Hello guys, i have a toyota landcruiser prado which i want to have a engine swap from a 2jz

I know this is a weird project but do bear with me sweat.gif

anyway i have some questions and i'm not completely sure whether its possible(jpj approval etc)

so thats why i came here, could you guys enlighten me? blush.gif

Well the other stuff i plan to do, is pretty optimistic but oh well i'll try my best laugh.gif

the stuff include

In car PC, interior upgrade(wood trims etc), sunroof, new frontseats, sapphire black or white paint job.

Oh yeah what are required to install a 2jz? would i have to get a new gearbox? the current one is a 5 speed manual

thanks guys notworthy.gif

best if you mount everything from the 2jz halfcut to the prado, dun mix n match. you are buying a complete halfcut right? 2jz engine has manual gearbox too, but the price is not the same with auto, its little bit higher if i'm not mistaken.

your project is not weird at all, i have been toying this idea of using 2jz engine on a 245 gl (not 240) volvo for quite some time just no time to make it happen.

on jpj side, u need to do puspakom inspection after engine installation, they have few forms and if yoy have insider (runner) things will be easier but of course need to pay lah. but preferably don't install those ICE that you mention above before inspection, things might get nasty if the puspakom guys see stuff that is not common / normal in the car.

all the best!

i'm hoping to find a good half cut 2jz but if there's no choice i guess i have to mix and match. But if a 2jz is out of my reach i'd opt for a 1jz twin turbo halfcut which is relatively cheaper

ahh 245 gl if im not mistaken thats a wagon right? Wolf in sheeps clothing right there if u put a 2jz in it laugh.gif

hmmm yeah i thought so too...puspakom guys are a real pain in the behind, sent in my 530i recently..they really gave a lot of probs with the tint and stuff.

hmmm any idea whether i'd be able to use the lowrange box or 4wd etc after the transplant? unsure.gif

and thanks dude thumbup.gif

i am using a 1jz hilux.

no problem at all as long as you reused/refit the ori 2jz dashboard and modified the gearbox to use the 4wd(combine 2jz gb with your ori gearbox bell housing).

my hilux is rwd now but i am going to change it back to 4wd.
just remember(last time its 25% dont know about now)

2.4l + 25%=3l
2.5l + 25%=3.125l
2.8l + 25%=3.5l

Someone asked about this before. In the end, keeping the original diesel engine is the best. The main point is torque. Petrol turbo needs big HP to get torque. Diesels does not. The only other petrol engine that has high torque without turbo is 1UZ or 2UZ. They are both V8. Starts from 3.2L. 1J or 2J in the end its practically for show. U need lots of revs to keep the turbo spooled in the powerband. Where else diesels only need 1500-2000 rpm to hit peak torque.

If u intend to go off road like construction sites and farm lands, diesel is the only way to go. Ready torque in any condition if u are stuck in mud. With 1J/ 2J, u wait la the engine reach 3K rpm or above only then the kick comes in. Depends also if turbo is small or big. wink.gif

I won't plan on going for serious offroading, just basic climbing hills etc

besides after changing the suspension and lowering the ride height the car won't really be offroad worthy anymore...not to mention bodykit going to be added in the latter sweat.gif

no need to lower, just put on a 20" rim with 275/60 20 and it will fill the gap and looks lowered(but you will need at least 10k for that). brows.gif

yeah.. google for 2jz prado,very poisoning. brows.gif
