thread is quiet w/o any matches for last week.
anyway Bale, Defoe, vertonghen all scores for their country.
hope they can continue it for this week's match against reading.
Dempsey should be able to play right?
along with Lloris

all new transfers are available to be selected now. let's see whether AVB can make the team click this weekend.

Ian Harte still playing? He must be really old today. Bale or Lennon combine with other Spurs midfielder should have no problem overrun Harte's territory.

I know its Reading but a W is always motivating to the team and a move in the right direction. I now see that AVB's system is completely different from what Redknapp have them play.

No more of that long ball or counter attacking via the wings which made us fairly predictable. Players move around all over the field, short passes are employed and attacks can come any where on the field if an opportunity presents itself.

the team isn't even there yet ... they were still working out each other's movement ... a few stray passes here and there ... there's still room to improve ... that's a good thing ...

there were quite a few long punts to defoe and azza ... that's part of the plan, i think ...

Yeah, long punts will happen if they oppportunity arises. For Defoe's 2nd, Bale made a great run that took one defender with him to the right while Defoe continued his run to the left.

Agree that the players are still getting used to how to position themselves in this new system. And it requires that players move out of their preferred positions.

nice game but still in the second half the team looks frugal and allowed Reading to control possession leading to the consolation goal...
Defoe wasted too many chances even he scores 2 but he should get at least 4 goals under his name from this game...
anyway a win is still nice and hope the team continues this form when we meet Lazio for the european match.

I believe we are still a work in progress. Yet, I have a gut feel we will do very well against Lazio this midweek. Continental teams are not as physical as EPL teams and will allow us to try this system again. I also expect Lloris to start in goal.

Ends 0 - 0 but Dempsey was denied a debut goal as he was onside but called offside. Caulker's goal looked good but was up to the official to call it.

Spurs dominated possession with no goals to show in the end.

3 goals disallowed but i thin caulker's goal was legit. both are holding each other but then its ref call.
anyway good possession but AVB dont rely much on the flank where actually we showed good promise there...
and lazio's defender are quite old with the CB is 35yo.
AVB should utilizing bale and azza's speed as cracking the defense from center is quite hard.
typical italian defence...
anyway good game, able to make me stay awake...

hey, bale plays as left back today, his previous position wink.gif
naughton injured as well?
BAE is out for a month.
or AVB wanna try something tonite?

actually i'm quite impressed with vertonghen.
he showed he can go up, assist attack and come back to defense.
when he plays CB he provides deep passes and when he switched to LB he's rampaging the flank.
btw defoe wasting too many chances in this game. he should have hattrick with the chances he got.
overall game is ok but first half was dissapointing.
