Thank gsan for fast responce.

Last question, do i need to flash custom kernel if i don't want to flash custom rom because as i know custom kernel just wil install CWM and will not improve device performanc right?
*
some custom kernel do provide extras beside cwm support. for the extras,it is recommended to read it urself from the kernel thread itself @xda.

for link to custom kernel, read my guide please.

sure ucan update it. even if u are using version 2 and upgrade to ver 3.. it will function, but with some quirks, like u need to clear data for superuser first.

there is instructions inside pdf guide how to boot into CWM
use volume up and down to move cursor up and down and power button to select
correct me if i'm wrong here .. still new to this smile.gif

@creezalird
maybe you can add version info of your guides with changelogs smile.gif
easy to track new info added
maybe can add superoneclick method
*
i will try if i have the time..but i will only add changelogs inside the pdf, i will not alter the name as it will "kacau" the link and i need to update my signature everytime..

superoneclick is actually just the same method "zergrush"

but for now, no updates as i am just married and need to settle down, even i still have no internet conn. at home T_T.. currently replying from beloved sgs2 smile.gif

Using Superkernel 2.0 = battery drain fast. Loss ~ 5% in one hour. Switched back to superkernel 1.1.

My set up is Stock ROM rooted with DoomLord + SuperKernel 1.1 +setcpu + JD = amazing battery life.

Replace same with Superkernel 2.0 , battery drain fast. So for my needs, its battery life, i go back to 1.1

Cheers

Added on January 4, 2012, 3:41 pmsuperatmos said for better performance, flash kernel v2.0 with SuperROM v2.0. Hmmm... had a problem with SuperROM v2.0, not sure if kernel v2.0 can solve the problem. Funny thing is, whatever he recommended, always not OK for me. LOL.

Oh well... will flash SuperROM v2.0 tomorrow after tested Kernel v2.0 with SuperROM v1.0.

Kernel v1.1 + SuperROM v1.0 was working superbly.

i am using the doomLord V4 to root. - done successfully
then i download ktool, and flash superatmos 2.0 kernel - done successfully (kernel in phone become 2.6.35.7 root@ubuntu#1

but weird thing is.. i don't see the triangle thingy in boot screen. and in download mode also i don't see any counter??
i tot if we flash firmware will expect to see yellow triangle ?
*
only if u flashed "unsigned" firmware/kernel using "odin".
if using official firmware/kernel thru odin, it is ok
using 3rd software like ktool also ok.

so superatmos+superrom unsigned? ><
so flash with ktool/cwm wont have binary count rite? if wan revert stock just flash stock rom via odin as in you guide it will turn whole phone include kernel become stock and unrooted rite? ><
i heard the picture is fake in SGS forum @@
*
any "custom" firmware/kernel is unsigned and will triggered the yellow/binary effect if flashed thru odin.

yep, if want to restore to stock, just easily flash the stock firmware using odin, but of course if u already have a binary count, it will not reset it. only the usb jig can reset it, so far as i know lah

oh.. thanks.. so if i want flash kernel i use ktool
if flash rom then use cwm rite..
i dun wan increase counter.. tarak usb jig bang biggrin.gif
and last question,
i now want flash super atmos 2.0 + super rom 2.0
flash kernel will wipe any data? and flash rom will wipe any data?
if wipe, what it will wipe? system of the 2gb or it will wipe included 11gb internal storage

when i wan go ics, restore stock with odin, wont increase binary cz official biggrin.gif
*
flash kernel using ktool will not wipe anything

flash rom using CWM maybe or maybe not will wipe something depends on the script inside the rom. usually only data partition is wiped which means all downloaded apps will be deleted.

flash rom first and after that the kernel as i think the included kernel inside the rom is outdated compared to the kernel 2.0, if i am not mistaken tongue.gif

11gb partition will not be touch as long as u dont do factory reset from phone or wipe system from CWM

actually i didnt use memory crash method to root it..just click and root only..first time if failed then try second times then success already :
*
it differs from one person to another person, too many unknown variables are involved, thus producing unreliable outputs.

but for those not succeed with normal method, memory crash method is another way to go.

So far mine and my wife's phone can only be rooted using the crash

i hv downloaded using the checkFus downloader.
according to instruction
- Select PDA button, choose the downloaded firmware file (usually a .tar or .tar.md5 file)

the KL3 downloaded is "GT-I9100G_XME_1_20111223141111.zip.enc2"
any idea?
*
just extract that like normal zip file...

Yup, I only flash the kernel as DZKL3 stock kernel seems can't root at the moment.

In previous kernel, the battery life is ok, the new one no idea yet.
*
just flash the kernel KL3 over my rom KJ2..
so far only thing noticeable is that no more "smartass" profile in my case.

oh ya.. silly me forgot about the great guide.

ok, some questions according to the guide:

Assuming you have already rooted with any rooted kernel
Run “ktool”. Tap "Dump current kernel"
Tap "Reboot to Download Mode"
When in Download Mode, start Odin, connect the phone and flash any stock Samsung kernel [Flashed to the KL3 that i downloaded ok? "I9100GDZKL3_I9100GDZKL3_I9100GOLCKL3_HOME.tar.md5"]
Phone will reboot itself after that. Run “ktool” again
Tap "Flash kernel from /sdcard/zImage" [Which zImage to use?? superAtmos 2.0 ?]
Tap "Reboot"
*
that is a rom file, not a kernel. u need to know what is kernel and what is rom.
kernel is a zImage file usually included inside the rom zip/tar/etc.

u need to extract the KL3 zimage from the rom file and tar the file using app like izarc.
that is what we call stock samsung kernel.

if u read ktool instruction, u will know that the dumped kernel will be a zimage file on root sdcard, which will be flashed back on the last step.

Can someone clarify this?

If I flash super atmos's ROM, via ODIN, will it increase binary count?

I read that binary count is increased when flashing things not signed by Samsung, but if the rom is based on Samsung's firmware, is it still signed by Samsung?
*
it is like hundred times repeating the same questions, people never learn to read and search nowadays.

signed rom/kernel : ok with whatever
unsigned aka custom : not ok with odin, yellow bla bla bla

confirmed increase, coz i just flashed KL3 with ODIN.
when goes into download mode, there are 3 things :
Product Name : GT-I9100G
Custom Binary Download : YES (1 counts) - Previously it's 0
Current Binary : Custom - Previously it's Samsung ...

but there are ways to reset the counter as i remember reading it somewhere through out the threads.
now i just need to get rid of the triangle smile.gif
*
please dont give out wrong mistake as it will misguide others.

if u flashed original KL3 only rom with odin, should be no increase binary counter
but if after that u flashed superatmos 2.1, of coz got binary counter increased

i have flashed KJ2 rom (orignal, not any custom) like 10 times, not one binary count
