I have my Mom's phone with me now to play around.
She just bought it yesterday.
That shop really tried to rip us off on many levels.
1st the AVG Anti-Virus.
He also told my Mom that GNote costs RM2500 cos my Mom was actually more interested in that but thank God thought that the price difference was too much so just went with S2.
I just found out that the price of Note is actually just RM2300.

-How do I check the current version and how do I upgrade it?
Or is the shop provide with the most up to date version already?

-The camera quality is quite disappointing or am I supposed to fiddle around with the settings first? It is grainy.

-In the first post I didn't see any list of Anti-Virus'. Could anyone recommend a free AV? Or is it better to just purchase the AVG? Problem is that both me and my Mom don't have a Credit Card. Have to ask my Dad for one.

-Anything else I should update or install that is really useful in order to make it a better phone? A USD1-5 dollar shouldn't be a problem as long as it's really useful and important. My Mom's not gonna jailbreak/root the phone btw.

He also told us that the Note costs RM2500!!
Pity my Mom cause she prefers Note cause of the bigger screen, a big screen is more suitable for her cause her eyes ain't that good anymore.
She found the RM600 too much so went with the Galaxy S2 instead.

Me! I applied "Invisible" shield by not applying anything at all (SP/Case). It look awesome. The only downside for me is the slippery grip during certain gripping method and the camera part will rub against surface (table, etc).

grainy? in what condition did you take the pic? never took a pic that come out grainy before.

anti-virus I don't use, so can't really recommend any.

Your SGS2 G or non G version. Type *#1234# too see the current rom, radio and CSC version or as what shizuru wrote.

I can tell you majority of the users on android in the world don't use antivirus including myself. This is not windows PC. Since you are not rooting the phone and like i said before your mum is not installing pirated apps there is really no need to get an antivirus app.

On any other app to recommend it will depend on what your using the phone for.

Antivirus will only drain battery and make your phone slower, and wasted memory too. i dont use any. and since its your mum, its not gonna be dangerous at all. unless your mum is a hacker.

grainy picture? you take pictures in low light condition? if yes, well thats normal. if not, i dont know. on low light, i turn on flash to make it non grainy. if not, yes it will look grainy. on the standard light, the pictures are beautiful!

What is your current rom version? Can the PC detect your device in the first place?

Added on November 21, 2011, 7:37 pmOh look Documents to Go is free on Amazon today. Those that have not tried it should get it. For me its the best office app on android. Remember Amazon is only giving the unlock key. You still need to install the main app.

how do you guys actually get the Amazon app working? I followed the guide on first page but it says 'The Amazon Appstore is not yet available in your region.' whenever I try to download an app.

i just download document to go full version from amazon appstore

finally get it working setting up 1-Click Setting through PC has failed for me... weird but I managed to get through it by setting it up through phone

If you don't have credit card to buy apps., go apply debit card from Maybank. It's much easier and without disturbing your father.

I dont mind paying for apps. It just that if using credit card means i had to pay the apps since the credit card is mine. But by using debit card, my little sister can pay the apps by herself.
There's no need to look around for crack apps. o_O
