Where do you get that quote/article from? I guess from one of the iPong fan ehh.??
Anyway, no it's not true. One of the SGSII main attraction is the screen. If the screen is bad, SGSII wont sell like goreng pisang panas until this day :-P
And if you want to flash custom roms then look for the non-G version as the G version dont have any custom roms at this moment.

If you buy from SEP you get 2 years warranty otherwise it's one year warranty. For SenQ you get one year SME warranty + ( 2 - 5 years SenQ warranty)

If the battery can last 9 hours with screen display on, it can give 12 - 14 hours for SGSII as the SII screen is smaller than Note. But if the battery fit la o_O
