the army is the guild with the most member in SAO(almost 1000)
and their actual name is not the army(forgot the real name though), but people call them that since they act as the law in SAO like punishing the orange member by locking them in the prison at 1st floor, though most of the time the member of the army abused their authorities by dominating the low leveled people(especially the one that decide to just stay at 1st floor)

their intention of going to the frontline is probably to kill the floor boss on their own to tell the frontliner about their abilities as a strong guild and have them listen to their orders too(usually the fronliner barely met the army as they only stay at lower level)

i think it was never said what item they get in the light novel(but i think its a gem)
as for Lizbeth, he told her(or rather just show it to her) when she finished making Dark Repulsor as she finds it weird that he wants a sword as strong as Elucidator, not stronger

p/s: wad's a frontliner? they're the players at the front slaying higher lvl mobs right? to clear floors. so why do they stay at lower floors? i tot frontliners should be constantly traveling at the front?

frontliner is basically the people that's committed on clearing the game by being on the top floor going to the boss dungeon, without touching the other small dungeon at all(note that there are other dungeon-like place in one floor, like Forest of Bewilderment in Scilica's chapter)
to stay safe, they basically stays 10 level above every floor(for example for floor 78, frontliner is at least lvl 88, whereas Kirito is usually 5-6 lvls above lvl 88)

usually they go to lower floor only to get some rest(as thats where their home is), get materials, trading, or other stuff but usually not for long as they dont want to get left behind

Can't wait for ALO. tons of action in ALO .. SAO more like a love story between kirito and asuna.. at least in ALO more action than the lovey dovey cuddling couple scenes
