here's a fastest way, engraved the keycaps, fill the gap with ABS(mixed with phosphors)

And here, you have a cool looking keycap that doesn't even need LED to have backlit feature.

QUOTE(Squarebox @ Dec 9 2011, 04:40 PM)
Doubleshot = the use of two different colour plastic to mold a keycap.

If they are the same colour, it would be a normal(singleshot) keycap.

Full transparent/translucent keycap will look like these :
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

*
All of us already know that. We're talking about font being transparent while keycap are black or colored.

A more accurate name would be "Double Injection Molding"

oh damn sad.gif
Yeah lol. I need to sometimes see my hotkey at 5-8 and with blank keycap it's very hard to see exactly which is 6 which is 7.

Plus sometimes chatting need to use special symbols and it's annoying to press the wrong one lol.
*
it's a good thing, plus a good excuse to start your touch typing lesson, next time, you can show to your friends, you don't need see to type lol.

It takes times, i take about one week to master it, don't worry, time passed very fast, just keep trying and trying, and you'll remember the key position.

Added : my tricks are using palm to know the stance of how far your finger can reach the number, like me, i can reach 5, so if i lift my palm, i slide my finger across the button, can easily know by just counting the bump.

I have a question. Does it mean I can simply just swap to any key as long as it's the same brown switches or I need to buy back from Filco? smile.gif
*
Do you mind to explain deeper abit, we don't really understand what's the mean of swap to any key as long as it's the same brown switches.

If what you mean are Keycaps, As long as they fits Cherry MX Switches, it is compatible with all type of Cherry MX Switches.(Cherry MY Switch keycap is also compatible)

On the other side, you can compare the product on their belonging website and know the difference in these product by reading the specification.

QUOTE(bai1101 @ Dec 11 2011, 10:59 AM)
regular membrane used around 55g +- depend of design. But advance of mechanical keyboard is it fast activate compare to membrane because membrane u need press till btm only the key will activate but mechanical switch not need to btm up also will activate already you press like 2mm like that only, so when u 1st time used it with membrane typing style you will feel tired cause u will auto keep btm it but when u already get used to it, u will  auto not to btm it and make typing very comfort already.

Like me i am black switch user, when i 1st time used my Keyboard is like typing machine cause i keep btm it and finger feel very tired after some time. After few month of using, currently i type with less btm it already which make my keyboard have less sound already compare to first time used. The 1st part u find the different of mechanical keyboard will be the part where the key return to it position after press is very quick/solid compare to membrane.
Not sure about other but that my 1st experience when i start used.

QUOTE(mazei @ Dec 14 2011, 12:05 AM)
Well then good thing I'm considering buying another one then =P

Right now I'm just torn between getting either a Red or Brown(probably Leopold since Cyclone selling it). I keep reading about how Reds are too soft thus can cause inaccuracy which worries me since I play SC2 quite a bit.
*
if you can't remember all the keys accurately, and pressing might hit other keys without intended.(more of like you you play a Dota, hero invoker where you need to memorize all hero orb combination for skill, where you need to remember their skill key without looking at keyboard. but somethings when you do it at fast paste.

Example of your hitting a key "K", which is quite far from your hand position, when you press "K" in a very fast motion, you might hit the key around "K" and thus causing a input to other key.

Cherry MX Switch just only need 2mm downwards to detect a key input. So softer key do really increase the mistake you make.

Note : please remember Cherry MX switch does not increase inaccuracies, It's more of a "Human error"

ABS and PBT Keycap have both the same texture which is Matte.

It is up to keycap manufacturer that they choose to offer smooth or matte surface.

Smooth or matte surface are not the properties of the plastic.

Just clearing up the confusion. biggrin.gif

PBT do last longer than ABS in terms surface durability(ABS will become shiny faster than PBT)
