Hi, creezalird,

Thanks for your great Full Guide! Wow! This is the most complete and understandable user guide I ever seen, it seems include any kind of well know rooting, updating guide using different methods.

End up I choose to buy the Mobile Odin Pro, it is such simple and easier to use, once against thanks for your Full Guide, without it, I don't even know exist of Mobile Odin Pro as all the while I am using PC Odin or CWM, but this Mobile Odin Pro is much simple and easier to use for flashing Stock Firmware with Root function. smile.gif

Now testing the I9100GXXLA1 firmware, hopefully it was fixing all my hanging issue, especially the Hotspot hanging issue. All the while I keep facing hanging issue most the time after on and off the Hotspot function. I was hoping it do fix the bugs without need of wipe data as I didn't do it yet, unless it not fix, then just do it. I had install too many things, wipe is a bit troublesome for me even though I got Titanium Backup.

Below is my first impression on I9100GXXLA1 firmware:
  • Seems pretty smooth everywhere, I can feel like they is no any slightly jerking issue that happen in previous Malaysian stock rom.
  • I try the camera and snapping quite some pictures, and play around the function + view during snap, it seems pretty stable and no hanging.
  • Beside cannot set the phone language as Chinese (I no need this also), they is no any issue on displaying Chinese wording anywhere, include SMS, Music Player, Contacts and etc. biggrin.gif
  • My AnTuTu benchmark jump from 4.8k to now 5.9k biggrin.gif Wow! This is a great improvement! From the Bar chart, now my score is quite near to origin I9100 device. I am loosing slightly due to my SD card performance only. biggrin.gif
  • New Lockscreen - same as Galaxy W Lockscreen. (Anyway I only use WidgetLocker, hehe!)
  • Extra app call "Music Hub" which not working in local, it is mainly design for Europe country I believe. Just left it or remove via Titanium Backup. No issue for me. wink.gif
At the moment, Never Regret Update to I9100GXXLA1. biggrin.gif In-fact I shall do it long long time ago. biggrin.gif Thanks for your high recommendation in previous few post. wink.gif

** As for Hotspot wise, I need sometimes to confirm it never hang after on/off as it not every time occur such issue.

Andrewtst, that one review is clean and impressive, should be seductive enough for kldoc to jump ship from old rom..lols

Haha! Now I am charging my phone, tomorrow will know how the battery performance. smile.gif

you guys referring to LA1 = XXLA1 right?

currently im on DZKL3, if i wanna change to XXLA1, just download the tar file and flash with Odin, then flash superatmos 3 via odin also, then flash the XXLA1 with odin again to remove yellow triangle. am i on the right path.
*

If you no need CWM, just buy and use Mobile Odin Pro, it can direct flash XXLA1 (I9100GXXLA1) and did a nicer root for you. Using this method is faster, easier and no yellow triangle.

If you need CWM, later just flash superatmos 3 via ktool, if not mistaken flashing via ktool won't give you any yellow triangle mark.

More infor, kindly head over to creezalird Full Guide, you can find this useful full guide on his signature.

are u backing up the whole rom using TBP? it is recommended to batch backup only data app first, after that batch backup selected sytem app, like messaging, calendar and so on. As you are not requiring the whole system backup, just selected ones.

everything will be backed up to a titanium backup folder inside sdcard(internal) not external.
*
Actually you can set backup to external sdcard via preference. smile.gif

Agree, I seldom like custom rom unless it is something special and cool. smile.gif

Simple tweak stock rom will do.

Hi, creezalird

Got a question, did superatmos v3.0 much better than stock LA1 kernel?

Do they have SmartAssV2 governor for SetCPU? Is this setting better? Normally what governor you set for SetCPU? I need a great in performance + saving battery setting. Now my battery still drain too fast.

If I flash the superatmos v3.0 via ktool, it will not having yellow triangle right? The superatmos v3.0 can flash via ktool right?

Appreciate much your help. smile.gif

perfomance wise, superatmos 3.0 and stock LA kernel are the same

superatmos 3.0 is just enhanced with CWM and some small things, but no extra governors like smartass or whatever.

i dont set anything for mine, just stay default at hotplug.

how fast would u say fast?

if using ktool/mobileodinpro, no yellow triangle will occur, but u need to extract it to zImage first. If u want to have many governors, u can try lucifr kernel, but some people are reporting heat problem, but some others not.

u have the same idea like me. i was on ios too before, but still right now, just hardly using the ipod touch.
jailbreaking and stuffs, too easy...boring for me..lols..i like to do something more challenging..
*
Oh, thanks a lot. I had no idea set at what, I do set as powersave, before is performance but that quite drain battery. I never try on hotplug before.

