura - now it costs Euro 19.99 or you can try Papago X5 ( but need to tweaks it ) - is selling for RM 99 |

Been on SHEEP rom based on KKA ( 2.3.6) for past one day
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352945 I installed the rom using the CWM app from Chainfire All data intact , no wipe at all Very happy with it - no major issues encountered Slicker and smoother than stock rom Noted that it now comes with his modded kernel and baseband KK5. KK5 seems working better versus the KK5 modem on my previous KK1 ( HK rom) and KKA ( aut) If you need Chainfire CWM app - you need to reinstall it separately. Other than the absence of the CWM app, boot to recovery will give you Chainfire CWM Features of his rom: The Sheep ROM is a custom ROM for the GT-N7000 based on Samsung Stock ROMs with the following features: Deodexed Zip-Aligned Pre-Rooted All apps and feature from Samsung are kept. FM Kernel integrated. The Kernel has CWM 5 and is compatibel to CF Root Kernel (Details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1342807) build.prop Tweaks (smoother, better memory management) System Tweaks (better IO performance) All OXX and OXA product codes integrated. 64 at the moment Bat in % CRT Off Fully Connect Icons CWM flashable I just noted too there is also another released version of XXKKA. Look it up at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353692 This post has been edited by benny888: Nov 20 2011, 10:46 AM |

QUOTE(fit @ Nov 20 2011, 11:28 AM) Hi Benny, downloaded the sheep rom now..going to flash as well.. No I did not flash KKI CF kernel as I see no need for it . I always prefer to use the 3 buttons and it will boot into Chainfire CWM recovery. I also can use an app QUICKBOOT and boot into recovery mode toodo u mean modem in this rom better than the original KK5 modem from KKA firmware ? Did you flash KK1 CF root kernel to gain back CWM? Added on November 20, 2011, 11:32 am QUOTE(nas @ Nov 20 2011, 11:28 AM) As I used the CWM app to flash, I did not do these steps. But it is a good step to take if you flash your rom zip manually through recovery modeThis post has been edited by benny888: Nov 20 2011, 11:32 AM |

QUOTE(jjamain @ Nov 20 2011, 11:41 AM) base on XDA forum comment.. KKA drain their battery faster than KK1..and most of them flash back to KK1. I don't see any difference in battery usage on the stock official and all the other roms ( HK rom XXKK1, KKA ( AUT) and present Sheep rom based on KKA) have tested. Anyway i am very happy with the battery life on the NOTE - it is so much better than my previous SGS II. How about yours? Battery usage I feel is a personal assessment ; no point to compare one usage to others as everyone uses his phone differently. As long as it gets me through 10-12 hours without charge , I am very happy. Nowadays when I go out , I never bring along the external charger or spare batteries , which is a necessity with the SGS II |

QUOTE(Teng80 @ Nov 20 2011, 12:01 PM) Anyone installed the game "Splinter Cell Conviction"? Your phone needs to be rooted to use Chainfire 3DI installed and can play, but the graphic got problem. The building, wall or road surrounding only appear over exposed white colour, cannot see. Do I need to set anything or it doesn't support? For Chainfire 3D, do I require root for using it? Thanks. |

QUOTE(ape @ Nov 20 2011, 08:09 PM) Ya, I hv downloaded d kernel file and replace d zimage folder. But when I executing d "already-rooted.bat" file, my pc give me "this is not compactible x32 file system" message. Why don't you post this at the XDA thread and perhaps Chainfire can advise you Or you can try to use the "not rooted.bat" - it will overwrite your root - process will take slightly longer up to 5 mins to complete Added on November 20, 2011, 9:42 pm QUOTE(neekun @ Nov 20 2011, 09:27 PM) I did that and it worked for setting custom ring for specific person. Try first copy MP3 into internal SDcard : mnt/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones ( create the ringtones folder if not there)But if I want to use a custom mp3 as default ringtone, i am not able to browse for the mp3 cause only those built-in tones are shown. Workaround is in music player, select the mp3 from music folder and set as ringtone. After this the mp3 magically appeared in the list together with built-in tones. Question is do i have to do this each time I want to use a new mp3 as default ringtone? Guaranteed method will work: If your phone is rooted you can just copy your MP3 into /system/media/audio/ringtones. You can use Root Explorer to do this . Reset phone and your MP3 will be detected This post has been edited by benny888: Nov 20 2011, 09:42 PM |

QUOTE(synchun @ Nov 21 2011, 01:22 AM) I downloaded the ROM from your site http://leemn.wordpress.com/2011/11/13/root...ng-galaxy-note/ and the file extension is .zip . How do I change it to .tar? Why are you referring to my blog ? That is meant to flash the rom using CWM NOT Odin as the rom is packaged as a zip fileYou need to download your firmware , say from sammobile.com and extract the firmware to tar format Or you can download it from XDA - see the link given to you earlier by waveweaver This post has been edited by benny888: Nov 21 2011, 01:51 AM |
