Hnmmm I using juffo for some time now. Didn't encounter any bugs. Maybe I need to test it out more thoroughly.

QUOTE(Lee Yun Khong @ Nov 28 2011, 05:27 PM) hi, premk71, can you explain how you install the transparent lockscreen which attached at juffo rom? Simple.1.copy the framework Res file to ur SD card. Doesn't matter internal or external. Its temporary location 2.install root explorer .mount your system as r/w (see top of the root explorer. Got option for r/w or r/o) 3.using root explorer copy the file from above to /system/framework folder 4.there is already a similar file at that folder so you will be prompted to overwrite .click yes. 5.you will get some error that some application like market crashed. Just ignore and keep press your power button to reboot. 6.done Try it. Its cool |

QUOTE(4686nicky @ Nov 29 2011, 11:02 PM) Can I ask about the "MyGKernelV1.1.1_CWM5.tar"? Both also can. If u already rooted. It gives u cwm. If u not rooted it gives u root +cwm .give it a shotIt is root method or for the rooted user install CWM or non-rooted user also can install CWM? Sry, for my newbie question. >.< Added on November 30, 2011, 12:31 am QUOTE(Lee Yun Khong @ Nov 30 2011, 12:04 AM) No worries. Glad you can enjoy the transparent screen. But if not mistaken if u choose any other image as lockscreen, you loose the transparency and need to transfer the file again.Added on November 30, 2011, 12:38 am QUOTE(dannysee @ Nov 29 2011, 11:43 PM) Finally, have my "G" unit rooted, Yes! However, have some experience to share here: The second time did u kill the adb process in task manager? I believe from my experience not killing the adb process the second time helps but haven't get to unroot and retry it.After fist attempt, as I mention in #665, a lot of "failed", "unable" etc. I tried waveweaver suggestion, install Superuser, success! Strange. Then I install busybox, NO, cannot, bcos it stated no root. More Strange! Then I re-do the rooting again using version 2, wow, everything goes well without all those "failed, 'unable" messgae, it even rebooting my unit after I hit "any key to continue" which did not happen during the first attempt. Then all busybox, re-boot apk all worked! Proven it is finally rooted. I did however unroot doomlord from the galaxy tab using his script. It works ok to unroot. I try re root... fail first time.I reboot PC, kill kies and try ...success This post has been edited by premk71: Nov 30 2011, 12:38 AM |

QUOTE(gsan @ Nov 30 2011, 10:54 PM) anyone free to try and let us the result? wonder really not longer capped at 1008MHz...even use setCPU to adjust to 1.2GHz but most of the time still running at 1008MHz Other experienced folks pls correct me if wrong, i think when u set ur phone to 1.2Ghz thru setcpu, its doesnt mean it need to be running at that speed. Its based on ur usage I suppose, only when ur phone running demands its, the cpu scales upwards, otherwise most times its running at 300Mhz.I use setcpu too, go under Info -> time in state and u can see what speeds ur cpu runs most of the time. I suppose if it runs at 1.2Ghz all the time, battery will be a goner. I use Titanium backup to freeze bloatware , autostarts to manage what starts when, BetterBatteryStats to troubleshoot for wakelocks and remove more bloat or juice suckers and use Juicedefender+set cpu using settings suggested by lennyUK ( chap from xda) and with moderate usage I can squeeze more than a day. The best I have got with moderate usage - some songs, some browsing, facebook and chat, some video, youtube, many text messaging, a few calls is about 32 hours. But most days its 21-24 hours on full charge --- > BTW this to ALSO answer the other thread about battery drop 1% every 4 mins thingie. QUOTE(4686nicky @ Dec 1 2011, 05:25 PM) If wanted to flash juffo rom v2.0 or 2.1, should we need to flash the "Kernel_I9100GDZKI1.tar" he provided or not? No. If you read that thread, you wont flash that kernel. If yes, the phone still rooted or not? and what the different? Any bugs or issues that you guys found? From your posts I see you have DZKJ2 , unrooted, right? If this is true and if you want to flash Juffo v2 or v 2.1, do this. 1, Flash with Odin the myGkernel v1.1.1 2. Your kernel will be a rooted kernel with CWM. If you look under "About Phone" and "kernel version" you will see its 2.6.35.7 Android-2.3.5@MyGKernel # 5 ..or similar 3. You mention in earlier post you flash and its not working, care to elaborate what is meant by not working? Or you fail to flash? 4. Using CWM you can install Juffo v1,2,2.1 Follow instruction in xda on doing this. I recommend you to look at xda links on MyGKernel 2.3.5 and Juffo. I started at same position like you with DZKJ2 and following above am running Juffo V2. |