I no need superb fast, what I need is they is no any lagging/jerking when flip page or anything that with animation on launcher. I notice it slightly jerking when use on demand.

Thanks a lot for the explanation. wink.gif

---------------------------------
I also got 1st generation of iPod touch, haha! now it is under freeze world, haha! as I hardly use it. Maybe because I own the 1st generation of iPod touch, iPhone never fancy me, as I feel really bored on it already, nothing much to customize even after jailbreak.

hotplug should be the best for default, and in LA1, hotplug is much2 better.
for your information, perfomance will always set the speed at high settings, if u set 300-1ghz, it will always run at 1ghz only, thats why the battery drain

same like powersave, it will set at lowest speed, ie 300mhz only

both of those governors will not throttle between speeds. it will stick to one speed only, either highest or lowest

ondemand is demand based throttling, so of course it will introduce some small lags.

better use hotplug. i am using hotplug, and never turn back.lols

mine is ipod touch 4g..lols..
*

I just try out hotplug, yup! It is the best, no lagging. I find it is the most smoother also. smile.gif and not always run in full speed.

Hope this solved my battery issue as well with best speed. smile.gif

Thanks a lot. biggrin.gif

and use io scheduler "deadline" or "noop" for more better read and write speed.

Hi, may I know where to set this? I don't see any setting for it at SetCPU, or I shall use which apps for it?

now u are on stock or superatmos 3.0?

if on superatmos 3.0, u can just set it in an init.d script
if not, i think u need to use another app like voltage control, as setcpu kind of not updated anymore.

my better recommendation, flash superatmos to get init.d support

then u can even flashed pikachu01 thunderbolt script and get much2 perfomance.
*
I still on stock, I can flash to superatmos 3.0, after that what shall I do? Remove SetCPU and use Voltage Control?

and how and where to get the init.d & pikachu01 thunderbolt script support?

easiest way is to use voltage control, as voltage control can also change the IO scheduler.
regarding the thunderbolt script, it is better if u read from the thread at xda yourself as it requires a bit more reading.
from pikachu01 thread, download the latest 2.5.1 thunderbolt, lib zip and also sqlite zip. three files.

these three files can be flashed using CWM, but need to mount system and data first (from CWM too, under mount)

Added on March 6, 2012, 3:57 pm

nope, never change mine, what comes with rom, i use that
*
I testing Voltage Controller now, the I/O Scheduler noop or deadline, which is better?

it is up to u mate, both can be considered fast enough, noop is abit faster than deadline, but for long term usage without reboot, deadline is preferable as it wont congest the data.

much better is SIO scheduler, but it is a modded scheduler, so not included in stock kernel tongue.gif
*
Oh.

I am a bit confusing now, as SetCPU can set during screen off different speed, this Voltage Controller cannot? Or it no need?

During save as boot, I shall save as init.d.script or choose (Recommended) startup service?

no need to use setcpu anymore, and actually with hotplug, u dont need to set all those screen off on profile, as it is implemented in the kernel itself, the germans engineer seems to be doing their job. smile.gif

use recommended
*
OK thanks, now I just flash to Superatmos 3.0 kernel as for the stock one, don't know why it won't stick my setting as 1200 Mhz. Keep default to 800 Mhz. No issue for Superatmos 3.0

I can save in init.d.script for this Superatmos 3.0

Why it seems everytime I login the Voltage Control, it show Default not save, and back to 800Mhz?

Restarting my phone now. After restart it do show 1200 Mhz now.

just ignore it, actually the algorithm behind LA1 hotplug is quite complicated, it will limit itself to a certain cpu freq so that battery can be saved, u just need to apply once for the scheduler actually, ignore any changes for cpu speed after that, it will always keep changing.
*
Oh ok, as I notice it keep back to default 800 Mhz.

Added on March 6, 2012, 5:23 pmHi, creezalird

How come the AnTuTu benchmark is such low when I set Voltage Control to peformance and 1200 Mhz Max and Min.

Hotplug setting seems higher but still lower a lot compare with previously.

lower is sometimes better as it wont eat your batter alive. lols

either get a kernel modded with SIO, or
need to compile the SIO as module and insmod it.

easiest, just ignore it..haha..

I already uninstall voltage control as it keep default to 800mhz after a while.

I find antutu CPU master also can set I/O scheduler. wink.gif and it can proper save my clock setting. biggrin.gif
