i am not using any phone right now and plan to get smartphone...thats the reason i am making careful decision before getting 1 of the these either S2,Iphone 4s or Lumia 800.........
*
If you're new, I would suggest iPhone 4S or Lumia 800. It's very easy to use and pickup.
The major difference between this 2 for a new smartphone user is the PRICE, and secondly, the display, I believe when you take a look at the iPhone 4S display, you will like it more and also the camera, the animation it has; It's more appealing.

Android will need sometime to get used to, and you may face some problems while using. You also need to have patience if the phone lags sometimes or slow to respond.

I would suggest you to:
1. Go to any Nokia Store (you can find one in most of the shopping malls), they have demo units of Lumia 800; Go and try it, check out the design, the display, how it looks like, play around with it.

2. Go to Apple Store (also can be found in many shopping malls), they should have demo units of iPhone as well (you can also try iPod Touch, which is essentially the same). You will notice the display is crisp and clear, you will also notice the animation/graphic is nicer, play with the camera, you should like it more compared to many other phones due to the smoothness and easy to use.

3. If you want, you can also drop by Samsung store and check out the S2; But Note will appeal you more most likely.

If not wrong, you can find all the 3 shops in Sunway Pyramid. There's also Digi and Maxis centre, they might have demo units of some phones.

I believe once you tested and hands on both, you will get your answers more clearly.

Thank u very much for help and guidance..

No problem, most important you choose the right phone for yourself.

Remember, dont choose because other people like it or because other people say its good. Whats important is you like it and the phone suit/satisfy your needs and you're happy with it.
so, best is to try it our for yourself, see it, feel it, touch it and play with it. Experiencing it yourself is the best.

*
That's why ask you to go try it yourself. Once you try, you will know better. Ask also no use.

If you have no patience and cannot stand lag, you better avoid Android; In case it lag or slow to respond, you might feel wanna throw the phone and then call it stupid phone; You need to understand and know what you're doing if you want to use Android.

any specific reason goin for wp7 phone? and how much did u buy Lumia 800 for?
*
Simple and straightforward answer for you: iPhone
As generally, it will satisfy most general users.

If you want something different and want to enjoy integrated social networking: Windows Phone, e.g. Lumia 800

Don't go for Android:
1. Can you stand if you want to make a call, the phone doesn't respond or slow to respond?
Now imagine this: Someone ask you to call someone, you take out your phone, trying to dial and the phone didn't respond, give you the infamous "Force Close" or "Wait" option.
IF you're patient, you can wait.
2. Can you stand if the phone is slow? If it lags? I don't think you can.

So, I strongly suggest you don't think so much on Android and you may have less choice to consider.
In short, Android not suitable for beginners. Unless you're technical person and understand very well.

As I said, go and try the device youself.
Better yet, go try and play around with an Android, see if you know how to use it. Try change settings, try do this or that and compared with other phone.

To be fair... I never face such issue you mentioned on my previous 3 android devices... and now my nexus... maybe that's because those who face that issue have mod their phone firmware or installed some custom firmware.... if you just use it as it is.. everything will be working fine...
*
It's well known, just do a googling, there's many complaints anyway, not necessarily need to mod; And why people use custom firmware sometimes it's because the custom firmware is better.
Between Android, Windows Phone and iOS, there's no doubt and no question, Android is the most unstable, consume lots of memory and the user need to know more things.
On Android device with more RAM, there's less issue, but doesn't mean there is no issue.

To be fair, surely there will be people who have different experience; There're people who face problems with their iOS, when others never face any problems before.

As GENERAL, for a normal/beginner user, I believe they will face more issues if they're not familiar and use an Android; For those who choose Android and able to live with it, usually its because they know what they wanted and how to use it. It's like owning a sports/turbo car, if you want to speed, you should know it will consume more fuel and you may need more/higher maintenance; For those a general/beginner driver who doesn't know, will complain this and that or face problem.

Word of wisdom for me today. biggrin.gif

Still haven't getting my chance to test L800...yet. Guys, performance and stock app/ function wise, is it better than S2? More than 6 months already, S2 is still king of the hill; atleast to people who are not conscious enough with gadgets.

What's differentiate L800 from the rest of WinPho? I once get to hold HTC Hero (WP7.0 of course), its still not as 'rich' as other OSes. For practical-centric people, yes, it does text nicely, music player is nice, Metro is nice, Nokia Maps and Drive are stellar, but what about other 'unit selling point' that  Nokia offers that can make we say "Man, wanna buy WP phone? Samsung and HTC are rip off!! Go for Nokia!" kind of feeling?
*
In terms of OS, Nokia's Windows Phone have:
1. Nokia Drive - which is Nokia Exclusive
2. Contacts Transfer - another Nokia Exclusive, one can easily transfer contacts from any other device via bluetooth.

There isn't much; but I guess most people will decide based on:
1. Design
2. Specs
3. Price
4. Display?
5. Camera?
6. Build Quality?

On for 4 hours plus out of box, no SIM Card, WiFi off.
Play with some camera and viewing pictures.
Current Battery Level: 90%.

When I first turn on, I did adjust the display to low, then back to auto. I notice funny behavior on the "switch", I can slide the swith half way? After I let go, it stuck there for a moment, then slide all the way to the end.... Funny. At first I thought can turn "partially" on, LoL!

is it 100mb is enough for the data usages?
*
For Maxis, you need to monitor your data usage.... If not, overuse will result in extra charges up to a maximum of RM250 (provided if you're subscribe to their data plan)...

depends on your usage pattern.

