DONT
BOTHER WITH FSM My GOSH printing the forms out, unsure if I am filling it out correctly or not, wait 30-60 mins at post office to get it sent. NOT WORTH IT. Just suck up the tiny bit of charges on PPA and avoid all these mess. |

QUOTE(CSW1990 @ Jan 23 2021, 02:55 PM) My opinion: Should have done (3) in April 2020, now the fund is like +50% since then.1. DCA, If donβt want to consider too much just DCA all the way 2. Dump 3k at year end when promotion from FSM- can earn rm40?! 3. Dump 3k when market in deep red, but this one need patience and monitor the market from time to time. If wait until Nov also no big crash, then go #2 Anyway, PRS is locked till retirement age and one just need to maximise 3k for the tax relief as the main purpose... for me I will go #3 (1) is probably the most sensible choice here, deposit RM 250 every month. QUOTE(CaptainGrindy @ Jan 28 2021, 10:37 PM) guys, im new in this. Any PRS can get 3k tax relief, right? Im looking at Affin Hwang PRS Growth Fund. PLEASE read the fund fact sheet first, those conservative/mod/growth funds seem to be really small in size and don't perform as well as those pure equities one.If you are still young and won't touch the money for 30 years, consider the pure equities one like Principal Asia ex Japan Equities. |

QUOTE(MUM @ Mar 7 2021, 12:46 AM) that had been an extension... More like the benefit the fund houses. PRS funds charge so much, you can just invest elsewhere and beat their returns after fees.PRS tax relief extension to benefits retirement savers By FocusM 12/04/2020 https://focusmalaysia.my/mainstream/prs-tax...ir%20retirement. |

QUOTE(MUM @ Mar 7 2021, 01:05 AM) Lemme correct it, even with tax relief at tax bracket 24%, there is a solid chance PRS will underperform StashAway or VTI/VXUS ETFs.Malaysia mutual funds are awkward, they are kinda manual gear with no need to press clutch, we need to know which funds to pick. There is no target date fund or broad market fund (that invests in ALL investable stocks in KLSE), so the funds hole < 100 positions and we kena manually read up on macro econ trends and switch funds, or get rekt later on. |

QUOTE(victorian @ Mar 7 2021, 07:03 AM) I beg to differ. PRS tax relief is 14% if you are at the bracket. 14% only the 1st year. In the subsequent years, their expenses can be higher than advertised expense ratio, eating into our return and nullifying even a 24% tax deduction.Which investment can give guaranteed 14% return? QUOTE(Ramjade @ Mar 7 2021, 08:45 AM) Yes and no. If it pick lousy funds yes. If you pick good funds no. My principal have been giving me 30% returns. I don't b.lieve stashaway is able to give 30% return p.a Same, my Principal AAXJ class C been doing great, but it underperformed KWEB ETF still.Sometimes fees are worth paying if they can beat the index. I am waiting for them to let intoruduce PRS. But unlikely going to have PRS. I think lah, if they put stashaway, wahed, akrunow etc into PRS, the fund houses really can ciao ady. Mutual funds are still manual driving, the buyer needs to know which asset class in which geographical location, which market is undervalued, Shiller PE ratio etc before buying it. Also, the fund manager cannot express their views to achieve an investment goals, they can only cherry pick securities to go into the mutual funds. |

QUOTE(MUM @ Apr 2 2021, 02:54 PM) i think you need to check the prospectus of your PRS fund.... My Principal Asia ex Japan fund macam also like that but still gave dividends anyway. It's reinvested immediately.i think i read....inside them,... DISTRIBUTION OF THE FUNDS The Funds are not expected to make any distributions. All income earned by you will automatically be reinvested into the Fund. and also it mentioned Scheme Trustee : Deutsche Trustees Malaysia Berhad not sure if they are the same criteria for your PRS fund |

Annualised return only gets meaningful over very long period of time, like 20-50Y. Very hard to judge a fund like that, so kena compare it against other funds of similar allocations and exposures.
