Nothing to shout about, it's called AWS(Annual wage supplement) for a reason, not 13th month bonus or other BS bonus.
Also the same thing with annual increment. Generally people would take it as if it's really an increment. Bear in mind if the % is lower or the same as inflation rate, it is nothing more than a salary adjustment, for the sake of maintaining the same level of comfort/lifestyle.

Anyway, something interesting about the blog:
Anyone of you here get any pro-rated AWS when you leave a company before 31st Dec?
Most of the employment contract states that one must work until the last day of the year in order to be entitled of full amount AWS.

(CNN) -- New Zealand is perceived as the least corrupt nation on earth, and Somalia and North Korea are seen as the most corrupt, a German watchdog organization said in a report released this week.
The United States ranked 24th least corrupt on a "corruption perceptions index," the fourth-highest in the Western Hemisphere. Canada ranked 10th, the Bahamas is 21st and Chile is 22nd.
Overall, the top spots are occupied mostly by European countries, with the exception of New Zealand, Singapore at No. 5 and Australia, which is tied for eighth with Switzerland. Other nations with top rankings are Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands.
In addition to Somalia and North Korea, which are tied for last at No. 182, the bottom of the list includes Myanmar, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Sudan, Iraq, Haiti and Venezuela.

Does corruption include the collusion and nepotism? If it is included I wonder how sg will be ranked?

I rather have TPL in MY parliment than a person who keep talking BS and try to be a hero.

Added on December 5, 2011, 11:11 amUnlike Malaysia where gov servant will get pension pay out when their retired, many SG public servant do not have pension at all (except minister and the like). So the 13-month bonus(or Non-Pensionable Annual Allowance (NPAA) ) is their compensation for pension, usualy at its maximum of 1 month but it can be zero during real bad economy.
*
I also want people in MY government to have 30k/month so they don't need to corrupt and don't need the pensions

How to be in the top 10%  thumbup.gif

The top 10 per cent of high fliers, the bottom 10 per cent of 'limited contributors', and the remaining 80 per cent of solid citizens.

If you think you belong to the top 10 per cent - well, you don't.

You will know when you are there - you don't have to think.

How?

The quantum of your bonuses, consistently for the past three years could be one factor, and oh, yes, the frequency of your engagement with the decision makers, and how often your views are sought.

If you are in the bottom 10 per cent, maybe you should be asking yourself, 'Why am I here? And what do I want to do about it?'

The signs: similar to the above but on the opposite end of the spectrum.

Decision makers typically decide who they promote based on three key factors.

Past performance, future potential and the ability to get along well with others. nod.gif
*
Then many people will become top 10%, however I saw lots of average joe are well with others.
I saw in my manager, they have the same common thing, Straight to the point and have the sense of arrogance!
They are the most difficult people to deal with

Just look at the graph, It falls a few time. I had waited and bought mine in one of the low period.

If one day when RM1 = SGD2. Do you think people will buy over priced SG properties even it has limited land? IMO, why people keep buying property here is due to the confident on SG economy, it have not fail before don't means it will never fail.

For sure you Will see price increase in the long run for All item from coffee, bas fare to housing. Don't need to PhD researh or graph to tell you, common sense will do. Reasons, let the PhD student think lah. I don't think he know the answer yet.

But, the fact that SG has limited land and the gov have great control over the market means the price can manipulated.

IF A MAN FINDS YOU ATTRACTIVE YOU CANNOT BE FRIENDS

Many women want to argue this point and say things like " I have lots of guy friends." Maybe. There are exactly 3 cases Intellectual Whores has identified whereby a guy and a girl can be friends:

1. The guy is gay
2. The guy does not find you attractive
3. The guy already has a woman much higher than you on the ladder

Truly a scholar.

A self-proclaimed bachelor's, CPA, CA and now pursuing a masters in a field where you seem to be studying the very foundations of international socio-political-economic dynamics. On top of that, your opinion is that only your opinion represents public perception, all employers and entire countries. Don't worry about the PhD. An honourary one is on the way.

Some think I am trolling here. Well you can always ignore my post and report to the administrator.

Other forumers have contributed some input and it helps me. Thank you very much.

