For comparison purposes, they should just put the normal OTR prices just like other car manufacturers. Normally ive seen only cars which are seemingly 'overpriced' will not have the insurance included to exude a 'cheaper' initial image. Nobody will take into account windscreen coverage to compare car prices. Just compare using the general items e.g number plates, road tax, registration and insurance. Been done many times in the past and no reason not to be done now.
*
Prices provided in the VW website includes OTR prices excluding insurance:

Includes the following items:
Road Tax (one year)
Registration Fee
Inspection and Handling Fees
Number Plate
HP Ownership Endorsement Fee

If you want a breakdown of each individual fee per model, I suggest you go to the VW website to find out more.

OTR prices for models here in Malaysia.

Golf 1.4 TSI: RM156,608.00
Golf GTI: RM211,060.00
Polo Sports: RM114,593.00
Polo GTI (3-door): RM133,608.00
Polo GTI (5-door): RM136,608.00
Scirocco 1.4 TSI: RM189,608.00
Scirocco GT: RM245,060.00
Passat CC Comfortline: RM256,060.00
Passat CC Sport: RM271,060.00
Passat: RM185,967.20
EOS: RM259,060.00
Tiguan: RM238,121.60
Touareg: RM 432,283.20
Jetta: RM150,608.00
Cross Touran: RM167,608.00

Again, I would highlight the point in regards to insurance, your premium is different from others based on your age, what you want covered and also what other add-ons you want and which insurance company you sign up with. If you sign up with Chartis, there is an extra 15% loaded cost on top of any new insurance registered recently.

To create a level playing field for comparisons, the insurance needs to be included. Till now nothing mentioned about the OTR price with insurance.

Why don't you write a nice letter to Volkswagen Group Malaysia so that they will release that as well? I am sure they will appreciate the comment especially coming from a consumer.

The pricing without insurance is readily available. There wasnt any issue there. What i was asking for was the cost of insurance. The car prices were already on Page 1 so no reason to repeat that.

And i dont need to write to anybody as well. VW had a separate listing of all insurance prices for each model during their roadshow at Tropicana City Mall. So if they can have separate listings why not put it up for anybody to see? The only reason for this is to show that their cars arent that expensive at first glance. This is called 'misleading the consumer'.
*
Also to add on, any consumer who makes a purchase based on first glances have no one to blame but themselves if they get misled.

Just to alleviate confusion; no, the Golf R is not out yet. You won't be seeing any at your local VW showroom. The one I'll be reviewing (if I get it) will be a grey market unit.
*
You getting the silver one that has been parked in Bangsar for a while already wink.gif

Also there is a couple of Scirocco R out there as well

Thanks but I dont really need rough estimates. If i did, i would have calculated it myself. All i was asking is what's the normal (full) insurance premium for each of the models advertised and commented that it should have been displayed along with the OTR prices.
*
Full insurance premium for a car insured at the sum for the Golf 1.4 TSI at RM150,000 (this value can be determined by you if you want to pay a lower premium) is RM4852 with Chartis. This included a RM550 premium to insure the windscreen at RM3600. This is the normal sum for an individual under 30 years of age. Above 30 years, there is a loaded premium of around 15% but you can negotiate with the insurance underwriter to get it waved.

Car insurance and road tax are two different thing.

Car insurance do ownself = rebate 10%

Road tax do ownself = nothing saved, except runner fees.

I'm not sure, never try MyEG online before. Do they charge some fees to courier/deliver the road-tax to you ?
*
I just renewed my road tax with MyEG but I opted to collect the road tax from their office at 1 Utama (First Avenue). If delivery I think there is an extra charge of RM2 or RM3.

