Someone asked about this before. In the end, keeping the original diesel engine is the best. The main point is torque. Petrol turbo needs big HP to get torque. Diesels does not. The only other petrol engine that has high torque without turbo is 1UZ or 2UZ. They are both V8. Starts from 3.2L. 1J or 2J in the end its practically for show. U need lots of revs to keep the turbo spooled in the powerband. Where else diesels only need 1500-2000 rpm to hit peak torque. If u intend to go off road like construction sites and farm lands, diesel is the only way to go. Ready torque in any condition if u are stuck in mud. With 1J/ 2J, u wait la the engine reach 3K rpm or above only then the kick comes in. Depends also if turbo is small or big.