QUOTE(Progen @ Dec 2 2011, 02:24 AM) I've tried the Juffo ROM but don't like it and want to return to the stock ROM. Funny thing is whenever I use Odin 1.85 to rewrite the stock firmware downloaded from the initial link in this thread, I end up with a bricked set. I'm using the I9100G. I reach the part where it says something about Write failed after a line which ends with LOKE. I then have to flash with the original kernel to get the set working but I'm still left with the Juffo ROM. Very odd. I have revert back a few times from Juffo custom ROM. Never had that problem.Any ideas why? What i normally do is include the pit file as well, meaning i repartition and flash back the DZKI1 firmware.. Did u repartition and flash? |

QUOTE(slade_clan @ Dec 4 2011, 12:00 AM) If u have used Doomlord method to root, use his scripthttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...74#post18879974 I havent used that on SGS2 but it worked on my tab. Read his disclaimer . Otherwise just read up post # 1 and , get into download mode and flash back stock DZKI1 firmware and pit file using ODIN and u are back to square 1 with stock DZKI1 ( and u can update again to DZKJ2) . At least that's the method I used to keep going back to stock. I am sure you can try the pit file and stock DZKJ2 firmware also. |

Installed the latest updated superatmos ROM. So far no issue giving root permissions. Camera seems ok, but need more testing. Just to report in that its running fine. Doesnt mess up your phone or cause reboots if u give root permission to some apps. Can download and test yourselves.
Will run more tests later cause I got to go out. Cheers. |

QUOTE(eddie2020 @ Dec 4 2011, 11:39 PM) you guys battery can use how long usually? Now this is way out of topic of this thread, but I suppose, eventually one of reason people root to is get the better of their battery by freezing and stuff, so I try shed my little experience. Bad news, you have to read up a few threads , maybe 40 pages in all to really know what's happening.big different with stock? i jz bought few day, if keep play, battery need charge 2 time per day.. i wonder want flash or nt.. i noob in this.. scare brick then i gg.. last time i jz noe flash SE firmware, chg driver.. android got kernel / rom i dono wad is tht @@" And If u scare it will brick by flashing around, its tough. Sooner or later you need to cross that bridge to get some goodies. But for better battery you can try this without flashing ROM. 1. Root your phone with Doomlord method. Its either work or dont work only, wont brick ur phone. 2. Once rooted , you'll have superuser app to grant root permissions. 3. Download & install titanium backup pro . You can google around. Sorry cant give u links to crackware. Better buy it but its your choice. 4. Download BetterBatteryStats ( BBS). There is a free version on xda. 5. Download Setcpu - you can buy it or get the xda version free. 6. Get yourself JuiceDefender / JuiceDefender Ultimate. ( JD) 7. Get yourself Autostarts (AS) There are many threads on xda , some people say use BBS, dont use JD and setcpu and there is another group that swear JD/SetCPU is good. What I did is to combine all - and feel free to experiment on your own. This is not the only way you'll save battery. 1. Use TitaniumBackup to freeze all unused apps that come preinstalled. Check thru and see which one you really need. I have frozen Accuweather,Allshare,Android Live Wallpaper,APMobile,Books( if u have it),unused fonts,Days,Email 1.0,Email 3.0.0.1,GameHub,Homescreen Tips,IM,Kobo,Livewallpaper picker,Maps, MiniDiary, News, Oceanwether, OMACP, Readers Hub,Samsung Apps/UNA,Entire SNS,Social Hubs, streetview,Windyweather, yahoofinance,Zinio Reader. You choose what u really need , rest just freeze it. All of the above I dont need or have alternatives. 2,I turn off stuff in settings, accounts and sync, I turn off auto-sync, I turn off motion ( i dont need it), in Location/Security, I turn off "Use wireless network", in Privacy, I turn off "back up my data". Turn off auto brightness and anything else that may suck battery. There are tonnes of articles online search, fiddle and experiment. 3.Then I charged my phone and used BBS to see what is still keeping my phone "awake". Most times, its friendcaster app. I adjust the settings for friendcaster and other apps. Again, pls read thru BBS thread in xda. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 - you can read a few pages in front and back. 4.I use setcpu and apply profiles that cap the cpu when screen is off and when battery is getting low. Read here for start http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158102 5.I used JD Ultimate and settings from forums. See here but feel free to research and experiment and understand what you are setting. http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/showthre...ender-(Ultimate 6. Of the remaining apps that are not frozen, I use autostarts, to turn of "event triggered starts". I have a very lean startup and most apps run only when i click on them. they dont autostart as they were programmed to do. You can start with a few and experiment as you go along. With rooted stock firmware, with light-moderate use, I can stretch my battery to about 32 hours. Gmails, Friendcaster checks maybe 10 times, music for ~20-30mins, some games (Angry Birds) , watch a few song video, many many SMS, a few calls, and check this forum online maybe 20 times. Also sync my office email with Roadsync 3-4 times manually. JD "claims" it has helped increase my battery about 1.8x. But 32 hours is not repeatable many times. Occassionally I get 24 hours,26 hours, 22 hours. Even with Juffo 2.1 is about the same. Now I am rubbing my hands with glee since its mentioned that superatmos has tweaked power management. I really wanna see how long the battery lasts. So the above is my small experience . I been using android only ~ 2 months now. My biggest shock migrating from my Nokia N8 to SGS2 is battery life. Otherwise no complaints. |