If you dont load video much and average usage of facebook , twitter less loading photos and video yes its enough
*
Depend on how the person uses facebook also, if always view photo, albums, may need more monthly quota.
Then if click on links to flickr, 9gag, etc. will again consume more usage...
If also click on videos, sure will consume even more usage.

yeah in data plan maxis kinda sucks a bit.........
*
They're fast and good coverage, but expensive and have cap limit.
After few years, they still offering the same 100MB, 500MB, 1GB, 3GB plan... It was this plan since before all the HD content, before phones were able to play HD, record HD, etc.
Back then, even with non-HD, it's possible to use over 3GB. Now with HD content... recording and uploading HD Videos, Cloud storage... those data plan are so outdated... We have to rely on WiFi, which depend on individual, the place you work or goes to might not always have it.

Anybody knows how to:
1. Delete multiple contact?
2. Merge duplicate contact (which have different name, e.g. Facebook Name & Phone Contact name)

Never really know the details of the Windows Phone. I always feel there's something with the 2D-ish UI, the buttons, etc. Then yesterday, I found a bug, which revealed the mystery of the "feeling"... It seems the UI is pretty much web based, that explains a lot.

have you ever consider umobile? their coverage might not be as good as other telco.. but is consider cheap... rm28 for unlimited data+free 100min calls+30sms (prepaid)...
i'm using it on my lumia.. so far so good..
*
When have coverage, it's good; When no coverage, it'll switch to celcom and you need to turn on data roaming, but, the data seems to be hardly working, most of the time no data connection.

3G coverage area is almost the same like Maxis; Where Maxis have no 3G coverage, UMobile seems to suffer the same; But usually, DiGi will have coverage instead. So, if one have 2 line, DiGi and Maxis/UMobile seems to be a good pair.

1. Go to people hub search for that contact then delete it.
2. Same go people hub search for example Andy no. 0166666666 then open at the bottom  click the link chain logo search for Andy facebook name or nick. Search contact works for email, number or Facebook. I was linking them all day yesterday. The phone will give suggestion but if u can't find you need search for it.
*
1. I got many need to delete; Possible to select multiple?
When I transfer contact from N9, seems it generated many "unnamed" contacts, inside have no details.

2. Thanks a lot!

I like the 2D-ish UI a lot. thumbup.gif
*
There's something nice to it (for Windows Phone that is); but the previous Windows Mobile and Pocket PC also using 2D-ish (but more older fashioned type), which looks like old generation Windows 3.11 era

Anyway, it's still simple and sleek.

i heard from other thread.. the speed can goes up to ~5mbps if you are in a good coverage location.... yes... if you exceed the 500mb quota, the speed will be capped at 64kbps...
*
Still faster than DiGi after cap, faster than dial-up speed too?
For non-unlimited data plan, after quota, the charges are much more reasonable and less than Maxis too; It's per MB instead per KB.

Maxis is good; Just make sure you don't overuse.

Yea love how the integration works even mor simplify than Nokia n9. The twitter and Facebook default can't receive pm message that's the disappointing part. Need to use 3rd party app, looking forward for wp7 integrates with 3rd party app then that would perfect

Added on February 21, 2012, 10:13 am

For me yes maxis is the best. Very stable and very fast.
*
I think it's still early stage, as long as they did it correct like Maemo/MeeGo, they can add more services later (e.g. Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger, Skype, etc), same goes for the Instant Messaging (IM) part.
As long as they built it into the core and the base is right; Unlike Android, it's so messy especially with each manufacturer customize their own further, we get so many duplicates (the contact's profile can be so complicated) and there's no true integration.

The messaging via Im is awesome very simple and fast another flaw can't send offline message beside that it's great. Even the ui look web based but it look sleek unlike android like on Sgs ii abit cartoonish. The wifi connect also very good even it disconnect it reconnect instantly without issue. Waiting for them to do like belle shortcut button for wifi access, mobile data on/off

Don't worry  when u reach like 70% or 80% maxis will send you an SMS. When u reach your limit it will also send you an SMS.
*
I still prefer Maemo, kakakaz

Yup, shortcut button access is important. The belle shortcut/pulldown is actually from Android, it's a neat feature; The one of N9/MeeGo is not bad also. I keep tap the TOP thinking it's N9, but nothing drop down, lol.

Good, now got SMS, last time don't have; I call ask Maxis to check, they also don't have log. Lucky that time got max limit charge of RM250.

QUOTE(edwinlcw @ Feb 21 2012, 10:36 AM)
yea.. agreed.. don't really like the ui on the sgs2..
anyway.. unless you are a heavy web user or always stream song/video from internet, you will hardly exceed your monthly data quota. i'm on maxis 1gb plan... average just using around 300mb permonth...
*
Depends on user; People who uses social networks a lot like Facebook, will more likely to use more, plus, if friend share photos/albums, videos, flickr, 9gag, etc. it's another story; unless most place you go has WiFi or you can wait until there is WiFi connection. It really depends on individual.

and like Shifu aspire said, now it's web based; or if you notice, it's updating feeds from Facebook or other social networks (Live), etc. frequently into the People Hub, when you go to "Pictures", it's loading photos/albums from social networks.... and it may also update profile photos of your contacts, which may have hundreds...

Better go Nokia store, the freebies worth RM600++.
Monster Purity earphone + MS Office 2010 + Wireless Mouse.
If you don't want, you can try selling those off and get back some money, thus lowering the cost of your phone.
