QUOTE(s7ran9er @ Nov 7 2011, 02:16 AM)
hey fellas, I'm thinking of picking up a mech keyboard for my daily use. Been stalking this thread for couple of times. biggrin.gif

Last time I posted a question on "Blackwidow Ultimate, why the hating/ignore?" I heard the coming stealth edition is going to be cherry brown, should I get it?

Or are they any Zarmor mech keyboard users around here?
*
I just helped my friend to send his BWU to warranty after 1 week of usage due to one of the key's LED decided to give up, what say you?

Surprisingly Razer (or should i say Ban Leong) decided to change a new one straight away for him, less than a day or 2, i will let you think whatever you want, but if for me, i have something in my mind already. smile.gif Not so good to say it out tho.

G3000 series is nice to me too but it's the general population which dislike them for the old-school looks.
Even my younger sibling ask why am I using such an old and ugly keyboard and why not use a Razer/Steelseries keyboard.
I just smile and keep quite. "Ignorance is bliss"

Getting this soon =X [hopefully it will arrive before the weekends]

I paid SGD$175 for brown switches.
Malaysia should receive them soon.

Note that : This are limited edition and will really run out like the early Limited Edition models such as the Filco R and Multi-Cam.
*
@_@ changing the keycaps into yellow and filco word yellow finishing calls limited edition, i shall buy the yellow key caps and put into my filco as well and calls it limited edition too. =x

I haven't settled on a budget yet. I know it's gonna be expensive so I'm still looking around. I don't want a local made keyboard to be honest.
I don't mind 2nd hand but it's got to be a quality keyboard la.
Leopold looks good but how is it for gaming? I get to choose what switches I want?
*
If you actually read through the thread, i've already mentioned alot of times, a keyboard is just a tool, its all lay down to which type of switches you prefer, some people don't like black for gaming when its stated it's great for gaming because they don't like the feeling of using alot of forces to press a button, when they are asked to try black instead, they refused because they liked the brown switch.

Gaming keyboard has all the extra keys and a very good software to use them.
*
That doesn't make them a "gaming" keyboard -.- its just a keyboard with extra macro keys and softwares created by them are purely gimmick -.- furthermore macro keys are banned in competition, and yet they still claims the macro keys help the pro gaming team in competition blablabla, its purely gimmick, wake up son.

Agreed, maybe alot people has never realize, Macro are banned in most gaming tournament (thou i cannot confirm they are banned in MMORPG tournament like WoW, or RO. i mean MMORPG, not MMOFPS )

They are only for convenience for auto buffers as well as doing some repetitive stuff for you, but they are not allowed to use in tournament.

And you have to remember one thing, all we depended on gaming are muscle memory, which you'll respond more faster as you play the game more. Pro gamers uses Muscle Memory, Not Macro.

Let's says you have a keyboard that has alot of extra keys, i mean, Do you actually use them? Every and each keyboard has their own design and key placement, once you get used to it like 1, 2 years, once the product gets discontinue, all your extra key knowledge will be render useless, as Keyboard always has new release and the Macro Key will be always be in different position.

Keyboard Macros are nice only if you use them to do some ridiculous repetitive stuff(something like MMORPG where you play priest applying buff to teammate).

As a reminder always, A macro is to make you more convenient, but they are not dependable.
*
AFAIK, Blizzcon WoW tournament official banned macro keys and even the usage of add ons.
Even the Razer Naga MMO mouse that has a lot of buttons on left side for your thumbs to press also isn't allowed as well.

QUOTE(Everdying @ Nov 12 2011, 05:44 PM)
dunno what u all going on about, but why u all running around in circles and not answering the question?
doesnt anyone mention the magic word - RELIABILITY?
ppl dont want a keyboard that will get stuck while they are trying to do double jumps etc.
ppl want a keyboard that does what its supposed to do, when its supposed to do.
one of the worse keyboards i ever tried, was some cheap generic samsung / everglide one which some CC had.
press a key, and it only detected like 1/2sec later.
*
Oh you wanna talk about reliability, those keyboard that stated gaming i won't suggest people to go for it, most of the time i use confirm will hear the CPU making noises because i press a lot of keys together at once most of the time.

