We should not expect too much or so rely on Clevery alone. We still need 1-2 attacking/crestive mid and if ok, enhance our poor defence....

Though i understand Cleverley is and might be an integral part of the team, what i cant understand is what's the supreme hoo-haa on him? Sure he's a good player, but if he plays and have a bad game or 2, will you guys still blindly support him? Why is Carrick never given the same support?
We need consistency from all players. Ashley though started well, is poor. Valencia, poor. Nani, poor. The list goes on. We peaked too fast, and unfortunately we can't really cope well with injuries this time around.Which is pretty unusual since we have always managed to conjure a favourable result under duress circumstances. I for once am glad we din qualify. At least we know now that we are NOT that good yet. We need to find our footing first and with our exit from CL, at least we can slowly fine tune the team. Just like what happened in 2005-2006 season. |

Our players are good, but lack of consistency. I would say Carrick is a good player, but he barely reach Scholes/Giggs level where they can read the game nicely. We need consistency from all players. Carrick and Cleverley are two different kind of players, as I don't think TC23 would do the same job as Carrick deep in the midfield areas. The same goes for
MC16 if he ever play on top. TC23 just more agile and more energetic runs from him. Scholes was that kind of player up until before his few last seasons. Probably because of his fitness. Can't make that kind of runs anymore. Fortunately, his long range passing were outstanding as well as his short quick passing. |

I think most United fans are too used to our high tempo attacking play. I know people who will constantly moan that Carrick is the most negative player ever, he never make runs, whenever he gets the ball he either passes it to the back or to the sides, etc. Personally, I think Carrick provides us with midfield stability. He intercepts crucial passes and provide some solid tackles. |

i actually thought we created more than enough to win the match...just the finishing was poor...Rooney had a couple or more moments to score but couldnt...Nani and Giggs created some good chances
1 goal down we are always in the game...took a small defensive lapse from Smalling and we are 2 goals down with less than 10 minutes to go liao...so can say almost gg edi anyway to sum up it was all De Gea's fault wasnt it? This post has been edited by SGSuser: Dec 8 2011, 04:22 PM |

Carrick's passing ability is good, not great. He lacks mobility, reaction slow and doesn't perform well under pressure. Play against weaker team he can have his own sweet time to pick passes, playing against high tempo team like Barca, he is doomed. Teams(M.City,Barca,R.Madrid) that are performing well and scoring a lot of goals play high tempo 1-2 and constant movement off the ball. United midfield with either parring Carrick/Park/Giggs/Fletcher is like 6/10 rating on speed and the passing between them is not sleek or brilliant. Giggs is the best among the four and he is what 37/38 of age? The creativity and movement off the ball is horrible.
Anderson possess more pace and penetration but lacks passing and often loses the ball. He does link up well at times. Then there is Tom Cleverly...man we are robbed from watching if this kid is the real deal or not. Very impressive show from him till the injury hit him. Admit strikers are dipping in form, but what can they do if the service is poor? Collect the ball from half way line and dribble past 6 players and then release a 25 yard screamer? Yes, only if I can plug PS controller to my TV and do that yesterday against Basel, FCUK! |

Well, well...de Gea bashers come back eh? Can he won the Europa for 2nd time this season?
With Vidic injured, it's hard for us to get the 1-0 win again after this. Carrick may contribute, but in the end the defenders who need to buck themselves. And yes the lack of goals is worrying at this stage. The mounting injuries also. Inconsistency has cost us big time this season. |
