QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ May 18 2012, 12:29 AM) The best FD rate for 3 months tenure perhaps is HSBC. 50% of the FD will get 5% 50% of the FD will get 3.05% (HSBC's 3 months FD board rate) Average rate is 4.025% ---> (5% + 3.05%) = 8.05% / 2 But the drawback is: the minimum FD has to be RM 200K This FD promo will end on 30 June 2012. I don't have 200k cash lol ..

Anyone know whether the SCB super salary a/c is considered as current or saving a/c? I'm confused when using their debit card at the ATM.

QUOTE(magika @ May 24 2012, 09:12 PM) For 1 mth fd, nowadays I put in Maybank eFD as easy to deposit plus instant upliftment (online only). Interest doesnt really make much of a difference. In fact my savings account just enough for 1 month expenses.. he..he I am Uncle Scrooge reborn.. Thanks for thr infor. Added on May 24, 2012, 10:39 pmQUOTE(magika @ May 24 2012, 08:58 PM) Every now and then FD promotion came up with lots of term and conditions, each time has to figure out how to exactly benefit from it. Sometimes depend on each RM different interpretation, sometimes when figure it out still got some possible clause which depends on banks goodwill(eg. Scb, whether bank will still give supersalary interest on top ). Frankly, eventhough I am quite free and doesnt mind travelling extra distance for a bit extra money, when still got uncertain clause, then give up. I am a person who does not like being played around, dont mind spending more expenses to right if I am slighted (I have made numerous complaints on various issues before, so far all resolved quite amicably) so since I am very sensitive chose to try not be involved in uncertain things. Exception so far on Islamic FD as quite certain dividen will be as stated(read my lips,.. Bank Rakyat). In fact , below 30k does not interest me at all, as so and so only. However, playing Fd musical chair does teach one to value money and it build interest in increasing our net worth. So, forgive my ranting, but it is encouraging to see quite a number of people interested in this thread (wintersun keep it up, you will make it one day) . Agreed n this thread is really informative. i started to switch between fd after reading this thread lol This post has been edited by 1282009: May 24 2012, 10:39 PM

QUOTE(gsc @ May 25 2012, 11:43 PM) have read the previous posts. just want make sure I am doing the right thing for SCB cash back promotion. I already have e$aver account but it seems that eSalary is enjoying a higher interest. on 1 Jun 2012, open eSalary account with RM30,020 deposit make 1 transaction during 1 Jun to 31 Aug Leave the money there till 1 Sept and enjoy RM300 cash back. for those already in deposited the money in May, is this correct? Thank you U also need to maintain some money in your esaver a/c. When u open the new supersalary a/c, the consultant will calculate the amount for u. For my case, I need to bank in few hundreds to my curr a/c since I opened the supersalary in mid May. This post has been edited by 1282009: May 25 2012, 11:59 PM

QUOTE(Pink Spider @ May 30 2012, 10:56 AM) a good bank will do so...what's 1-2 days interest to them? Only a stingy bank would wanna delay us There is well known one which did that. I opened my FD previously in another bank - OxBx on Sunday with banker's cheque too. The cert I received is effective Monday even though they issued it on the same day I opened the FD. Added on May 30, 2012, 12:11 pmQUOTE(magika @ May 30 2012, 12:05 PM) Deposit date is still the same day so no problem. Added on May 30, 2012, 12:07 pmguess my branch must be lazy or not efficient. However MGM also reported the same case, if i am not wrong.. Possible, maybe different branch different practice This post has been edited by 1282009: May 30 2012, 12:11 PM

QUOTE(o0o0 @ Jun 8 2012, 03:24 AM) Bank Rakyat is always offering the best FD rate in Msia = 4.01% for 12 months. But why seem like everyone here isn't flavor with Bank Rakyat FD? Based on previous comments, the FD rate of Bank Rakyat is fluctuating. Any one can confirm how it fluctuate? Is it means that after i deposited with 12 months FD, my interest is not locked at 4.01% and it is depend on bank time-to-time revised? The interest is calculated n printed on the slip.
