For comparison purposes, they should just put the normal OTR prices just like other car manufacturers. Normally ive seen only cars which are seemingly 'overpriced' will not have the insurance included to exude a 'cheaper' initial image. Nobody will take into account windscreen coverage to compare car prices. Just compare using the general items e.g number plates, road tax, registration and insurance. Been done many times in the past and no reason not to be done now.

The pricing without insurance is readily available. There wasnt any issue there. What i was asking for was the cost of insurance. The car prices were already on Page 1 so no reason to repeat that.

And i dont need to write to anybody as well. VW had a separate listing of all insurance prices for each model during their roadshow at Tropicana City Mall. So if they can have separate listings why not put it up for anybody to see? The only reason for this is to show that their cars arent that expensive at first glance. Just to alleviate confusion; no, the Golf R is not out yet. You won't be seeing any at your local VW showroom. The one I'll be reviewing (if I get it) will be a grey market unit.

Thanks but I dont really need rough estimates. If i did, i would have calculated it myself. All i was asking is what's the normal (full) insurance premium for each of the models advertised and commented that it should have been displayed along with the OTR prices.

Car insurance and road tax are two different thing.

Car insurance do ownself = rebate 10%

Road tax do ownself = nothing saved, except runner fees.

I'm not sure, never try MyEG online before. Do they charge some fees to courier/deliver the road-tax to you ?

I went to Das Auto today and was informed that Passat, Jetta and Polo will no longer a CBU unit starting from 2012 as DRB-Hicom has already started assembling these 3 units. It will be known as SKD (not CKD). Can anyone here verify? Also, the price for above cars will also drop by RM10K +-. Anyone here has any clue?

yup,got it yesterday evening,but sent back this morning to rectify some 'problems'...kinda dissapointed though with d quality of a new car....1st of all they forgot to install d map as mine is a rns510...2nd is d sound n feel coming from d front absorbers,i suspect its not tighten up correctly or firmly enough, 3rd is d cover for aircond n cd player is loose,might b a clip within broken...haiz...what can i say bout my new ride? guess hafta wait til tonite or tomorrow to test it again...

Ello, been following this thread for quite some time now.

Initially I wanted to get a 1.4 Roc by pushing my budget to the limit but when I went to the showroom yesterday and tested out the golf 1.4 I was equally surprised by the acceleration thrill though the exterior seems a tad normal.

The SA advice me to go for Golf and with the extra budget to do some modification instead, so here are my questions hope some Golf TSI sifu's can advice.

1) Current package I got was 3 free service, 8K + 5K overtrade, go for it or wait for next batch 2012?
2) Any rumors for the new batch of 2012 golf's? (Sunroof, push start etc)
3) Front bumper not so nice, is there anyone modded their Golf TSI to other BK?
4) 16" Atlanta rims require to change, what is the recommended 17" Inch rims? I heard most people get the denver and polished to detroits, how do they actually do that?
5) I heard stage 1 upgrade by ABT is more expensive because it includes insurance but other upgrades from APR etc is cheaper, so what are the risks and recommended stage 1 upgrade?

Too many questions, too little to answer, hope the Golf 1.4 Sifu modders can provide some info here.

For the BK, I'll be sure to check Exotic Mods because plainly I don't like the stock golf looking bumpers and no spoilers look dull at the back unlike the GTI.

Reason for not going 18' is not because of the cost but because of the comfortability, profile 40 is a bit hard on the road, I feel that 17' is just nice.

Do you have friends going for stage 1 via ABT because of the warranty? New cars comes with 5 yrs warranty, its kinda sad to wait after 5 years for a stage 1 upgrade nor doing it voids the warranty which is also not very good. Is Volkswagen Malaysia very particular in monitoring of cars especially during service? Don't want them to check that its been modded to stage 1 during service time *gulp*

Going for that Audi S5 rims you been aiming for quite some time?
