Err... I thought if never unroot then cannot upgrade to ICS? or is it the other way round? Flash ICS firmware = cannot root / lose the root ?
*
You'd probably lose root. Dont worry too much. For now, root ur phone and enjoy it to max. You can always flash stock ROM back later. When ICS comes out, somehow someone will figure out how to root it then ( if its not already known now).

So go ahead. ENjoy ur rooted phone.

Go read the instruction for Juffo properly in xda.
Its impossible to mix up.

Put the zip file in ur phone mass memory ( the built in memory - SD card) not the external card.

Hi, I got a question. I just rooted my I GT-i9100 today which is running on 2.3.6 firmware. Got it updated via Kies last week and lost my Root access.
I rooted it using Odin and SuperOnClick and used "I think a wrong Kernal(Cause the display sucks now and the colour is not that vibrant like before 'hard to explain whats wrong'). The kernal that I used was XWKDD, dont remeber what was it before rooting today. I'm really unhappy cause of the display, and want to revert it back to what it was unroot and reroot using the other method that you showed above "Rooting WITHOUT increasing your binary counts method". Is that possible without me reflashing the firmware. Can I reupdate to the official Unrooted firmware?(tried using kies but no go). Or maybe is it possible for me to use odin and try another reliable Kernal. Need link for Kernals or a .tar:-

And I'm confused with the flashing a custom rom process, must I wipe my phone to do that? If i do that will all the data go missing, especially apps? (I dont wanna lose my apps cause I paid for most of them)

And also talking about the Binary count, does that really matters?
*
U are at wrong subforum. Go find one thats only for I9100. We cannot suggest to u any kernel to use.

But basics are same. U can use other rooted kernel to flash over. Since u now have root access, install K tool ( go find in market) and u can try out a few kernels without using Odin. Learn to use K tool . its fast. Just transfer over the Zimage into ur internal SD card and try. But make sure the Zimage come from kernel for ur phone.

But i doubt r kernel is causing ur display not to be vibrant. Really (!!?)

Anyway, u can always flash back stock using ODIN. Just ensure u know what u are doing by checking out the relevant forum for ur phone.

Good Luck.

Guys,
One quick question. Planning on rooting my phone.

Read sumwhere that using different kernel can give better battery life. So, if I were to root then flash superatmos kernel while stil maintaining stock rom, will my battery life get better? Or must use both superrom & superatmos to achieve this?
Kinda annoying charging my phone every 8 to 10 hours. Read here someone achieve 2% battery usage for 8 hours standby time. Mine drops 15% on average while sleeping 6 hours. Damn annoying..

Thanx for ur reply..
*
Yes.go ahead and try kernels.the best battery saver kernel I have used over stock Rom is superkernel v 1.1 .on outset its governor is "powersave "

For battery life u can also get into setcpu and juicedefender .see post 817 page 41 .

If there is time I d try put together a guide.I agree battery life of 8 hours is no go.I don't like extended battery or spare battery or carry around charger too

If u find lag with powersave go for conservative .some folks say powersave lag though I don't see it .conservative is ok to for battery saving. Read up setcpu user guide .all the best

Anyone manage to connect to KIES when using SUPER ROM, any version. Used to have this problem before, now after being in stock for some time, flashed with superROM v 2+ samsung apps 1.1( the one left out) +ICS theme...cannot connect back to KIES. odd.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Odd. Resolved by clear dalvik cache. Now okay ready.

actually binary counter also kind of easy but a bit risky as it involves flashing bootloader.
we need to flash back old bootloader (sbl.bin) from previous rom so that usb jig will work again.

info is cited from intratech thread

but again to be stressed, it is highly risk. tongue.gif
*
Sure got some crazy guy to try one even already mention high risk. There are many here. Just hope they dont come back and ask for solution after brick the phone. rclxms.gif

Actually,i used both DZKJ2 and DZKL3, not much different. If people worry about binary counter, they should stick to KJ2.

Or go try the galaxyROM RC2.... i am using it now, so far so good.

