Two things that you can do now.
1) Pray hard that your phone wont giving any problem.
2) Start saving funds as a precautionary action incase your phone run into problem later on.

guys, not sure if its possible, but currently the S2 has 480 x 800 pixels...when upgraded to ICS 4.0 will it have higher resolution as the Nexus? Just wanting to find if it will be a hardware limitation
*
Even if SGSII receive ICS firmware upgrade, i'm sure the sceen will remain at 400 x 800 pixels. Firmware upgrades won't bump up sceen pixels :-)

Ok, it seems like non-g version is not getting the 2.3.5 update, or maybe not so soon...
*
If you're waiting for the official release through Kies then its gonna be a long wait as local firmware is not even 2.3.4 yet.

QUOTE(bear-lcc @ Oct 26 2011, 07:18 PM)
Hi,
I am new here. My s2 is non-g version. Wish to upgrade it os from 2.3.3 version to 2.3.5 version. any way to not void the warranty but able to proceed to 2.3.5? thanks for the help / advice
*
Same answer as above. Only way to get 2.3.5 or even 2.3.4 firmware is to flash other region official firmware. No root is needed but technicaly still void you warranty
as you're getting your firmware not through official channel/way called Kies :-P

Guys,if really wan buy new s2.Any advice / suggestion to buy G version or non-g version? Just wan a stable phone only with camera, gaming with good condition.
*
Gaming is almost non issue here as both version can play games without problem. The main choice will fall under roms category. Do you like flashing custom roms or you can live happily with stock roms.?
If you're kaki flashing type then the most logical choice is go for a non-G version.
If you dont mind stuck with stock roms then get a G version as the price is cheaper.
~~just my two cents~~

Now market still gt non-g version s2?I think hard to buy non-g version s2 already. I feel that G version s2 cannot play HD game and will lagging.Besides,i realise that nowadays G version s2 the camera will appear "camera failed" when i click at some shop for testing purpose.
*
If playing HD games is the most important aspect in your phone choice then better wait for Nexus or Note as both have HD screen. As for camera, it's the first time i heard camera failure on the G version. If that really the case then you can always bring it to service centre for warranty claim.

Added on October 27, 2011, 7:59 amICS could be coming in January next year

http://samsunggalaxys2review.org/samsung-g...te-in-jan-2012/

I believe Samsung will only release firmware update that can optimized Mali 400MP in January not the actual full fledge ICS upgrade :-)
Otherwise Samsung cannot launch SGS3 lor as everybody got ICS on their SGSII..:-P

Well we really woul not know. Maybe we will have Android 4.0 in January and SGS 3 will have something like 4.1 or 4.2 or however they want to number it.
*
Nahh., Samsung always release new firmware version on a new product first. After that only they release the upgrade to their older phones. I remember waiting like hell to get Froyo on SGS (that time still on Eclair). All the sudden Tab 7 release with the new shinning Froyo on it. Months later then SGS get Froyo upgrade :-(
Same cycle happen. All Samsung product sitting on Froyo (except Tab 10.1 on Honeycomb) then Samsung release new product SGSII with Gingerbread. Months later then other phones receive Gingerbread upgrade.
Gonna be the same shit again. SGS3 release with ICS on it then only other phones such as SGSII and Note etc will receive ICS.
~~just my two cents of course~~

you forgot one thing, SGS2 is a revolutionary phone. People use it everywhere. Samsung would be very stupid not to update it, cuz people would skip SGS3 if seeing how their flagship phone not updated.

I used to use Desire(a revolutionary single core phone), and HTC said no GB for them cuz sense 3.0 is too big. but in the end, its GB with a compressed sense baked into them. you know, many people are behind it, protesting, complaining.
*
I'm not saying Samsung not going to update ICS for SGSII. What i'm saying is Samsung gonna release new product with ICS on it first. Only then other Samsung phones will receive ICS updates. Samsung is not like Google where it can upgrade its firmware continuously. Samsung is a phones manufacture where its profit come from selling phones and not selling firmwares. If SGSII receive it ICS promptly, there's no need for Samsung to build the new SGS3 then.
~~just saying~~

whats the difference between g (i9100g) and non-g machine?
i also see there is a i9100t.

how to tell the difference between ori and ap machine when buying?
*
Bro, you wont get a T version unless it's AP phone from Australia. And try not to buy that version as I9100T is full of Telstra telco bloatwares :-)

blink.gif So when is SGS3 due to release? Anyway we still got xda to get our ICS early. Hopefully...
*
Most probably the same cycle as SGSII. Launching in April and arrive here around June. By that time SGSII is already one full year old.
Yes xda dev will surely port ICS into SGSII once Google release its source codes a month after Nexus release to market. Only thing is, it is from Google ICS source codes and not from Samsung ICS source codes. Some Touchwiz features are bound to not working properly if ported from Google souce codes as what happened with CM7. But atleast SGSII can still taste ICS. Better ada than takde :-)

I read through the first page information. And i come out with these few questions. Sorry im starter kid in smartphones.

1- I need to root my phone before i get to install the flash rom?
2- Rooted android phone can get unroot so that my warranty will not be        void?
*
1) You got to have root in order to flash any custom roms
2) You flash official stock firmware back and you lose your root.

Need help~ My S2 gallery now becomes very laggy, swipping photo and folders are not smooth at all, and sometimes abit hard to swipe photo, need to swipe 2 times, any solutions? sad.gif
*
Did you off your phone recently?
If yes, then it always like that as it clear your gallery ram. Open you gallery and swipe all the images from start until finish. Next time you open your gallery, it will be much quicker. My gallery got 18K images and it open without any lag or problem.

you mean switch off phone? No, i always let it turned on.
but sometimes I will clear memory through task manager, will it affect gallery performance?
*
Yes, clear memory mean you clear your gallery ram. So when you open you gallery, it had to star loading again. If you got many images inside, it will take ages to open smoothly. Next time dont clear you RAM as you phone have plenty of it.
