Dont misunderstand it depends on individual of course we recommend everyone to get a new micro sim but in some cases like mine. Not all my phones can fit a micro sim so two hassle will happen to me.
1) I can only use that simcard on phones that can fit microsim 2) I need to go find someone that sells the adapter to convert
So for some of us by cutting it to micro sim i can immediately without hassle can use it on any phones with or without micro sim but in some cases like the ones happen to Nokia N9 forumers you need to replace it.
The recommended procedure is to get a brand new micro sim so if you ever faced any issue they cant use the micro sim as the excuse.
Like the terms always used *use at your own risk* cutting the micro sim is do it at your own risk but dont complaint if u faced any issue or blame the phone.
Similar to flashing if you brick your phone nokia can choose not to warranty for you because its not the proper procedure.
Mine i cut the sim at my own risk and so i bare responsible if i ever face any issue with my micro sim on my devices. Why i choose to cut the micro sim because at the maxis centre they said no adapter only micro sim.

Even you can proof its with them you must know who was the one responsible of your phone then could be your phone auto connect? its not as simple as that.