Previously, I successfully rooted KJ3 using Version 2 of "DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit" as per my post #665. After updated firmware to KL3 now, numerous attempt using similar method failed to root my 9100G, I have tried Version 2 and Version 4, both doesn't work. either install Superuser first or without Superuser install, both way also failed, any sifu can give some pointers? Tq in advance.
*
So far kl3 cannot be rooted with doomlord .pls read last 12 pages.u can flash rooted kernel .also got way to remove yellow triangle but no SAFE way to reset binary counter.(thanks to creezalird info).
If that bothers u pls downgrade back to dzkj2 or some other custom rom .many of us now excited about galaxyRom rc2. Read up a few pages back .good luck

seriously ah bro? i see ppl flashing modems like nobodies business, thats why i thought no prob, somore the steps so simple compared to rooting and all.

my drop calls happen when it switches to H.

im on auto GSM/WCDMA mode.

i disabled hsdpa using *#301279# release99

i disabled fast dormancy.

and yet the bloody H logo still comes on. i want it to remain on 3G only. when it remains on 3G only everything is fine and dandy and wonderful
*
Sorry to read this and to ask, which provider are u on? This is first time I am hearing drop calls when switch to H.

About the using *#301279#, I did the same thing on my phone on Maxis, and no H come on back even though i was using it for internet speed test ( my build.prop has a ro.ril.hsxpa=1 when i tried this)

Maybe u can try to add a ro.ril.hsxpa=0 in ur build.prop file to keep it to 3G only.

I read stuff here.

Im having problem rooting my GB 2.3.6 DZKL3....can sumone help plssss...sad.gif
*
what is ur specific problem? pls give details.
Have u read creezalird's guide? If u not sure, look up creezalird, he is a forummer here and look at this signature , there is a link to his guide. Most complete guide u can find. If u use that, sure no problem.

I think u are having problem because DZKL3 is not rootable with normal Doomlord method.
I suggest you
1.Downgrade back to DZKJ2 using ODIN.
2.Then root with Doomlord.
3.Install Mobile Odin
4.Download DZKL3 firmware.
5. Download superatmos kernel 2.1.1 ( based on DZKL3)
6.Install K-tool and use it to flash superatmos kernel 2.1.1
7.Use Mobile Odin to pre-root and install the DZKL3.

And u will have a DZKL3 that is rooted and also able to use KIES to check for updates

Of course if u have USB jig u can skip some steps like # 2 and straight away flash superatmos kernel 2.1.1 and use jig to remove yellow triangle and binary counts.

Try the above. I used it as well. Running rooted DZKL3 now with CWM recovery too.

If u wondering where to get all the above, files, join this group in FB
http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/203703389724143/
and look up their docs. All the best .

Hi guys, wanna check with u all..

after root and flashed.. battery can last 2 days.. then suddenly yesterday 11pm.. fully charged at 100%, then when unplug, immediately dropped to 98%, then this morning 8am, battery dropped till 20%....

what happened? no new apps installed....

just now i charged again.. 100%, then unplug, dropped to 98% again...
*
First I suggest as per the other good forummer suggest. Install Better Battery Stats to understand what is eating up your battery. I think its some kernel wakelock or partial wake lock

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809

There is a free complete edition there.

Once u know what is causing it, its easier to troubleshoot and fix.

Also may i recommend u to use

1. Juice defender Ultimate - u can find many articles on how to set it up. Some people say it doesnt help, but if u got ur data on all the time, its a good tool to enhance ur battery life.
You can refer here for a start on how to set it up but feel free to experiment
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/threads/...-ultimate.4872/

2. CPU Master Pro from AnTuTu. - i find it better that setcpu, which I had bought.:-)

I think there is some kernel wakelock that is causing ur problem. But yes, calibrate your battery and give it a try for 1-2 days before usage / battery life can be stable. Sometimes, even weak reception of signal can cause battery drain....

If u have a USB jig, then u can go ahead and flash superatmos kernel. Use the jig to remove yellow triangle and binary counter. If u dont care about the yellow triange or counter, then USB jig doesnt matter.
Yes, sometimes doomlord just doesnt work. you can try memory crash method. Restart ur pc, kill every single process that is associated with mobile phone that is runnig in background on ur pc, e.g. adb,KIES, modaco, android injector etc etc ( see ur task manager in pc).

The put ur phone in debugging mode, open enough programs on the phone to keep the ram at 500MB ++ connect to pc and run the doomlord batch file ( run as administrator) and give doomlord a go again.

Since i have usb jig, i just flash kernel directly.

I encountered some sort of your issue today. Left the phone for a while den when I try to wake it with the home button or power button, the screen does not light up. Had to restart. Damn.
*
Have u got any cpu limiting software like setcpu or cpu master on? Usually i'd face this kinda problem when set to powersave governor on some ROMs. Usually that's the thing. Now I limit myself to conservative governor and not try to squeeze the daylights out of the battery. Also any conflicting controls on ur cpu? e.g u have JuiceDefender and also SetCpu/CpuMaster controlling the same thing?

I have tried many custom ROMs, eventually all of them will have one issue or the other. hence i am back and happily using KL3 deodexed and make my own tweaks there.
