I bought my second unit of MR3420
Same issue as well  Have to set it "N" only, switch country to Japan and use channel 14 |

I think should pin on the first thread avoid MR3020 for this issue
MR3020 is compatible with Openwrt, maybe you guys can try revive your modem with that |

Found a new device today.
