Both the golf gti & tsi are from Wolfsburg, Germany, at least the ones sold in our country.
*
There are some batches of the GTI Mk6 which were sold here in Malaysia that came from the South Africa plant. Check the VIN number to confirm.

Thanks all for reply and confirmation on its place of assembled for Golf 1.4 TSI.

How close is amaryllis red (metallic paint) of Golf 1.4 TSI compared to tornado red (solid paint) of Golf GTI?  Will these colour fade overtime, especially solid paint?
*
Red do fade, check the MkV GTI's especially those which are tornado reds. But of course there are a lot of ways to prevent it from fading. Personally, I prefer Tornado Red! Its awesome

Thanks all for the reply on the colour difference, I was told the new batch of Golf TSI is painted with Tornado Red (Solid Paint), no Amaryllis red.

Love tornado red very much. Need to wash car very often  tongue.gif

I have few queries as below: -

a) Does the Golf 1.4 TSI with tyre pressure monitoring system?

b) How reliable is the 7-speed dry DSG especially the new batch Golf TSI? Have they been software updated?

c) Juttering still a problem?
*
a) No

b) There is a version 2 of the software. Reliability? Not too sure but my mechatronic died on me and while my car was in the workshop, there were 10 other cars waiting in line to replace their mechatronics as well.

c) Yes, juddering is still an issue

i had mine updated when I sent it in for rattling noise problem. VW took the opportunity and update the software without informing me first.

when collecting my car, SA just told me ..." oh, btw, we updated the software for you ".

I did not get RM100 complimentary voucher , this is crappy service from VW  vmad.gif  waste my time and $ going to fix an irritating problem that should NOT be on a new car, now no voucher also.. shocking.gif

Do you feel any difference in terms of the power? Some folks have had some issues with that, they felt that they can feel a loss of power after the update.

yes, loss of torque imo and i feel now there is a 1 or 2 second lag when i accelerate from traffic light.
Seems to be the case for other as well, there are rumours going around that they are detuning the car to prevent mechatronic issues. No idea how true that is or have there been any hard facts to back it.

from what i've read in vwcm, they said the power in S/M modes are not affected from the new firmware,is that true? hmm.gif
*
No idea, so far its all hear say only. No one has actually done a dyno to confirm this.

if this is true, probably means the 7 speed dsg GB unable to handle the 240Nm.
And means, if remap is done to the car, the GB will konk earlier?  blink.gif

Btw, how's the E90 320d?

I heard the late 2010 320i models have the engine changed/upgraded to solve the engine problem that is common for the earlier E90s.
Is this true?
320d is great, love the torque and love the power. Still waiting for my powerkit to arrive.

No idea on the 320i engines, never bothered to look at them. Drove one when my car was in the workshop (courtesy car). Felt so underpowered.

Anyway i'm planning to change to golf r tail light soon. Any recommendation on where can i get it with best price? And also, what did u guys do with the original golf tail light when u changed to the r tail light? Can i trade it in or sell it? If i sell it how much can i get from it? Thanks
*
Best to keep your original lights in the event you want to sell your car you can always refit them back.

My only prob is wv have very few sc, wv should open sc at every state, right now even melaka also dont have....

It isn't cheap to open a VW Service Center, startup cost of around RM25-RM30 million to setup either a 3S center or 4S center.

QUOTE(saratoga @ May 27 2012, 01:35 PM)
looks like VW car has a lot of problem. Does the recent software update really improve anything to the dsg ?
Really hinder my decision to get one.
The resale value of VW line up, is it very bad ? Seek the owners here the opinion.
*
It is supposed to prevent the DSG from juddering especially at lower gears (2nd gear especially). Personally I think the resale value isn't too good.

I believe DRB hicom is the sole distributor VW in malaysia . the price increase is only impact malaysia not other countries .The price increase will be from salex tax or the import tax not from actual price selling to DRB hicom  .  Correct me if i am wrong .?
*
DRB Hicom is not the sole distributor here for VW in Malaysia. Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) has already been established a while back and they maintain the VW brand and distribution. Price increase is usually based on the pricing set by VGM or could be also caused by a new tax setting/bracket for the car. This happened for the Passat CC previously as well.

