Depends on your usage. But normal use I believe everyday have to charge at least once. Its a 4.3in screen with 1.2mhz dual core so its gonna suck the batt fast.

It's simple actually, Samsung can only produce a certain number of Exynos chips, and ramping up production is not THAT easy, even if you produce you own chips.

So, with a limited number of Exynos chips, they make sure that it goes where it matters (where the media exposure is best), ie. the US and Europe, everybody else is second priority.

SOOOOO, we get the G to fulfil the overwhelming Asian demand. At least until they can successfully ramp up Exynos production.

About the battery life, I came from a heavily modded iP4 with external battery packs, to a heavily modded SGS2 with extended internal batteries. I can honestly say the iP4 has a VERY SLIGHT edge in terms of battery life (the iP4 handles standby/music playback with screen off better in terms of battery consumption, and the IPS screen sucks less power while in use).

But while I have to buy two bloody 2000mah battery cases to ensure the iP4 runs through a full day of heavy use (RM400++ investment), the SGS2 has replaceable batteries lol (50% cheaper investment for 2 Momax 2700mah batteries to run about the same amount of time).

And as a bonus, I can STILL use the microUSB for OTG/HDMI with the SGS2 while using the Momax batteries. With the iP4, I had to pull it OUT of the battery case to use the connector for TV-out etc etc, which was a notable hassle.

Mind if I ask about the Momax battery? How good is it compared to stock battery?

Not NO MORE CHIPS, just NOT ENOUGH CHIPS to meet demand. Say they produce 10k Exynos chips per month, demand is about 30k. They make sure the 10k goes to "critical" markets like the US to ensure media exposure.

And we get the G. Like ooikl said, you think they'd stop producing SGS2 over something as trivial as insufficient SOC supply? We should be thankful actually the SAMOLED production line can cope, or else the G would have had OMAP SOC AND SLCD (like what happened with the NexOne).

I think Samsung is too busy preparing Exynos 4212 chips for Galaxy Note hence no more or limited older Exynos 4210. SGSII production achieve its target already. Time to concentrate and put full effort on the next product

Agree, they may not have enough production line and they need to start churning out the new models.

@cftoon: Battery is VERY GOOD (at least 40% longer runtimes compares to stock) but the supplied cover feels cheapo and looks hideous. But for less then RM180 each, I can't complain. The Mugen is RM300 each and true capacity hasn't even been measured yet. The momax is rated at 2650mah out of the advertised 2700mah, so it's very much worth it IMHO (if you don't mind the cover la).

@dreamweaver: knowing Samsung, yeah lol.

Ok 3 hrs screen on. With 40% bat life left. . 24/7 data.

Lowering brightness to 20% or less than30%
Significantly improves battery life