QUOTE(YGstans @ Dec 5 2011, 10:52 AM) after i key in that code...it alrdy help me tick XME..so i think mine ori setting is XME alrdy...i alrdy root my phone...but now why my wifi wont work? any solution? Don't mean to bump this thread .since your data already lost and u now get wifi not working ( which is not supposed to happen ) , why don't u just use the pit file and.dzkj2 stock firmware from page 1. Flash back to stock. When your phone starts up and the yellow words come up after flash , you can read and see if ur csc is set as KOR or XME . If.KOR just use the *272 method to set it back to XME . Everything should be fine and.with the latest discovery of memory crash you can for sure root with doomlord.I think ur wifi current not working .if u still have any wifi ap listed ,try forget and rescan and re input wep or wpa key Added on December 5, 2011, 1:24 pm QUOTE(EightPhantomz @ Dec 5 2011, 09:05 AM) Great views there! And thanks for the JD thread aswell. Just bought the Ultimate version last night as I'm very much satisfied with the free version. Needed the configure app function to enable Lookout app. Wife lost her phone just recently and it haunts me just well. So am trying all the "lost phone" apps to be safe. Super Rom froze halfway during surfing .had to reboot phone and lost the battery stats .still monitoring if its one off event . Now used for 8 hours .battery is at 75 percent .very light use. Can't quite say battery improve .will turn off JD and see .BBS reports JD wakelock is main juice drinker .not sure why yet.Maybe some conflict with this ROM power management . Will keep forum posted .Tough Monday ahead .Anyway, hows SuperROM? Battery is slightly warmer than before at 39C when surfing . Off topic .phone lost can remote lock thru Samsung dive website This post has been edited by premk71: Dec 5 2011, 01:24 PM |

QUOTE(gsan @ Dec 5 2011, 07:54 PM) yes...by the way, superatom kernel has better performance as claimed by himself...do u noticed any better performance such like faster or smoother? I dont know guys, I have mixed feeling. I flash everything back to stock last night, then flash the superatom kernel and use its CWM to put the Super ROM on. Battery is draining man...... even with JD and set cpu. I am down to 25% now when in past with Juffo and myGKernel i will be around 50% now. Even less apps now on phone. I used the same treatment with JD and setcpu and stuff. Geez.... blow man.... Tonight I will go back to MyGKernel and use just the SuperRom without his kernel and see how it goes. Looks like a week of flashing to and fro and try many things , All over again. About smoother or not, really i dont know man. Its just a feeling. I felt Juffo 2.1 was pretty damn good. But I am not taking the shine off superatmos chap. He really must have put in tonnes of hours into it. I am sure eventually it will be really really good. Cheers. |