If you want a true working keyboard, you won't go wrong with a NKRO keyboard that most "gaming" keyboard doesn't offer.

reliable != NKRO.
o2jam isnt a game anyway tongue.gif
but pros, and u will still find them, have been using good membrane keyboards for years.
*
Sorry i play SC2 which might leads to pressing a lot of keys together when thing gets hype up.
And no, o2jam is a game, a music game to be exact.

Cherry blue switches isn't really a recommended key when it comes to multiple tapping requires in certain game, and yes its a fact, i've done that and i can felt a little bit stuck when double tapping too fast.

i find ctrl weird, unless ur using toggle.
guess thats why most games have crouch as C for default.
everytime i use ctrl, have to bend the pinky to hit it without losing control of W and A tongue.gif
*
I don't have to bend surprisingly lul :S my pinky is easily reachable to the ctrl. Don't really find ctrl to be weird as crouch, maybe play too much CS? And it was like since 2000 until now i'm still playing CS.

QUOTE(Cyclonechuah @ Nov 12 2011, 07:19 PM)
well, i do find CTRL annoying while playing Half-Life, because need to Space+crouch to jump forward really fast after getting the booster backpack. but damnit. I hate cybercafe pc with chinese-input hotkey as CTRL+Space Bar, which renders it to typing chinese mode while completely disable keypress in the game.
*
You can always disable it yourself lol, well i do know control panel are usually disabled by CC owners, but i have ways to crack them. tongue.gif

That may not necessarily be true. This is Malaysia and our products(normally) are known to be more overpriced.

Therefore, I put by bet on over RM330 RRP. whistling.gif

The possible causes(no offence to anyone sweat.gif ):
1. Dumb buyers - If one is dumb enough to pay higher, I don't think there will be seller dumb enough to reject it.
2. Greedy sellers - A thing is priced at the price the buyer willing to pay.
3. Low population in Malaysia - In China, their things(IT accessories) can be 1-4x cheaper than Malaysia, cause they having super high population.

Keycaps part: Thanks for the info, but isn't it as same as what Squarebox mentioned earlier? And its hard to look for full 104 keys with special eyes catching color from taobao. =\ My only solution atm was wasdkeyboard.com but trying to find some eyes catching color as well.

You have any idea where to source for them? Currently eyeing at orange color, prefer-able blank keys.

Filco logo: Oh wow o.o but how do you take out the existing one? :S

Hope this wasn't a repost, a good sums up of what is a mechanical keyboard, in chiense tho.

So to stalkers out there who are reading this thread for whole time and never bother replying here, watch the video and see why its so expensive, and you will find out every single cents you spend on a mechanical keyboard is well worth paid compare to overpriced "gaming" keyboard out there.

At least the video is pretty much summed up for end user before they purchase a mechanical keyboard, keycaps or what is made of it is just a bonus, which not every end user cares about.

thx 4 reply smile.gif
leopold's price is pretty reasonable. too bad cherry brown is out of stock already.

again,
question: anyone from kota kinabalu here?  know where can i test? tactile / linear, clicky/non clicky

another question:
wanna ask cherry blue owner, will it make your wife/mother/gf/partner/roommate/colleague go mad with it's clicking sound?
*
Back in the 90s keyboard are much more noisier compare to current cherry blue switch, so i think your parents at least won't be bother that much, not sure about current eras, lol.

Paying about RM250 or less for a set of 104 blank orange keycaps (ABS i suppose) from wasdkeyboards.com, is it really worth it or do i have any other option?

Well i'm actually despo, but at the same time of despo'ing, i still have the mind of "does it worth it or do i have better price for it". lol @@
