QUOTE(sundaygirl @ Mar 31 2012, 08:09 AM) i picked up a stray kitten, i think he must be reaching 4 months old now we called him Rocki he s very, very playful & he cheers up the room whenever he s around. the q i have: 1 - should i neuter or should i not? 2 - at what age? 3 - 4 months old would be equivalent to human pre-teen age (like 9/10 years old boy) age you think? i m glad this is a cool channel to share abt our feline darlings |

QUOTE(Listiani @ Apr 2 2012, 04:00 PM) This question had been raise many times and SPCA always giving a lot of excuses why they didn't neuter the kitten. As far as I know, shelter for animal will neuter the kittens/pups as young as 3 months (for female) because they can get on heat at 3 mths old. No fund for SPCA for spaying?? Fund keep coming in and they can afford to buy land and bungalow already. Added on April 2, 2012, 4:44 pm QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Apr 2 2012, 02:48 PM) Guys, I did some research and most opinions point to the fact that Whiskas and Friskies have more artificial flavoring and ingredients rather than pure and natural ingredient. So in long term, it's not good for the cats health. Royal canin should be good for them.....try to avoid those lame product....if u want to buy repack kibble, make sure u get them from reliable seller....or else u will get an almost expired or already expired cat food...good luckI'm considering to switch to Royal Canin pet foods, okay or not? QUOTE(Listiani @ Apr 3 2012, 08:05 AM) I give my support and donation to FFF run by Sabrina Yeap. Do you remember several years ago SPCA put 1 long hair kitten for adoption without spaying her?? Not long after that the new owner proudly declared in one of the animal forum the kitten were pregnant and offer to sell her kittens. At that time this issue was kecoh for a while. |

QUOTE(verulin @ Apr 12 2012, 07:37 PM) Fitrah, I agree with you. Raw diet ftw! as long the cat get the nutrition ok la....im feeding minced meat, they all ok what....unfortunately I don't have the time to feed my cats raw everyday, but I do give them raw chicken neck, gizzards, hearts and carcasses a few times a week to replace their regular kibble diet. As long as the meat is washed properly, it's okay. My cats are worm free and they love exercising their jaws. I don't feed them raw often enough to notice much change in their poo, but from what I've read, others report that there is less poo produced and is much less smelly. and contrary to popular belief, RAW bones are easily tackled by cats. it's the cooked ones that are dangerous as they are softer and more likely to splinter. I sometimes get chicken carcasses very cheaply from the market and they devour everything - ribs, spines and all. ps. I prefer the Raw Meaty Bones diet. I don't see much point in feeding minced meat to cats when they can easily chew through the whole thing. |

QUOTE(Fitrah @ Apr 14 2012, 12:37 AM) It's nice to know you're also feeding your cats raw meat "Cats have the ability to cut chunks of meat into a size that they can swallow. Cats will chew the meat chunks with their molars and literally cut the meat into the size they need to swallow. As a result, the size of the meat chunk you feed to a cat really doesn't matter. As long as the cat can get its mouth over the meat, the cat will begin to cut off a piece of meat. Although cats can cut their meat themselves quite well, feeding them reasonable size chunks of meat does help them eat more faster. Don't feed your cat as if it is an human infant. A cat doesn't need you to cut the meat up into super small sizes. Doing so will just waste your time. Cats can swallow, relatively speaking, large pieces of meat." QUOTE(verulin @ Apr 16 2012, 09:58 PM) haha it's up to the individual la. see what he/she likes best. that why i minced them the good thing about minced is that you can put it in a bowl. If the meat is in chunks they'll just drag it everywhere. So I have to feed them in the bathroom. Added on April 16, 2012, 10:00 pm I posted about my DIY box before. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « some say that you should have 1 box per cat plus one more extra. But my 2 cats share one big one with no problems, sometimes they even share with foster kittens. If multiple cats are sharing one box you'll have to clean up more often. |

QUOTE(Malsavannahs @ Apr 17 2012, 08:48 PM) Hi, i can see you all talking about me and my cattery here. Nice to hear people are interested in Savannahs. My savannahs are Savannahs to Savannahs breeding and you are right to say that it's not Serval to domestic cat breeding. I don't breed Serval to domestic cat as it required a lot of hard work in the sense of finding the perfect condition of breeding. I'm not sure the standard of breeding here in Malaysia but it's nothing when we compare to UK or US breeders. Their catteries are equip with laboratory facility and knowledgable in term of academic qualification as they themselves or they employ staff with Animal Science background just like US breeder A1Savannahs or Select Exotic. They have the capabilities and financial backing. We, catteries in Malaysia normally use the most fundamental method of breeding....by selecting cats with best features and mate them together in a cage or enclosure. Breeding serval to domestic cat require knowledge and each breeders knew what criteria they choose to breed when they pick which breed of domestic cat to breed with a serval. In savannahs world, the a few criteria in which breeders like to follow. I myself choose to breed focusing on Size and Body shape and also the darker coloring. There are a lot of aspect to choose ranging from eye shape and position – or the ear size or position – or the coat pattern and quality – or the size and shape of the body – or the shape of the head or profile. As savannahs are still new to Cat's world and still develop each year, so the possibilities are endless. I'm no expert and still in early stage of learning about cats just like you guys. That's why i don't dare to breed a serval with domestic cat with little knowledge. Yes, it can happen. Just put a serval with a particular domestic cat in an enclosure together and see what happen in a year or two. Who knows they might produce baby kittens but is that so hard? Easy right, but that's not the correct way. It's my understanding that a few Serval owner do that kind of thing nowadays... For me, that's not proper breeding..that's letting nature take it's call. Serval need an open space and love to stay/breed in a warmth and close space like a small cabin. We don't have that in Malaysia, our catteries are more to close catteries....like myself. I hope to reach that goal in breeding a serval myself in the future. I hope to get your support and be the best Savannahs breeder in Asia. p/s - hope you guys don't mind my broken english |

QUOTE(Book.A.Book @ Apr 26 2012, 02:34 PM) Hi, would just like to ask if anyone here knows how much the consultation fee is at UVH (UPM) in Serdang. Haven't been there in years and am considering to bring some my cats over for lack of good vets within the Kajang/Bangi/Semenyih area. I remember that there's a discount for the public, right? Around 10-15% if I'm not mistaken. Also, if anyone knows of any good vets within the area that is not that place that only accept cats (store name starts with M), please let me know. I'd appreciate it. Thanks. |
