*
Then yr gonna be very unlucky next year. I heard there will be another rounds of lay-offs across sectors in SG next year. Anyone can confirm this from any other sectors?

Banking is the first to be affected (as usual), BNP, CA, HSBC and RBS are have already confirmed to have let-go anywhere between 60-200 staff across the departments....

If ICA approve all the PR application without rejection, i think SG have a lot of Pinoy PR, Indian PR and PRC PR...

ummm...if you look around, isn't it already so...?

So if they are willing to pay SGD 4700 and I am currently earning RM6600 it's not really worth coming is it?
*
Wow! Hell no! Nobody takes a 40% pay cut to join a new company in a new country despite all the bullshit they try to tell you.... 20% is the Max, max anyone would consider....

Besides, in terms of std of living, i guess RM6.6k is very decent in M'sia and there is no way you can get the same std of living with just S$4.7k in SG.
Finally don't spoil the market!!!! Enough have been said about this! You have a skill (which they presumably need, otherwise they wouln't even bother to offer you a job at all) and they need that skill...its a fair business transaction and you do not owe them squat! Stand yr ground and ask for the same i.e. S$1=MYR1.

The moment you accept, is the moment they will use that as a yardstick or a benchmark and all future foreign employees with similar background as your will be offered similar package.....it's a lose-lose situation for all....

QUOTE(MPIK @ Dec 20 2011, 01:16 PM)
I already said if he/she is still single, then it is ok.

Who the hell on this earth wants to rent a 4 room hdb if an individual is a single? Unless he wanna fap every night in every different room.

If single, you can anytime rent a 2-3 room hdb for $1.5K to $1.8K, food wise definitely cheaper than KL.

Having said that, even if he is married, I believe both the husband and wife will be working too.

And you stated that 3 bedroom condo in KL for RM2.5K per mth installment? I can say no way... unless he wanna stay in Rawang, Kajang or Setapak area.

My cousin bought a 3 room Condo in KL last year already paying RM4.5K a month installment. Nowadays properties in KL is already in the range of RM600K to RM700K, even Cyberjaya is catching up at RM500K for a condo. If landed property, be prepare to fork out RM800K to RM1,000K.

If both of them married and have kids, then I agreed... better stay back in KL as education, medical, insurance and own car costs a lot more than KL.
*
If you compare single in M'sia and single in SG on MYR6.6k and SGD4.7k still M'sia MYR 6.6k is better lar
You have to compare apple to apple. How can you compare rent in SG vs buy property installment in M'sia?

Just think about it, if you are single whether in KL or SG, assuming all else is pari-passu, you will probably rent a room
Room in KL/PJ=RM 400-RM600 big room (including utilities), room in HDB near City = min S$ 600p.m. (including utilities)...so which one is better? again you have to think apple to apple. You cannot compare rental in Woodlands vs KL city. You have to compare Singapore City to KL City (since i think most likely people will work in the city).....

Although cost of living in M'sia is high, RM 6.6k is alot. Comparitively cost of SG, while lower than M'sia, is not that low either. Definately not low enought for S$4.7k to afford the same livestyle compared to MYR6.6k in Malaysia, both in terms of saving or expenses....

Most do. All of the ones I know do. Not Singapore's problem that your social and professional circle seems to consist entirely of the underbelly of this country. Might reflect an issue with you? Birds of a feather flock together and all that.

you told me you are pursuing PMP.

may I ask you:

From an accountant to Project manager/Business Development manager.

From a big company to a France start up company with a 20% pay rise.

is it good or not for the future?

It seems interesting since the job scope will different and of course the new challenge
*
France start up company???
You do know that Frace is having economic problems right???
And a start-up???? Statistically most start-ups fail in the first 5 years....let alone with the looming economic crisis and all

I'm actually quite pro-NS for kids,.. especially for ethnic-Chinese kids in this region. There is absolutely no harm in more Chinese kids learning how to shoot and kill non-Chinese kids. They will need to do it, sooner or later... or else all sorts of May13 and May,1998 will occur and they will be told it's their fault for not following the "social contract".
*
SG population is 75% chinese race...unlike M'sia, the chinese race here are the majority. No need to shoot or kill non chinese. And knowing SG and their law abiding citizens, May 13 will never happen....its not good for business.....unlike M'sia....

I used to have PBB in Bursa, OCBC in SG and HSBC in HKSE. But since Lehman Bros, bank stocks are no longer considered defensive. Now I've only got HSC left as a China play, but still in the red.

I've moved on to mainly telcos and SPH as defensive plays. In Malaysia, Digi and Maxis... plus my long time (since I started investing my ang pow money as a teen) the evergreen piew tou yum chui (sex gamble drink smoke) like Guinness, Carlberg, BToto, BAT, Genting etc. I also like the Wawasan 2020 bonds... steady 6-7%.
*
I won't put my money in banking stocks too...just too risky (even though i work in a bank)....because almost every bank leverage to the hilt, meaning they also borrow money to lend people money....when the money market gets tight and liquidity is dry (and people start to withdraw their deposits/savings en mass aka bank run), most bank will instantly die irregardless of how strong their past record or profitability is....cash is still king....

I prefer retail bonds like the recently launched CapitaMalls retail bonds and other top tier corporate bonds like hyflux etc...steady yeilding 4-5% p.a. yield...

It's still liability if you rent it out to people and yet still causing negative cash flow due to larger amount of monthly installment.
*
Where do you people get all this sh1t from?
How could you NOT have done your calculations and invest in a negative cashflow property? Classic case of people buy, i buy kinda herd mentality?

He means monthly installment = $5,000 but could only fetch rental of only $4,000, so negative cashflow of $1,000
*
Which is why i replied who is god green earth would be stupid enough to go buy a house/condo that kinda negative cashflow without doing research/calculations

i'm sure you have less chance got molested in SG MRT if compare to KL LRT...
*
WRONG! You will get molested more than in KL....the mrt are packed like sardines everyday (peak hour 8.00 - 9.00 am and 6.00 - 8.00 p.m.). Anyway you wouldn't know even if people molest you cos like i say everyone is shoving and moving around and will most definately brush against you whether accidentally or purposely.....