But DRB Hicom is the official distributor here for Audi as Euromobil is owned by DRB HICOM.

I test drive the show room jetta, feel that there is a jerk i think somewhere 1st or 2nd gear, quite obvious. Power delivery is smooth and fast. Resale value from other forum, seem feedback that won't be good because it is not a T or H brand sad.gif
*
Yup that is the famous juddering faced by the 7-speed dry clutch DSG gearbox. The new software update is supposed to remove that.

You got it the other way around, super charger kicks in first and then the turbo will kick in.

So it takes about a month from the date your car arrive the port until the clear duty date! The thing is I already get my loan approved and signed. Now waiting car to clear duty and get document to register a number plate for my car.

I wonder where they store the car during this period... Cant imagine if few week the car is store near the port. Getting balzing sunlight and errosive sea wind everyday. It would be very bad the the car  sad.gif

Any other new car owner have these experiences also please share.
*
Yeah it is sitting out in the open air, sun shine and rain all kena. Heck check your rotors man, i know the cars which were stuck at the port end up having rusted brake rotors. Easiest to spot.

former. she wanted a white GTi back then but there was no stock. now after a year, she wants to respray it cause we got a silver for her.
*
Just make sure that the shop you are going to have the right facilities to dry the paint on the car. Note that we definitely can't get factory type finish mainly because when they paint the car in the factory it is also oven baked at god knows what temperatures to ensure the paint is laid properly. I do know a couple of shops who have painted VW's (resprayed a Golf GTI to rising blue) but they are in Selangor.

hmm . honestly, problem is not with the paint quality, but more on how well can they assemble back the car.
*
Then best to check with your local VW dealers, talk to the service technician, buy him coffee and find out from him where does their branch send their cars to be sprayed or fixed up. At least you would know that they have experience with VW cars.

hah, thanks. anyway, would it be stupid to just paint the whole car except the engine bay? lol
*
Actually no, a lot of people do choose that option to save on costs. But then it's easier to get detected that the car is reprinted, just makes it a lot more of a headache at road blocks etc...etc...

Hi pals I got my gti today n finished tinting in starblaze. Now trying to play around with the rcd510 I saw a phone button there but when I press it nothing happen. Can I know how I use that feature ? Anyone mind to tell me ?
*
QUOTE(Nicbizz @ Jun 14 2012, 11:25 PM)
This is the bluetooth feature but I was told by a SA that it cannot be used in malaysia.
*
You would need to install the bluetooth option. There are a few outside installers who will install the original VW bluetooth unit and you would be able to have that feature. I have personally seen a number of VW cars (e.g. Golf, Scirocco, etc..) have the bluetooth unit installed and functioning perfectly. No splicing of cables or wires, all original parts.

Bro mind telling where I can get it done ?
*
The best installer that I have seen hails from Singapore. Very professional and very experienced in VW cars.
http://jimmy-cbx.blogspot.com/

He does come to Malaysia quite often as he installed all the cars I have seen during the VW teh tarik sessions. His contact details are all there, best to whatsapp him to see when is his schedule and whether he has stock. He usually fixes the cars in Gardens/Midvalley.

Greetings guys,

really need your help. my dad went and pumped RON95 the other day for my passat and things were good. The next day onwards, i realised that the engine noise is kinda different( louder and doesnt really give a smooth feeling ) when i start the engine. The noise will be there for about a minute or two.  Is this noise due to the petrol that i pumped in or is it some engine defect stuff. Thanks in advance.
*
Sounds like what you are hearing is engine knocking. Let me guess, did you pump Shell Ron95?

Try to avoid pumping from stations that have low traffic. Personally I would prefer Petronas Primax95

Hi Guys, Has anyone received their polo gti yet that can confirm the new price for me, I am still waiting as I'm sure alot of ppl are due to this whole customs holdup and would really like to confirm the new price as SA's say they don't know (or they don't want to tell). Really starting to reconsider as I have heard rumors of it increasing to $155K and $174K.  sad.gif
*
So far no news yet. Have you already placed a booking previously or just waiting for the new price? I have heard that the price is gonna be around that same region as well.
