CIMB sucks. No matter what you do, they want you pay the GST.
*
Banks are not obliged to compensate the GST. And this is applicable to not only CIMB.

Added on March 20, 2012, 12:10 pmBy the way, you can try to cancel your card and state GST as the reason. For platinum and above cards, they might sometimes offer the RM50 back. For anything below, only partial. Keyword: might, sometimes.

I have a Public Bank Credit card, but I didn't know if this condition applies to all series of the card.

Spend RM80 within 2 months of GST charged to get GST waived.

The card I am holding is MG Visa.

alexwsk, it will be automatically credited into my account (according to the CS). No, the card is a Mutual Gold VISA.

HLB as my dad is a Since 02 customer, and got charged the annual fees for the platinium card membership ~ RM488++, he's in rage and i helped him to call and cancel the card since that's the only card that is useful when we want to get Cheapo Free gifts while dining...

CS called back within the next day to beg us not to discontinue the card and promoised to give us Full Annual Fee + GST reduction to RM50 if i spend RM1000 with them for that particular month, and they will also give me 1 Free gift *16GB Thumbdrive Duno wat brand, as the CS said* if we can do the 1k transactions within 7 days...

went to TnG reloaded 500 per card, and gifts are in process in sending over to my house...

Seems like HLB is really short on customers i assume...

(but sad case wise... 5000 TP wasted, and ~ RM50 rebates gone, but for this month's rebate already reached, so its... acceptable somehow~)

WaCKy-Angel,

Alliancebank doesnt waive the GST but you can request to be compensated with TBPs to offset the GST. All it takes a short (1 minute) request over the phone. I got my compensation with less than a day and they even filled out all the forms. Basically I use 10,000 TBPs for the GST and they credit me 10,000 TBPs at the same time.

I dont know how much you need to spend on the card to qualify though - but it cant be that high, the card in question had less than 6-figures charges over the last 12 months.