I have some points on the property prices, now lets focus on prices of cars especially on the COE issue.

In this south east region, Thailand has the lowest car prices. In Malaysia, the car prices are very high whether local or imported. From the points I have gathered from other sources, it's because of the AP issue that push up all the car prices in Malaysia. AP is a so called 'behind door' method used by the BN cronies to rob money 'legally' from the car buyers. All these cronies become so rich at the expense of the rakyat. All in the name of corruption.

Singapore is the least corrupted country in this SE region but the car prices are higher than Malaysia partly blame on the COE imposed by the Singapore government in 1990. Under the COE, new cars are allowed to be on the road for 10 - 15years. After this time frame, the cars have to be taken off the road. Without COE, the prices are still expensive at par with Malaysian cars (don't take into consideration of exchange rate, dollar to dollar...ringgit to ringgit).

Take example Honda Accord 2.4 litre:
In Malaysia retail price is RM168k.
In Spore, price inclusive of COE is SGD186k. If no COE, price is SGD166k.

Any comments on the above? Is COE necessary? Is COE a burden to the people?
With no COE, the prices still the same level with Malaysian cars. Why is it so since Spore is the least corrupted country (by comparing with car prices in Thailand).

I agree with sg gov, what will happen if car is cheap in sg. do u want sg be polluted and got traffic jam liao??

ok, since u requested, u guys can have this as reference...

rental =RM300-RM450 (near causeway u can get a room, further apart u can rent a whole flat with RM300)
food = RM600 (RM4.50 on average per meal, no drink since my budget for SG meal did not include drinks as well. 1 day RM20 can settle.)
phone = RM30 + $30 (since u will need a Malaysia number and a SG number)
VEP = $100 (assume that u ride bike and use Causeway)
Petrol = RM100 per month (including going out leisure with friends etc etc)
groceries = RM200 (more than enough)

Total = RM1400 + $100. so its around $650 SGD per month.

PS : u guys sure wonder, I no nid eat in SG? the answer is u can tapao mix rice from Taman Pelangi in the morning. those shops are very professional that they help u separate the dishes and the rice, a lot of ppl is doing that.
mind telling what degree are u holding? why request such a low pay? I am not a degree/diploma holder also can request for higher pay d.
on average, lets say peak hours. if i start work 9am, i must reach the causeway at 8am. so if u stay near by the causeway, leave ur house at 7:50am to be safe, i normally leave my house at 7:30am coz i stay around 18KM away from the causeway.

going back is the same thing, if u leave ur office at 6pm, u will reach home around 7pm. so only 1 hour travel. compare to those staying in SG, u only spend additional 20mins per trip. so i think its worth it. not to mention if u stay in JB, u can have ur own transport don't have to reply on public transport. no matter how efficient is the public transport in SG, it still cannot beat those owning their own transport.

for eg, travel from woodlands to orchard by MRT, it takes 45-50mins. if u ride a bike, 25 mins can reach. u save 25 mins from there.

my office is near Yio Chu Kang, previously i stay in Sembawang (3 MRT stops away), if i start work at 9am, i need to leave my house at 8:15am. it takes me around 45 mins to get to office, but if i am riding a bike, i just need 15 mins (maximum if i so suey all traffic lights are red). so if u let me choose again, i still choose to stay in JB. but of course people will say ride bike danger la, this la that la. its all up to that individual.
*
How long to learn how to bike??
I wanna try motorbike 125cc one..
I got one motorbike but never used since haven't ride a bike before.

You can save alot since its indon. Just eat tempe since its a cost effective form of food.

COnsider the tax there is quite high..
For food, I think in Singapore is also not high. S$10/day. In Indo it will be S$5/day with a decent food.
If you are offered S$4k/month in Sg and RM9k in Indon, which one will you choose?

Cost of living in Sg might be 1k so left $3k, cost of living in Indon will be RM1k so left with RM7k(after tax).

sorry, if I quoted the wrong person.
Will you eat restaurant food every day when you are in singapore? compare apple to apple la if you eat at food court better compare with makanan jalanan.
However, you said you choose the country where you and your family will feel secure.
But why do you leave your family in Malaysia? Which one is better, live with family in malaysia or live alone in Singapore?