Dear all sifus,

I went to Das Auto today and was informed that Passat, Jetta and Polo will no longer a CBU unit starting from 2012 as DRB-Hicom has already started assembling these 3 units. It will be known as SKD (not CKD). Can anyone here verify? Also, the price for above cars will also drop by RM10K +-. Anyone here has any clue?
*
Should be true, the Vento launch (Polo Sedan) is also just around the corner and it will be coming from the DRB-Hicom plant. So yeah, high chance the units will be rolling out from there.

yeah, kinda sorry for myself too...lol...i got my tig from ampang wearnes...was planning to flush all d engine oil out for a brand new tank, they quoted me rm600,worth to do it? im thinking a new tank of engine oil for a new engine after 1000km run in would make my ride last longer...any sense in that? my next move is go for paint coating for d rubber black trim around my tig to make it all white then might go for sierra glow...after that changing to new rims...anyone interested in 18" pcd 5x112mm 35offset?? ori from VW..
*
RM600 is rather pricey. If I am not mistaken it should require around 5L of oil. You can get it done cheaper outside at Wyn's Care Care in USJ or Exquisite Marques in Sunway Damansara.

Best to place the rims for sale in the Volkswagen Club (check my signature below). I am sure you might find more potential buyers there because of the PCD112 setting. 35 offset is a little too much for most golfs but you might find Scirocco owners who don't mind those offset.

By the way, I think I saw your Tiguan here at Sungai Besi Service Center this morning. The Sales agent drove it here probably from Ampang. Is your's a white Tiguan?

QUOTE(Kerry1136 @ Nov 30 2011, 02:47 PM)
Ello, been following this thread for quite some time now.

Initially I wanted to get a 1.4 Roc by pushing my budget to the limit but when I went to the showroom yesterday and tested out the golf 1.4 I was equally surprised by the acceleration thrill though the exterior seems a tad normal.

The SA advice me to go for Golf and with the extra budget to do some modification instead, so here are my questions hope some Golf TSI sifu's can advice.

1) Current package I got was 3 free service, 8K + 5K overtrade, go for it or wait for next batch 2012?
2) Any rumors for the new batch of 2012 golf's? (Sunroof, push start etc)
3) Front bumper not so nice, is there anyone modded their Golf TSI to other BK?
4) 16" Atlanta rims require to change, what is the recommended 17" Inch rims? I heard most people get the denver and polished to detroits, how do they actually do that?
5) I heard stage 1 upgrade by ABT is more expensive because it includes insurance but other upgrades from APR etc is cheaper, so what are the risks and recommended stage 1 upgrade?

Too many questions, too little to answer, hope the Golf 1.4 Sifu modders can provide some info here.
*
1) Why not wait for a month and see if you can snag a pre-registered 2011 car. You might get better discounts.
2) No idea on the next batch, they always keep it a very tight secret
3) Yes, there are plenty of bodykits about, Caractere, ABT, Rieger, Golf R, Golf GTI. Go search for "Exotic Mods" in Facebook and you can find plenty of photos there of the Golf's they have done. Gives you a good idea of how it looks in real life
4) Some recommend 17" rims, some go straight for 18" rims depending on their budget. You can send your Denvers to several shops to get it polished to look like Detroits.
5) Risks for a Stage 1 remap would be the loss of warranty or basically the service center wants to deny you a warranty claim. ABT's warranty is covered by them and not by Volkswagen Group Malaysia.

Last but not least, if performance is what you want and handling, I would still recommend that you go for the Roc 1.4

Btw, just to give you some perspective, I am also driving a Golf 1.4 with a GTI bodykit, Stage 1 APR remap, 17" Denvers polished to Detroits (want to sell them soon to upgrade to 18")

Hi Mavik,

Thanks for the quick reply.

For the BK, I'll be sure to check Exotic Mods because plainly I don't like the stock golf looking bumpers and no spoilers look dull at the back unlike the GTI.

Reason for not going 18' is not because of the cost but because of the comfortability, profile 40 is a bit hard on the road, I feel that 17' is just nice.

Do you have friends going for stage 1 via ABT because of the warranty? New cars comes with 5 yrs warranty, its kinda sad to wait after 5 years for a stage 1 upgrade nor doing it voids the warranty which is also not very good. Is Volkswagen Malaysia very particular in monitoring of cars especially during service? Don't want them to check that its been modded to stage 1 during service time *gulp*
*
I have a friend who gotten the ABT stage 1 straight from FA Wagen meaning he paid RM262k for his Golf GTI with the full ABT kit. Thats the only guy I know. If you didn't get your car from FA Wagen, they will need to assess your engine first before providing the length of the warranty as well. But most of my friends on the 1.4 go for other brands.
